*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Morning all.

First off CONGRATS Capri on graduating and good luck on starting your BS and your hopefully operation!! I hope it all works out for you! Will be thinking good thoughts!!

Deb I KNEW your birthday was last year during our trip and glad that your REAL birthday will be during our trip this time. Sounds like a lot of Divas will be having their birthdays during the trip so I agree with Beth. We need to set aside a day and have a celebration for sure!! ;) I know mom was thinking she somehow needed to be HOME for her birthday and I was like WHY, who better to celebrate with than the Divas RIGHT!! :)

Beth I am SO glad that your tests are looking well and glad that you are being proactive. Don't let them push you aside. This is SO important!! Make sure that you get everything done to your satisfaction even if it means second opinions. Esp if you have a history in your family. I know you know how important this is. We want you safe!! :)

And I LOVE the pics of your family. Your girls are adorable and that is a beautiful pic of you. You are a goregous gal and you should NEVER feel anything different!!

Bridgette, Happy belated birthday and I am so glad that you were able to spend it with some of the Divas! Sounds like a great time. Wish I could have been there. Can't wait to see pics! Glad you had fun! :)

Tina good to see you back. Sounds like you had a good trip.

Dawn have a great time with your grandbabies! :)

For anyone I may have forgotten ((hugs)) and hope you have a good day and weekend!!

As for me I have to work today and then tonight Shane is heading over to where our meet is to take our pop up and our friends and get it set up and chained up for tomorrow. Then we have to be up at 5 again to be there by 6:30 for check in. Tomorrow Katy has to swim the IM and they both have to swim the 25 free and backstroke. Those are all prelims and then depending on who gets in the top 10 they will have finals in those events and then finals in the medley relays. If the girls don't make it to finals in any of those events we can leave. Then on Sunday they have the prelims in the breast, fly and 50 free and then once again finals in those events and the 100 free relay. So they said to plan on being there till 6 p.m. both days but that only depends on if they make finals or have to swim in any relays. So we shall see. But it is going to be LONG days in the heat none the less. I just hope they do well whatever happens! Our practices are over for the year though and after this meet we are done. The only thing we have left is our end of the year party on Thurs next week.

It has been a LONG season but I must admit I am ready for it to be over!! :) Monday is my dad's birthday so we have that monday night, the party on Thurs and then Shane is going camping with some of his army buddies on the weekend and then that following week we have vacation bible school for the girls and I have my dreaded test (colonoscopy). BLEH!!!! Then SOCCER starts on the 4th. EVery Tues and Thurs night from 6-7:30. So it is even LONGER than swim. UGH. At least it is only 2 nights a week instead of every day and it is later so we can at least eat first!! Shane wants the girls to go on the 4th which I am not pleased about cuz we have to leave the house at 4 a.m. the next morning for our trip which means getting up at 3 but so be it I guess. I WON'T be going to that practice cuz I will be home getting all the last minute packing done!! Anyway that's my crazy next few weeks in a nutshell. It is going to be exciting that's for sure! :)

Anyway have a GREAT day all and talk to you later!

Linda---I am so happy to get it done. I have been wanting to for awhile. I have been having some back pains and since I have been exercising and losing weight, I feel like they are holding me back from getting to my goal.
I just hope that insurance covers the surgery. :wizard: He couldn't find his camera so he used his iPhone.

He wants to go B cup for me since I am so small. That sounds good to me. I hate having b:eek:bs. They just get in the way.

Good for you January!! I also want to have this procedure. I have fought head and neck and back pain for years. My doctor referred me to a surgeon for a consult and they wouldn't even book an appointment, because they said my insurance was not likely to pay for it. I was really ticked because I had not asked anything about my insurance paying. How the heck did the lady making the appointment know that I was not laying down $5000 of my own. Anyhow, I hung up and never did follow up, but I want to someday!

Thank you all for the great welcome! I kept asking my DH over and over if he thought I should go, finally he looked at me and said, " I told you to go on the last 2, just book it already" I'll book a room as soon as I can:)
Most of my family and the ladies at work think I go to Disney too much already and would not understand going without my kids so I'm just booking off time to go on a Ladies Retreat, they don't need to know where.

I hear you! I am to the point where I just don't mention where I am going either. It's the same for Vegas for my husband and I too. It just happens to be an easy and affordable place to get away to for short periods of time. So in the last 9 years we have gone 3 times and are going for our 4th trip next week. You would think we were jetting off to Vegas every other month, the way some people react.

Hi Cristabellly!

I'm eating Nerds and watching Phineas and Ferb. What's everyone else up to?

Don't you mean "wacha dooin?"

One of our favs too!

Ann (chand309) and Angie (BC Disney Lover),
If you feel comfortable, you are welcome to post a pic of yourselves and I will happily add you both to our list of Divas on the front page. :)

Just wanted to say welcome to Ann and Angie. Last year was my first year and I had a wonderful time.

Just an update for those who read about my mammo tests.

Anyway, in case anyone was wondering that's what's been going on. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. :grouphug:

I am glad to hear that news Beth and agree that you are doing the right thing following up with a second opinion so that you can rest easy!

WHEW. We didn't scare her away! :rotfl2::lmao:
We were delighted to meet Ann, she's terrific. Will fit right in and... (drum roll) she's another ride whimp! Ride whimps unite!!!!! (defined as Indy is the wildest we will do).

Everyone else - I wish you could have been there with us today.

Thanks for the update Donna. Sounds like a great time and I wish I could have been there too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bridgett!

Ride Whimps indeed!

And Cheryl, thank you so much for covering me for the dinner, I left my cash in my car - DUH ME! Even Breezy was looking at me like, ummm...Mom, what's up with you?:scared1:

I have one pic I will try to post tomorrow. It is way past my bed time and I must go to bed. Night all;)

Ha! Wont' it be nice when the time comes that your dd springs to your rescue and buys you dinner instead of looking at you like you lost your mind:laughing::laughing:

And last but not least, thank you all for sharing your experiences with Juvenile Diabetes and your prayers and encouragement. Is is amazing that less than 24 hours after having been diagnosed, they are making great strides in accepting this new way of life. It is incredibly difficult to see the poor little guy just completely uncomprehending and terrified of each poke that has to occur so many times each day, but that will get easier. Nathan and I went and visited them in the hospital, as inbetween the pokes he is a normal little boy and was bored out of his mind. He was so happy to spend a few hours playing with his little buddy and Nathan was able to really distract him and help him recover faster when he had to get tested and then get his insulin. Last night I stayed with the girls until Dad come home. I sat with him for a few minutes and he actually cried when talking to me about dealing with Jack's fear of the needle and the pain. What is it about men crying that is so darn heart wrenching?? We will continue to do everything we can to help with this transition. I have the little girls again this afternoon, and then I am picking up the Grandparents from the airport and delivering them all to the hospital for a bit of a visit before they head back to the house with the girls. I am so relieved that the Grandparents were able to come, as I think the first couple of weeks at home will be filled with a lot of adjusting. Well, I guess I'm just letting it all out, aren't I?? Anyhow, thanks for listening.

Hope everyone has a great day. We expect about 80 degrees so I am going to fill the pool for the kidlet to play in.

I'm glad to hear the little guy is adjusting to the diagnosis so well.

And I think I am a ride wimp too! I've been on every ride in both parks including Tower of Terror, CA Screamin, Maliboomer, Space, etc, but I don't really like them much. I prefer POTC and HM. Does that qualify me as a ride wimp club member?? ;)

Also glad to hear the meet for Bridgette's b-day went well.

We talked about you and wished you were there. I learned about how you had the first girls' trip to WDW! Was that with Sarah and... Wendy? Who else?

Ride wimp (yes, it looks better w/o the "h") - honey, if you would go on Space mt or Screamin' again, you're not in the club. If you wouldn't, then you're in! So which is it, partner? :cool1:

Beth, the twins are so sweet. And that photo of you is really good. It's so natural but just gorgeous.

But you know... i've been thinking... and i think sometimes our heart needs to break... because... then it makes more room.. to hold love.
Maybe our hearts are too little to hold all that we are supposed to be and with our emotional and spiritual evolution, it fills and needs more space.

Ooh, well said. Have a wonderful time there.

We were delighted to meet Ann, she's terrific. Will fit right in and... (drum roll) she's another ride whimp! Ride whimps unite!!!!! (defined as Indy is the wildest we will do).

Ummm, I hate Indy...... Did it once, never want to do it again :rolleyes1 Am I to wussy to be a ride whimp?????

Please explain how to excerpt just part of a post to quote in a reply.

I see Cristabel explained....... And hi, Ann :wave2:

Good for you January!! I also want to have this procedure. I have foughtI hear you!

Well, next weekend will be my second Vegas trip in two months, and we're going back in August. So yep, that's three Vegas trips in three months  Truthfully though, it is a fun, cheap getaway!! :thumbsup2

Beth - that's great news about your tests. Way to be proactive - that's a good thing :thumbsup2

Dawn - have a great vacation! I  the beach (although you wouldn't know it from my glow in the dark legs :rotfl2:).

Good to hear everyone had a great time at Bridgette's b-day (I'm not jealous that I wasn't there, I'm not!!......... maybe just a little bit)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Today is Frank's birthday :yay:

Add me too, Ann

Yeah! Another Diva!

Just an update for those who read about my mammo tests.

First off, thank you everyone for your well wishes.
As you know last week, I got my mammo results back and the doctor wanted me to come back in for spot compressions, an ultrasound and to contact a breast surgeon for a possible biopsy.

Well, on Monday I got a call from the radiology department where I had the mammo done. Apparently they finally received my old mammo films from when I lived in Michigan, and the radiologist changed his recommendation to going back to yearly exams.

I guess what they saw this time, was what I'd already had biopsied back in MI and it was still unchanged. The doctor looked over the films as well and agreed with the radiologist. So I didn't have to go for my follow up tests.

BUT I went ahead and made an appt with a breast surgeon. I am not going to take any chances. I want to pick up my films and have the surgeon look at it as well just to make sure they agree. So I have that appt set up for August 13. I'm not as nervous as I was, but you know given my mom's history and all, I'm not going to rest easy until I talk to the surgeon.

I want her to agree with the radiologist and the doctor and say it's fine, but I'm prepared for more possible testing. It could go either way. But I'm going to try to "not worry until there is something to worry about". (I got that good advice from a good friend.)

Anyway, in case anyone was wondering that's what's been going on. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. :grouphug:

So glad to hear things are looking ok. Keep us posted!

Beth, thank you for explaining this. I am very happy to hear the update.

Add me, Sarah.

.

You are on the list! I am really excited to get to meet up with so many people in September!

Count me in, Sarah!:thumbsup2

;)

Woo Hoo Linda will be there! I am really looking forward to seeing you again! Will your daughter be able to join us?

Anyone else going to be there between the 18th and the 20th of September? So far I have Zoemakes5, chand 309, CaliforniaDreamer, lulubelle, and me (sahbushka)!

In other news, my dh and mom are painting the house...it is coming along and I have been lucky enough to get out of all painting so far by watching the kids!

We took the children out of daycare since dh is out of work. It will save us a good chunk of money, so that will help. I think it will be weird for him to spend so much time with them! See what he thinks!

Have a great day!

Sarah

If you mean to just include the part that the poster is referring to you or that you want to reply to, you click the quote button and then "post" and then you just delete what you don't want in the quote.

If you want multi-quote just click the little plus signs that are on the post you want to quote. When you're done just click "post"[/QUOTE]

Thank you. That works for me.

WHEW. We didn't scare her away! :rotfl2::lmao:
We were delighted to meet Ann, she's terrific. Will fit right in and... (drum roll) she's another ride whimp! Ride whimps unite!!!!! (defined as Indy is the wildest we will do).

Thank you to Donna and Vicki for joining me for lunch yesterday. Being a diva is everything I imagined it to be! Look forward to meeting more of you at the September mini-meet.

Ann

Aren't they great! I had a great time meeting Vicki back in May! And I am really looking forward to meeting you in September! It will be great to get together with Divas both new and experienced (I was going to say old, but that just has the wrong conotation....though I guess experienced doesn't sound much better!)

Sarah

Mel--just be really careful if you guys go for a walk or hiking--it's rattlesnake season. On the news yesterday was a lady who let her dogs out at a rest stop near Gaviota State Beach and got bit by a baby rattler! 21 vials of anti-venom later . . . .

Snakes! :scared1:Why does it have to be snakes! :scared1: I am so afraid to go hiking in the local hills because of the snakes. Mr. CA thinks I’m silly but I am so afraid of snakes that I cannot even watch them on TV! I told him the other night that because I am so afraid of them that I will probably die from a snake bite…he said don’t even say that! :scared1:

Thanks! I will be there September 16-21...I think you are going to be there right before or right after me, right? It's a bummer because I think we are going to meet up for a meal with a bunch of the divas....I think Vicki and Linda and a few others will be there at that time. I suppose we should start discussing the meet! I believe we were trying to do a meal between the 18th and 20th....who all was interested and where shall we eat?

Sarah

Hi Sarah! I think we will be there the weekend of Sept. 18 -19 celebrating Mr. CA’s son’s 13th birthday. His birthday is actually on the following Tues. but I think we will go that weekend. Put me down as a yes and even if we decide to go the following weekend I’ll come down to meet you all. It looks like I will be at DL at least twice in Sept and maybe even three times! Yay!:yay:

Just an update for those who read about my mammo tests.

Anyway, in case anyone was wondering that's what's been going on. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. :grouphug:

Beth – great news and I hope that the good news continues with your follow up appointment!
The pictures were adorable and you looked so great! In fact you looked too pretty to go swimming!

Well I just wanted to send Love and Light to everyone!

I grew up on south padre island and it's so hard to live in the desert. I miss the water every day.:guilty: My babies grew up on the beach, so it will be like going back in time to take my grandchildren.:lovestruc I'm sure it will break my heart a little.

But you know... i've been thinking... and i think sometimes our heart needs to break... because... then it makes more room.. to hold love.
Maybe our hearts are too little to hold all that we are supposed to be and with our emotional and spiritual evolution, it fills and needs more space.

Be Happiness!
d a w n

Dawn – Have a wonderful time at the beach! Being from a landlocked state I feel very lucky to now live so close to the ocean and I try to go as often as I can!
Wow – you are so insightful and you made me look at a broken heart in a different positive way and I agree with you…I had my heartbroken about 4 years ago and maybe you were right…my heart had a lot more space for more especially when the right person came along and I appreciate him all the more! I love the way you think!:goodvibes

Well, next weekend will be my second Vegas trip in two months, and we're going back in August. So yep, that's three Vegas trips in three months  Truthfully though, it is a fun, cheap getaway!! :thumbsup2

I will be in Vegas next weekend too! Friday - Monday We are meeting my sister and family from Denver and I am super excited to see them again! I miss them every day! Have fun and maybe we’ll run into each other!?? We are staying at Treasure Island.

Howdy ladies!!
Tt is suppose to be around a 104 here today!! :scared: BTW- Dave and I are getting away a few days early and going to Pismo Beach. :goodvibes The rest of the family will be joining us the following Sunday,

Have a great time in Pismo Beach. I have a hotel there but I’ve never been but I want to visit them someday!

Hi Ann! It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday! I am looking forward to seeing you again sometime soon!

Donna and I had fun yesterday at DL but it was HOT and I was sweating like crazy. AC was our friend! I was really excited to ride Soarn and see Yosemite!
I had a great time seeing Cheryl, Linda and Bree again and meeting Katie and her adorable baby and of course the birthday girl Bridgette! Dinner was good but seeing everyone was the best part!

BTW - I am not a ride whimp so if any of you love the roller coasters/TT/Indie I'm ready to ride!!

Happy Friday!

Thank you to Donna and Vicki for joining me for lunch yesterday. Being a diva is everything I imagined it to be! Look forward to meeting more of you at the September mini-meet.

Ann

 It was great meeting you too and sharing a very yummy lunch! Looking forward to seeing you in Sept. If not sooner but I am not sure I'll have time to go to DL before Sept.

Aren't they great! I had a great time meeting Vicki back in May! And I am really looking forward to meeting you in September! It will be great to get together with Divas both new and experienced (I was going to say old, but that just has the wrong conotation....though I guess experienced doesn't sound much better!)

Sarah

 Old vs experienced! :lmao: Us 'old with experience' divas know what you are saying but really I am old when I look at some of you! I'm not unhappy being 'old' it's just a fact!:goodvibes

Hello ladies!! Thank you all for the sweet comments on the pics. Ya'll are really too kind!! Good for a Divas ego. :rotfl2:
We had a great family time those two days. So much in fact, that we are going to book the hotel room again next month before school starts so we can do it one more time. :goodvibes

How do I send it to you? Attached to an e-mail?

Ann
You can post it here if you'd like and I can edit it and add it to the front.

We leave in the morning for a week vacation with our three grandchildren. We are taking them to see their Great Great Grandmother and then staying at a condo on south padre island. It will be the twinikins first trip to the ocean, I am so grateful we can take them.
Enjoy your very special trip Dawn. :)

You are being such a great help to them now. I'm sure that means more to them then you'll ever know. I hope they are able to settle into a new routine without too much trouble.
There was another Diva, Cheryl/Bsbllmom, who's son also had diabetes. She was very informed on the subject. Sadly, I haven't seen her post in a long while, but she would have been a great source for any advice or questions.

We talked about you and wished you were there. I learned about how you had the first girls' trip to WDW! Was that with Sarah and... Wendy? Who else?
Yes, back in 2006 I was living in MI at the time so I started a ladies only trip to WDW. Sarah and January both went so I've been lucky enough to know them since that first trip.
When we moved to NV I decided to do one for Disneyland and thus the Diva trips were born!

Well, next weekend will be my second Vegas trip in two months, and we're going back in August. So yep, that's three Vegas trips in three months  Truthfully though, it is a fun, cheap getaway!! :thumbsup2
And maybe one November too?? :rolleyes1

It will be great to get together with Divas both new and experienced (I was going to say old, but that just has the wrong conotation....though I guess experienced doesn't sound much better!)

Sarah
Well, we know Cheryl is "experienced". Says so on the bathroom wall. ;)

Have a wonderful day ladies!!!! :grouphug:

And maybe one November too?? :rolleyes1

Geez, tell a girl's secrets...............

Vicki - a group of us will be there Friday-Monday and we're staying at the Rio. We do plan on going to Kahunaville on I believe Saturday night. I would be very cool if you could meet up with us :yay:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes :lovestruc.

I'm so glad I ended up going last night It really got my mind off of things. It was great meeting Bridgette, & Vickie for the first time & seeing Cheryl, Bree, Linda & Donna again. And I loved my salad at Rainforest.

Thanks! I will be there September 16-21...I think you are going to be there right before or right after me, right? It's a bummer because I think we are going to meet up for a meal with a bunch of the divas....I think Vicki and Linda and a few others will be there at that time. Sarah

I'll be there :thumbsup2. My sons b-day is on the 19th and we will be there the 18th & 19th (possibly the 20th). You can add me to the list.

I also got a call from my school. I graduated with a 3.99 GPA and officially have my AA. Finally. Now I am on to get my BS. I will be setting up my classes this week. I am so excited. I start class on the 28th. I will soon be taking the Praxis like Capri. Maybe she can hook a sistah up with some tips.:thumbsup2

January that is awesome :thumbsup2. I'm very proud of you.

Have fun at the movies!

Just an update for those who read about my mammo tests.

:grouphug:

I'm glad you feel a little better! But you are very smart to see the surgeon. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Speaking of pics, I finally have time to post a few of the twin's birthday.

Love the pics! it looks like you all had a great time. And your suit looks cute from what I can see .

We talked about you and wished you were there. I learned about how you had the first girls' trip to WDW! Was that with Sarah and... Wendy? Who else?

It was January :thumbsup2.

Snakes! :scared1:Why does it have to be snakes! :scared1:

Yeah! It will be so good to see you again! I am not a ride whimp at disney...other places yes, but Disney I will try it all!

Sarah

Wow, everyone has so much going on that I can hardly keep up!

Beth - CUTE pics of you and your girls! It looks like you had a lot of fun! And I'm really happy to hear that most likely your B:eek:bs are fine. :thumbsup2

Janaury - Good gosh girl, way to go on your AA degree and that 3.99 gpa. That's awesome! You're going to make a wonderful teacher. And I think all the changes you're making to improve your life are terrific. You inspire me! :yay:

Melody - Have a great time at Pismo Beach. I hope your well is getting.....drilled? :goodvibes

Dawn - You have a wonderful trip too. It sounds like so much fun. I love the ocean. :cloud9:

Tracy - You are the sweetest friend. I bet they are so grateful for all your help. And the poor little guy. I'm sure all of this is really hard for him to understand. The thought of it just breaks my heart.....I hate to see children in pain. But, Tracey, you are just a wonderful giving person.

Debra - You poor babe. I'm sorry your knee still hurts like the dickens.

Ann and Angie - :welcome:

Bridgette - :bday::cake:party:

Oh shoot, I can't remember the rest......but just know that I'm always thinking about all of my Diva peeps and want the best for all of you. :grouphug:

Yes, back in 2006 I was living in MI at the time so I started a ladies only trip to WDW. Sarah and January both went so I've been lucky enough to know them since that first trip.

It was so great going on that first trip and getting to know Beth and January! We had a lot of fun! I even had my mom and grandma go with me!

I'll be there :thumbsup2. My sons b-day is on the 19th and we will be there the 18th & 19th (possibly the 20th). You can add me to the list.

It was January :thumbsup2.

Woo Hoo! Another Diva for our September mini meet! It is going to be so much fun!

Sarah

Well, I lived to tell the tale of taking the Praxis. Good gosh that's a long exam! I started at 1:15pm and didn't finish until 5:45pm. Anyway, I scored 186/reading and 177/math and I won't have my results for the writing portion of the exam for a few weeks. I hope the scores are high enough so I don't have to retake any of it again.

My eye still hurts and is swollen and red (on the top eyelid) I am now doing the warm compresses instead of cold beer cans.:thumbsup2 After doing some research online, I think it is definitely a stye. Yuck, did you know styes are caused by Staph? I'm sure I probably touched a table or door handle or something that had someone's snot on it and then rubbed my eye. Gross. :crazy2:

Good afternoon girls!
We're just packing up and taking Anais to Mathnasium. While Anais is at mathnasium, my mom and I will be going to the Northridge mall to Lane Bryant so I can go shopping! :cool1: I'm just getting some undies for now but I'll be clothes shopping soon enough before I leave for school.

Have a good day!
