Gingerbread house at GF

Looking to visit WDW next year, end of November - first week of December. Does anyone know when construction on the gingerbread house at the GF usually begins? Saw it on the Food channel last night. They mentioned when it comes down, but I didn't hear them say when it goes up. They mentioned it takes 4 days to decorate and that many people plan their vacation around those 4 days. Any ideas?

I've been trying to find that out myself. My husband wants to see the construction. I called the Grand Flo and they told me it goes up the week before Thanksgiving.

Thanks for that info. Do you know if that means the wood construction part of it or the actual gingerbread decorating part of it?

We were over there on Nov. 30th and it was fully assembled and decorated plus it smelling wonderful.

We were there GF Nov 16 and the Chefs were assembling it. The shingles are gingerbread with chocolate on the back, which you don't see. I decided it must be for the glue (white frosting) to keep the shingles on but so the cookie does not get wet and crumble. How do I know? cause the Chef handed us a 6" long shingle too long. How sad I must help and eat it! And my kids gosh didn't like it so I HAD to eat it ALL. Really I had to.

It was up when we were there last week. I couldn't believe how big it was. Every year at the children's hospital where i work, Disneyland Resort builds a huge gingerbread house to keep in the lobby during the season and that one is huge. Last years was a replica of the outside of IASW. Will find out tomorrow night what the new one will be. But, the one at GF was amazing how big it was. And to see that lady inside selling stuff. Too funny.

I think they said it came down on the 2nd of January or something like that.
