*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

BTW - I am not a ride whimp so if any of you love the roller coasters/TT/Indie I'm ready to ride!!

Happy Friday!

I am definitely not a ride wimp so I'll ride with you, as many times as you want to go! I know there's others as well!! The only ride I don't really like is Mulholland Madness. Just don't like the jerkiness of it. Oh, I can also do without the Matterhorn.

Afternoon! Well I am back from work. It has been an interesting day to say the least. Went in to work and there wasn't much to do since things are really tight at work. Lynn asked if she could go out with yet ANOTHER guy and although I think she should be focusing on finishing her homework I just gave in, if for nothing more than to have her stop moping and rolling her eyes. She has been wanting to do what SHE wants to do and she doesn't realize that she is no longer out on her "own" anymore and that she is back in OUR house with OUR rules. We told her that right now she NEEDS to focus on getting her diploma. The whole time she was in Fresno she just let it go by the wayside and basically hung out by the pool or with friends the entire time and did NOTHING. Now it is due next Thur or she won't graduate and will have to do another term. We told her one of our expectations as WELL as the probation officers was for her to get it DONE! I told her she needs to STOP worrying about her social life right now and make THAT and getting a job a priority. THEN and only then can she start worrying about going out. I told her it is not like she was away at college or something and hadn't gotten in trouble. She acts like NOTHING was wrong and that she just is home from being away at school or something and that she is A) over 18 and she should be able to do WHATEVER she wants and B) having never gotten in trouble. We have to keep reminding her that she was NOT away on good terms, she RAN away and got in a LOT of trouble. She is only here NOW because she is on probation and she is under VERY strict rules. When I left work I left her there because this boy was going to pick her up and I had to go get a birthday card for my dad and then head home. When I got in the car the girls told me that she had told them that she hated me and that she hated being at our house and couldn't wait to leave. She also told them that she didn't have to do what I said. I was like oh yeah, she has another thing coming if she thinks that. Plus she has already started in with the sass mouth. She is walking around in this giant funk and EVERYONE that I have encountered has asked me why she is in such a bad mood and so grumpy. This is one of the things that was a big problem before. She was CONSTANTLY in a funk all the time and it just ruined everything. We couldn't go anywhere without her ruining it because she was always rolling her eyes or being a pain in the butt. I told Shane today too that it is going to get really old too after school starts and it is just her and I considering how much she loathes me and as usual "I" am the one who is going to be around her constantly. She has NOTHING to do and she just lays there and texts on her phone constantly. She won't pick up after herself and expects me to do her laundry, pick up after her etc and that isn't going to happen. Shane finally had to tell her to take a shower after it was 4 days and she hadn't taken one. Plus she told Katy to get out of "her" room when technically it is Katy's room. As far as I am concerned she lost her room when she left and told us to "buzz" off in no uncertain terms. She hasn't lived here in 7 months and then she comes back and gets pushy and demanding. It is going to get REALLY old! It is really pushing my patience I can tell you that!

Kelly, she didn't take a shower for 4 days? That's gross. Why wouldn't a person a least want to be clean? Sounds like very self destructive behavior to me, and being dirty in just another way to not respect yourself, if you know what I mean. She may say that she hates you, but to me it sounds like she hates herself.

And, ummmmm, Lynn is allowed to have a cell phone to text on all day? I'm not sure that's such a good idea.

I don't know how you deal with this Kelly. I wish I had the answers, but I don't. On the one hand, you can't harp on her constantly to get herself together and her life on the right track, but on the other hand you can't let her continue to slide and spiral out of control. And it seems that finding a middle ground is almost impossible......in particular with someone who refuses to even try to improve in the slightest way. It's such a sad situation.

Hang in there Kelly. I know it's tough.

Woohoo!!! :cool1: I'll ride Mulholland and Matterhorn but they are not my favorites either - like you said too jerky! Ok...back to work after a momentary distraction, Thanks Stacielee I did need that this afternoon! I just found out I will be covering for one of my coworkers while she's out on medical leave for three months and it's a huge account, darn just when work had gotten managable! Oh well, I didn't get the Account Manager Yoga award for being flexible for nothing!

But I cant wait to meet you! Are you near Tempe? I will probably visit my DD at ASU sometime in the fall.

I just typed out my packing list for me and the family and it is 3 pages long! Granted I listed every toiletry and was very detailed but that still seems like a lot! Good thing we are getting a new suitcase...we are going to have to check bags this time...normally we have done carry ons, but not with 2 small children!

Sarah

Geez, tell a girl's secrets...............

Vicki - a group of us will be there Friday-Monday and we're staying at the Rio. We do plan on going to Kahunaville on I believe Saturday night. I would be very cool if you could meet up with us :yay:

That would be very cool...I'm not sure if I can get away from family but I'll PM you for details just in case I can sneak away for a bit to meet you all!

Yeah Capri I totally know what you mean. In fact when I have told my therapist about all that she has done she said that she REALLY needs therapy and that she seriously needs a psych eval. That she is most likely bipolar and is probably suffering from depression and a whole other load of issues brought on by her mom and on and on. She NEEDS to be medicated and now that she is on probation she told me that we can get her probation officer to order a psych eval of her. Because with all this destructive behavior of hers it is NOT normal. NOT caring about her hygiene and sleeping around like she is doing and having this "grandiose" attitude about herself as my therapist put it is all major signs that she needs therapy. It is impossible to deal with someone like that too who refuses to see it or seek out help. That is probably why she is CONSTANTLY so violant and in this massive funk all of the time.

It is just a matter of convincing Shane!! He is afraid that because she is resistant to it that we are going to have problems but it is no longer a matter of what she WANTS but what is best for her!

And I TOTALLY agree about the phone. When she got out of juvenille hall Shane's cousin got her a phone so that she could get a hold of people because Shane's mom only has a local phone (like universal lifeline). He paid the first months bill and that was it. Then we paid the next month's but Shane said that was it and she had to get a job to pay from then on. Well she never DID get a job and has been mooching ever since. Well she came back here ironically 1 day before the thing was due and I told him to let it expire that I was NOT paying for her to sit on that thing and text all day long. That now that she was here we are the only people she needed to talk to. If anyone needed to contact her they could call her through us. Well of COURSE she gave a sob story to my mom and BEHIND my back my mom gave her the money to pay for it. I was livid because I do NOT think she needs OR deserves a phone. She does NOTHING all day but sit on that thing. She took that thing to church with us and to the probation hearing. She doesn't go ANYWHERE without it and that thing goes off CONSTANTLY. She is texting constantly and it is REALLY annoying! I told Shane that when she has a job she can have a phone of her own but not before but of course I was overruled AGAIN! In fact my therapist even asked me if anyone even consulted me about her coming back into the house but of course NO. I mean I only had a breakdown because of what went on between her and I in January but no one seems to even consult me. I am seeing a psychiatrist and am on medication because of everything I have had to deal with and yet they bring her back into the house when I am still not "healed" so to speak and it is REALLY not good for the girls either. All I can say is it is going to be a LONG 6 months and if it wasn't for her HAVING to be here because of the probation and not being 18 yet I think she would have to go cuz it is NOT a good situation!

I'm in Peoria, which is NW from Phoenix, but my son will be going to ASU starting this Fall. Let me know when you'll be here, we could meet somewhere in the middle.

Heather went home today, we were supposed to get together for dinner last night but with one of their cars breaking down, buying a new van and then trying to donate the unneeded car, we weren't able to. And I even had some Rosa Regale for us!!! Speaking of which, I went to Total Wine and they have the RR and I was told that there's another wine that's made from the same grapes & same region that's supposedly even better. It's called Casa Sant 'Orsola. I bought a bottle, it's about $1-2 cheaper. I'll let you know when I try it.

Maybe when Vicki comes to Tempe, Heather can meet up with us, too...

I will be in Vegas next weekend too! Friday - Monday We are meeting my sister and family from Denver and I am super excited to see them again! I miss them every day! Have fun and maybe we’ll run into each other!?? We are staying at Treasure Island.
Now how the heck did I miss this the first time around??
We simply have to meet up!! Several of us are going to be there and I'd love the chance to meet one of our new Divas. :yay:

It was so great going on that first trip and getting to know Beth and January! We had a lot of fun! I even had my mom and grandma go with me!
Your mom and grandma rock! I loved meeting them!!

After doing some research online, I think it is definitely a stye. Yuck, did you know styes are caused by Staph? I'm sure I probably touched a table or door handle or something that had someone's snot on it and then rubbed my eye. Gross. :crazy2:
Glad you survived the test. And I hope your eye gets better fast. If not, see a doc for some eye drops to help it heal.

While Anais is at mathnasium, my mom and I will be going to the Northridge mall to Lane Bryant so I can go shopping! :cool1: I'm just getting some undies for now but I'll be clothes shopping soon enough before I leave for school.

Have a good day!
Get something purty.

It is really pushing my patience I can tell you that!
 Hang in there.

That would be very cool...I'm not sure if I can get away from family but I'll PM you for details just in case I can sneak away for a bit to meet you all!
Sneak away? Heck, we are going to kidnap you. :rolleyes1

Seriously, we can't all be on the Strip at the same time and not meet up for a drink or something. :thumbsup2

How lucky am I?!?! My parents have a timeshare in Orlando and they can use it in other cities and they gave my sister/family a week and told them to use it where ever they wanted so they decided on Las Vegas and they chose this week through next weekend. I really didn't have plans to go to Vegas this summer but with them being only a 5 hour drive I couldn't resist and lo and behold it's the same weekend that some wonderful Divas will be in Vegas too! I am VERY lucky! And there is no way that I can't find time to get away for at least a drink or two to meet you all!

Yay! Another mother-daughter pair! My mom and I had a fantastic time
together last year, and I'm sure the same will be true for you!

Yay! I'm glad to hear you girls had such a great time together! I'm really excited! :goodvibes

My little sister loves Phineas and Ferb!

Mee toooo! :yay:

Just an update for those who read about my mammo tests.

First off, thank you everyone for your well wishes.
As you know last week, I got my mammo results back and the doctor wanted me to come back in for spot compressions, an ultrasound and to contact a breast surgeon for a possible biopsy.

Well, on Monday I got a call from the radiology department where I had the mammo done. Apparently they finally received my old mammo films from when I lived in Michigan, and the radiologist changed his recommendation to going back to yearly exams.

I guess what they saw this time, was what I'd already had biopsied back in MI and it was still unchanged. The doctor looked over the films as well and agreed with the radiologist. So I didn't have to go for my follow up tests.

BUT I went ahead and made an appt with a breast surgeon. I am not going to take any chances. I want to pick up my films and have the surgeon look at it as well just to make sure they agree. So I have that appt set up for August 13. I'm not as nervous as I was, but you know given my mom's history and all, I'm not going to rest easy until I talk to the surgeon.

I want her to agree with the radiologist and the doctor and say it's fine, but I'm prepared for more possible testing. It could go either way. But I'm going to try to "not worry until there is something to worry about". (I got that good advice from a good friend.)

Anyway, in case anyone was wondering that's what's been going on. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. :grouphug:

Thank you for updating us and you're doing the right thing by being proactive about it, I would do the same. Still staying prayers for you.

Count me in, Sarah!:thumbsup2

I just got home a little bit ago. We did have such a nice visit with Bridgette and Donna, Vicki, Cheryl, Katie and her princess in training. Layla was so cute, sweet and well behaved, only smiles from her all night. She was unfazed by all the RFC noise and hoopla. Bree & I spent an hour or so with the birthday girl in her pool view DLH room before we headed out. It was hot and humid today. And I agree, Boo Bear is even prettier in real life. I hope she had a HB! I know her cell phone was ringing all afternoon with well wishers, that is awesome. Our dinner was good, the food was tasty. And Cheryl, thank you so much for covering me for the dinner, I left my cash in my car - DUH ME! Even Breezy was looking at me like, ummm...Mom, what's up with you?:scared1:

I have one pic I will try to post tomorrow. It is way past my bed time and I must go to bed. Night all;)

I can't wait to see pictures! It sounds like you guys had a blast!

Don't you mean "wacha dooin?"

One of our favs too!

:rotfl:

Well, I lived to tell the tale of taking the Praxis. Good gosh that's a long exam! I started at 1:15pm and didn't finish until 5:45pm. Anyway, I scored 186/reading and 177/math and I won't have my results for the writing portion of the exam for a few weeks. I hope the scores are high enough so I don't have to retake any of it again.

My eye still hurts and is swollen and red (on the top eyelid) I am now doing the warm compresses instead of cold beer cans.:thumbsup2 After doing some research online, I think it is definitely a stye. Yuck, did you know styes are caused by Staph? I'm sure I probably touched a table or door handle or something that had someone's snot on it and then rubbed my eye. Gross. :crazy2:

Way to go on finishing your test, girl! :thumbsup2 Let us know what your writing portion scores are! I bet you did great!!

Welcome to Ann and Angie!! If I didn't say that already, I don't think I did.

Kelly - More hugs to you for Lynn. You have so much strength, I don't think I'd be able to put up with that.

Hi to everyone else!! :grouphug: :lovestruc

Ann (chand309) and Angie (BC Disney Lover),
If you feel comfortable, you are welcome to post a pic of yourselves and I will happily add you both to our list of Divas on the front page. :)

There's not too many of me on this side of the camera:)

Awww, cute pic, Angie.:) Welcome to the group.
Theresa needs another ally as everyone is always picking on her for being Canadian and she holds her own.

And Miss Beth, I simply love that picture of you at the pool! You are gorgeous, girl!princess: And your girls look like they want to jump back into the water - so cute!

I wish I could go to Vegas, but I must wait until the next organized group vacation. Any particular month(s) you are leaning towards, Beth?

Here is my one picture of last night.
Notice the beautiful Birthday Girl Bridgette smack dab in the middle! I hope you had an awesome day today, girl.:thumbsup2

Drive by hello!

Went to a water park today with my family. Had a wonderful time in 108 degree weather!! :faint: Thank goodness we had a spot in the shade. :thumbsup2

Have a great weekend ladies!:goodvibes

Hi girls--I had a blast on the mini-meet last night. Little Laila is definitely going to be a Diva! (the funniest part was when I was eating something and Katie said "she gets mad when people eat stuff around her and she's not" and sure enough--about two seconds later she growled! LOL--it was so funny--she is such a cutie--that smile could light up any room.

It was fun to meet the birthday girl Bridgette and see Vicki and Donna and Katie again along with Linda and my adopted daughter Bree. Tomorrow I am going to DL again because another website is having their birthday celebration--with lunch at the Celebration BBQ--which reminds me--did you all know that next week they are changing the BBQ and taking Woody and Jessie away so it won't be a "character" meal anymore? I guess there will still be some entertainment--what no one knows is whether the price will go down. so tomorrow we will see the "old" show--or so we've been told.

So Beth, just a head's up in case you don't like the changes for your birthday celebration! (or maybe it's better if it's the same food but less expensive!)

Anyway other than that I worked today but had to take Bella home mid-day because she was having a Diva day and barking barking barking. We did stop at the dog park on the way home--her first time there--and she had some fun after the initial trepidation (you would be scared too if five or six unknown dogs came running up to greet you!) anyway, we are going to have to do that again soon.

Other than that I'm just hanging out tonight--was supposed to have dinner with friends but cancelled first thing this a.m. because I just wasn't up for it. This old lady can't do two nights out in a row!

See ya all later!

That is such wonderful news!!! I completely understand wanting the surgeon to take look as well. Better to be safe than sorry. I will still keep you in my thoughts Beth... Oh and super cute pictures too by the way. You made those girls sooooo happy!
