Gingerbread Houses for sale?

I'm not aware of any place that sells gingerbread houses at DLR, but I do know that every year Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney has workshops where you can build your own gingerbread house.

The Jazz Kitchen Gingerbread Houses would be fun to do! In looking at last year's dates, we'll probably just miss being able to attend, but I'll definitely keep an eye out.

Those came out great! I remember trying one when I was in elementary school. My mom saw somewhere to use graham crackers for the walls. It didn't work out too well and the walls didn't stay up. :rotfl:

:lmao: Yeah, my girls have made a couple of these at school. You need to use VERY liberal amounts of royal frosting. And any little bit of moisture in the air makes them start caving in on themselves.

3Tinks......very cute pictures! The houses are great. I think eating the candy is the best part of making Gingerbread Houses...

By the way - we are from the Sac area as well, and will be there in Dec too! I can't wait!!!

Thanks! We can't wait as well. :thumbsup2 Looks like we'll be leaving Sac just as you are getting back!

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for any DLR version of the gingerbread houses now. Even though we make our own, I think a Disney version would be fun to bring home. A question for the OP: do the WDW houses have Disney themes on the decorations or are they just Gingerbready in nature? :) And, what are the gingerbread shingles? Just big sheets of gingerbread?

And, what are the gingerbread shingles? Just big sheets of gingerbread?
At WDW they make a massive life size house out of gingerbread and they are made with shingles. They then sell shingles which are gingerbread (see http://www.attractionsmagazine.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/img_3898fixed.JPG)
To give you an idea of the sheer size of this thing it takes Grand Floridian cast members more than two months and 840 hours of labor to produce, cut and bake the 5,089 “shingles” used to decorate the gingerbread house. And of course no Disney house would be complete without a few Hidden Mickeys thrown in for good measure!

The shingles themselves are gingerbread coated with dark chocolate on the back as this is done for the ones they build with to help them stay in place. They are around 7-8inches by 4-5 inches I think ?? and about $6.50 a piece.
OH so yummy:thumbsup2
