Gingerbread man

I know that this is an old tool, and many of you may not have it, but perhaps dome of your local scrapbook stores may. I am doing this project for my DD's pre-K class. Using the sizzix gingerbread man die cut (large), I am cutting out the gingerbread man out of sandpaper. Then I am taking cinnamon sticks that you can get at any craft store, and rubbing them on the sandpaper, I am also cutting out the same gingerbread men in red and green paper and using it to cover the sandpaper back. Then attaching a string to make ornaments.

Just thought that I would share this craft idea.

PS. Not brave enough to try it on the cricut, but if anyone else has done something similar, I would be interested in knowing how it turns out.

Great idea! I am sure it would work on the cricut, I would just use super fine paper and an older blade.

That sounds adorable! I have that Sizzix die. I still use mine from time to time, it's easier than lugging out the Cricut

I love that die. I took it and cut him out and cut out family names, glued them on and lamanated it. Then I took ribbon and punched a hole and made a hanger and made it name tags for the gifts. And before they opened the gift I told them it was an ornament for their tree. So it was double duty.
It was a big hit that year!

I don't know that I would cut sandpaper on the cricut. First I thought, well, cut it face down, but if one did that, the 'sand' would contaminate the mat. My big concern would be sand from the paper getting in the mechanism.

Wonder though, if it wouldn't work just as well with just a strip of cinnamined sandpaper sandwiched between the two gingerbread men out sides?

The reason for the sandpaper (not only for the scraping of the cinnamon) is that the sandpaper gives the "appearance" of the baked gingerbread. I wish I was smart enough to figure out how to post pics.

For Thanksgiving, I cut out Paper Doll Pilgrims and Indians for them to make. I ran the parts thru my Xyrons and they put them together. Boy pilgrim and Indians for the boys and girl ones for the girls.
