Gingerbread House at GF

Does anybody know when they take down the gingerbread house at the GF? Our trip begins on January 2nd and we are hoping to see it. Thanks.

I'd say the odds are very good that the house will still be up when you arrive. But I wouldn't expect it to last out that next full week.

Historically, all Disney Christmas decorations are up until the Feast of the Epiphany (January 6th), then start coming down after that, as that is the last day of actual Christmas (which is a 12 day long holiday in the older Christian rites, there's a two millennia long story there), and they take a while to come down.

I don't think Disney cares about the actual Christmas observations. If so, they wouldn't have put out all the Christmas stuff the day after Halloween.

They care because customers care about such things and want to see the decorations until at least the first week of the new year. Same reason the Rockeffeler center tree stays up.

Oh, by the by, historically the Christmas season (Advent) would have started on November 11th (feast of Saint Martin), or one of the Sundays either side of it, and it's still observed as such in some rites - the idea that it only starts after Thanksgiving was strictly commercial that some rites adopted for convenience and mostly locally until the 1960's when it was addressed formally by a church to move it all into December.
