Any chance you could post a copy of your grant requests? I'm terrible at writing and would love to see some examples of how I might do this with my troop.

Definitely. As soon as Ive done it.

First meeting of the session with Troop last night. They are so excited about 1 more yr till our trip. Still 10 scouts going. Families to sign Trip contract in Oct that I made - 8 pages long!

Went over prep events - take a train, go to airport, amusement park and lots and lots of walking! !!!

Just brought two carloads full of cans and bottles to redemption center this weekend for my scout! She made almost $200!! Enough for her down payment due Oct 1st.

Kinda bummed out though, sent contract out to parents to read and sign two weeks ago. When I asked scouts who had read it yet, none of them had a clue about it. Told them to ask parents.. It's due Oct 1st. I hope the parents don't forget. Being really strict about paperwork and when I says mandatory I mean it. Too. Big of a trip to go soft. Sent out about a dz sponsorship and donation requests. Fingers crossed!

So this week I sent out over 30 requests for donations for our golf tournament in June. Got a yes from Dicks sporting goods, Stampin up and mary Kay demo! So excited so far. 75 more companies to reach out to and then local companies. Wish me luck.

Booked golf course today! Got a donation from US rugby and Alex and Ani!

Tina, I've got to know, just out of pure curiosity, how in the world does your council allow you to make all the donation requests ?

we have to fill out all these donation solicitation forms, we're not allowed to ask for anything over X amount, we're not allowed to accept anything over X amount, if we're offered anything over X amount we have to get further permission, then it's written or given to council and then we have to jump through 100 hoops to get whatever it was we were donated.....

Council is aware of my trip and I got approval. It's weird how each council has completely different rules.

Last night was contract signing night! All ten scouts came with contract and deposit in hand! I started a brief review of contract, but then the scouts wanted to go line by line of the "scouts will/won't" section. Well now each of them has read and heard it. They were very excited to hear I've picked AofA as a resort, but they will pick final section. Still surprised parents didn't have any other questions. Reality - this trip is really going to happen!

So last nights GS meeting was supposed to be about planning thru Dec, however it turned into a Disney discussion! Hey planned their shirt colors for the days there, but what's was cool was they figured with it being breast cancer awareness month when we go our shirt on the day we go to e YES program should be pink! Awesome.

Getting excited for next weeks troop meeting - we will be picking our Yes program!

This weeks meeting we're having a Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer survivor coming in to talk about her battle. Should be very inspiring.

Sadly I received a deny from Disney for a donation for our gold tournament. I think it was due to wrong paperwork, oh well. Received fundraiser option from thirtyone rep that I have to check with council, but we could earn $12 for every order!! We'll see.

Can I ask how you got an Alex and Ani donation? Did you go to a local store or something online?

They have a donation form online. Do a search for Alex and Ani donation request form and apply. You have to be a non profit. Google donation request forms for your area, there's tons of options out there. I've sent out over 100 and have been getting replies weekly. Figure 20% yeses, but it's something!

This is a great thread! I just started a Daisy Scout Troop and our goal is to be able to take the kids to WDW...so I am excited to follow this thread!

You are smart to start early!! Save a little of cookie money each year and by Jr. Or Cadette year you can go, with travel guidelines.

So excited for todays Girl scout troop meeting - we're selecting our YES program! I found sone great videos on Youtube and my YES rep sent me some brochures to review with the scouts as well.

So here's how Im going to do it. First we will watch the videos, then they'll do a silent vote. Since we can only do one program the top two will be voted on again and that will be it.

To keep the Disney spirit alive, Im also serving Dole Whips at the end. Most of my leaders have never had them so it will be a fun experience for all.

So it's official the troop selected their YES program! We watched a ton of videos on YouTube on the Disney Youth channel. Then we talked about the different options and then everyone wrote their top three on a card. From those we took the top two and voted. Well the Animation history and the backstage LaNouba programs were the last two. We voted two more times and were tied five to five. So we watched those two programs again and voted again. The final vote 6 to 4 - Animation History!

Since the vote was so close I'm going to contact my Disney YES rep to see if doing both programs is an option. I know it's going to cost us an additional $30 but not sure we have the time.

We also had some homemade Dole Whips which went over very well! Most of the scouts had never had it before!

Awesome !

Our girls practically voted the same way. And then they ended up having to re-vote, because when the real class schedule came out, it was slim pickings and had none of their top choices on it.

Next time we go, we're hoping that we can do the AK Wild Africa Trek or Epcot Dive Quest
