Your daughters red hair....I LOVE IT!!! She's a doll!

Can't wait to read more.

Thank you! I want to hold her and kiss her all day. :goodvibes Her hair gets so tangled. I need to buy stock in detangling products. Had to run to Target today, so hopefully I can work on the report more tomorrow.

Hey there! We did enjoy our stay at the Poly, and of course I'm already planning the next trip - just more of a budget one. I am leaning towards Pop Century, especially after showing Aubree some photos and seeing how excited she got. I believe we're going to go Nov. 21-28, 2009. Hopefully I can get more memories churned out tomorrow! :rotfl:

DAY 4, part 1 (Sept. 2 – Granny’s Birthday)

Once again, we woke early to go grab some breakfast from Captain Cook’s. We also wished dear Granny a happy 71st birthday!

Our 11:40AM ADR at Hollywood & Vine’s Play ‘n Dine meant we needed to eat light then quickly head over to Hollywood Studios. I knew my mom would enjoy the theming of this park, and knew Barry would like the thrill rides.

We then headed for The Great Movie Ride. We posed for a few pics around the huge hat first.

Jon and I figured Aubree would get scared on the ride, so he opted to push her around in her stroller while Granny, Barry and I went on it. They both seemed to like it and soon we were reunited with Jon and Aubree. She had spotted some characters (I believe Pooh and Tigger) while we were riding, and was very excited. We then decided to stroll over to Muppets 3D and proceeded to the waiting area inside after picking up our glasses.

Well, Aubree wasn’t interested in staying in there at all and began fussing – and we hadn’t even made it to the theater yet. We decided to leave and head over to Star Tours so the boys could ride it before our lunch. Granny and I parked ourselves at the Backlot Express seating area (they weren’t open yet) and enjoyed watching the little kids fight Darth Vader across from us. It was really cute! Aubree enjoyed watching scavenger birds chase down leftover food on the ground. Soon Barry and Jon found us, and we headed over to a nearby restroom before going to Hollywood & Vine. We arrived about 10 minutes before our ADR and the nice hostess let us wait inside since it was so hot. We were seated within a couple minutes, and I decided to go get some food for Aubree since she was hungry (she doesn’t seem to want much breakfast in the mornings lately and then devours her lunch). I went up to the buffet and only one side was open – the breakfast one. The CMs were still setting up the lunch buffet which would open at 11:40AM. I filled a plate with tater tots, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon (yes, I love breakfast and was starving too!). The others wanted to wait for lunch. Aubree loved the tater tots and began stuffing them in her mouth. Of course, JoJo stopped by and I had to laugh at Aubree practically ignoring JoJo since she was so fascinated by the tater tots. Barry reluctantly posed too; after JoJo left he told me that he doesn’t like clowns. He was a good sport about it! I told our server that it was my mom’s birthday but that she had forgotten her birthday button. He brought a replacement one out, as well as a birthday cupcake and autographed card. Then he told her to go up to where the characters and CMs were dancing/singing. I was cracking up! My mom and a little girl danced around the restaurant with the characters. There were maybe 20 people total in the restaurant at the time. Shortly after that, the lunch buffet opened and boy, did the crowds roll in. We were lucky enough to get up there before the line was too long. The other characters – Goliath, Leo and June stopped by the table several times, as did JoJo. Leo pointed out Aubree’s hair, and I told him they were both Gingers! We really enjoyed this meal and are planning on returning when we go back. The food was very fresh and tasty, and the service was great. Our service mistakenly charged us for a child’s meal, but quickly fixed it when I told him that Aubree was only 2. She’s tall for her age, so I can understand and it wasn’t a big deal. I did bring her birth certificate card just in case!

Here are some other photos from our meal.

After sufficiently gorging ourselves, Aubree was zoning out. Granny and I decided to take Aubree back to the Polynesian for a nap. The boys stayed to go on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Indiana Jones. Not sure what else they did! This was one day that made me realize that I didn’t like the extreme heat and cramming too many ADRs in our trips. I barely rode one ride, but I was ok with that. I wish we would have taken Aubree over to Playhouse Disney – I honestly forgot when I saw her zoning out. I also had our birthday dinner for Granny on my mind.

Granny and I did fine taking Aubree back on the bus. She was sleepy and very cooperative. I believe she took a 2 ½ hour nap that day. Little did I know that I was in for drama later!

Coming up… a major meltdown and even more magic!

EDITED TO ADD: a video from our lunch (kinda big!) ... I sound like a dork in it. Please don't laugh too hard.

looks like a great time! We did play and dine last year and loved the charecters but didnt care for the food.
That is a funny pic of aubree with the tator tot in her mouth!:lmao:

It looks like you had a great time. We did the Play and Dine meal in 2007. My niece and nephew enjoyed the characters. Since I don't have kids yet the Playhouse Disney characters were new to me. They were really cute.:)

Day 4, part 2 (Sept. 2 – Granny’s birthday)

The boys came back to the room right around the time Aubree woke up. We all got ready then walked over to the Ticket & Transportation Center to take the monorail to Epcot. This time there were plenty of PhotoPass photographers.

We were about 30 minutes before our ADR, so we went through Innoventions West to cool off and use up some time. Then we walked over to the Coral Reef to see how long the wait looked (plus I wanted to verify everything was setup for the diver, menu and cake). Jon, Granny, Barry & Aubree waited outside. The CMs confirmed it and said we’d be seated closer to our 6PM reservation. At that point, we had 20 minutes to kill, so we rode Nemo again since the wait said 10 minutes. We walked right on without any wait. We also had to say hello to the “Mine, Mine” birds – Aubree’s newest pals. Jon kept Aubree in the stroller and walked her around while Barry, Granny and I went inside the Coral Reef to check-in. I was given our pager, then we waited. And waited. Jon and Aubree came in and we tried to keep her busy. I held her hand and walked her around. We had a diaper change. And waited. She started getting really fussy wanting to go outside to see the "Mine, Mine" birds. Did I mention that she loves riding in her stroller?

Jon was getting impatient and finally said that he would take her back to the room. I said no, getting just a little upset. I had planned so much for my mom’s birthday dinner. They were going to be there.

I walked Aubree around the waiting area some more. She was fine for the most part, but would have some occasional outbursts; dropping to the floor and crying. She’s usually pretty good in public – and this was a meltdown, but really not as bad as some I have seen. I just think I felt more stress because I didn’t want to cancel and I always worry about disturbing other people. My mom came over to me and said, “we can just eat dinner somewhere else… it doesn’t matter where I have my birthday dinner.” I said no. The tears were starting. Then THANKFULLY the pager went off. We were quickly seated and boy, was I relieved. The hostess took us to a booth near the glass and brought us a little booster seat for Aubree since we couldn’t use a high chair at that particular table I guess since it was near the steps. It was almost too close to the table to squeeze her in. She started crying and I said, “you are going in this seat, sorry” and pulled the seat back to give her enough room – and she slid in still sobbing a bit. She settled down when she saw the fish in the tank, and we all tried entertaining her. It was now after 7PM. I really think Aubree was fussy because she had too long of a nap. I gave her my cell phone to play with, and then she started coloring when the server brought her kid’s menu and crayons. Our server took our drink order and brought us some bread and dipping oil - very good! My mom was given her personalized menu and started crying when she saw the photos and what I’d written. (SORRY NO PIC – have to get it from her to take a pic.) Whoever did the layout on the menu did an awesome job. We were all starting to relax. I had to keep motioning to Jon to keep the camera ready. I wasn’t sure when the diver would pop out! We started looking at the fish and got our drinks. Then we ordered our meals – Granny, Jon and I ordered the New York strip, Aubree had an order of fries (we fed her some steak too), and Barry chose the catfish (requested plain). Let me tell you – that meal was the best of our trip IMO. My steak was delicious, as were the cheesy potatoes and broccolini (although it was kinda tough). Our server was so nice and did a great job. My mom started seeing the divers further back in the tank and we kept being entertained by the activities in there, as well as Aubree being silly.

Then the diver showed up with the sign, and Granny was stunned. It was truly wonderful. People started clapping and throughout the rest of the meal, they’d stop by and wish my mom a Happy Birthday. It was so nice!

Aubree started getting fussy again so we opted to not have dessert. Our server signaled me that she’d go get the cake. She brought it out and made a nice little speech as she set it down on the table. The cake I’d ordered for $12.50 was more beautiful than I’d imagined. It was chocolate with ripe strawberries on top. Aubree was a little afraid of the candles, so Granny quickly blew them out. We each sampled the cake (minus Aubree who refused). It was not only beautiful, but very moist and delicious. Barry ate almost all of the strawberries!

IMG_5131.jpg

Then we had our server box it up to take back to the room. Overall, I was extremely pleased with our meal. We all thought the wait was probably so long because they needed a certain table for our table size and to be near the tank. This was definitely a learning experience on how we deal with Aubree, and thankfully the rest of our ADRs went much smoother. I think she deleted some pics off my little camera, but that’s ok!

KUDOS to Debbi and the staff of the Coral Reef for making my mom’s birthday so special. I sent an email to thank them.

We walked out of Epcot taking in the colorful beauty of the fiber optics in the pavement. The path we took was different than I’d been on before, and much more colorful. And off we headed to the monorail and our comfy beds back at the Polynesian. And some leftover cake!

Ohhh... this TR is just bringing back so many memories! The inability to ride things because little Ginger doesn't want to wait... afternoon at the resort while little Ginger gets her beauty sleep... small meltdowns because little Ginger is just out of sorts... an amazing meal at Coral Reef made even more special with the menu and diver! I love that place!!

The video was fabulous.. and it's so neat that Leo noticed Aubree's hair! We'll definitely have to do that character meal on our Spring Break trip, while Shae is still little enough to enjoy those characters... thanks for sharing it with us!!

What a pretty cake! Thanks for sharing! That would be hard to wait that long for ADRs... and knowing the special things you had planned.

I agree that at times with ADRs I felt that all we were doing was eating too, especially last year. That is probably why the dining plan is not for us at this point. I hate to spend hours eating in the parks... I would rather be riding!

We are taking DD when she is about that age, so your trip report is going to be such a great read for me.:goodvibes

I don't mean to hijack the thread, Bella.. but my little girl is Aubree's age (about) and we took her to Disney at 18 months. If you're interested, here's a link to that trip report. It's finished and has an index at the beginning to help you get through it quickly.

Just in case you are looking for more toddler trip ideas!

What a special birthday for your mom! Glad everything worked out!
I love the video of Leo! Cute!

Thanks!

Betsy- You nearly had me in tears with the birthday celebration. What a wonderful suprise. I'm sure it meant so much to her.

We're going to go with the quick service dining plan next time, plus DH wants to go to at least 2 character meals for Aubree. They'll definitely be lunches since that seems to work best for our park touring. All Aubree has been doing since we got back is singing "It's a Small World" over and over! She's cracking us up! :rotfl:

Sooze has lots of tips, and I wish I had re-read her report before going. I think I got lost in the fast-paced run to ADRs and lost track of what other activities I wanted to experience. Oh well - there's next year!

What a special birthday for your mom! Glad everything worked out!
I love the video of Leo! Cute!

Thank you! She really did have a great birthday, and I could tell it meant the world to her.

Thanks!

Aw, thanks! She is still talking about it!

What a great birthday surprise! :thumbsup2 The cake looked really nice! Did you have to call the Coral Reef to order it?

Hi Betsy - I'm having a nice Sunday night curled up on my couch reading your TR! So many cute pictures - I love the photopass ones, the pic with Barry holding Simba is so sweet.

So good that you spent Saturday at the Poly....it POURED that day! We spent it at Epcot and got drenched!

Aubree in her little patchwork dress is so cute - did you make it? The cake the Coral Reef made for your mom is also gorgeous

We were both at Hollywood Studios on the 2nd! I'll have to look through all my pictures from that day and see if I spot your family in the background

I love that you already have a countdown ticker for your next trip! It eases the pain of coming back so much if you have another trip to look forward to. I need to get on that :scratchin

I'm glad you're enjoying the TR. I bought the patchwork dress off the disneyshopping.com website. I also bought her a matching hat which she refused to wear (she refuses to wear ANY hat, so I don't know why I wasted my $$!!). I have absolutely no sewing ability! :rotfl:

That would be too funny if we're in your pics. We really weren't there that long though!

The ticker does help my post-vacation letdown. I don't care how far away it is, just knowing that we're going is all I need! :goodvibes

I need to get caught up on your TR. My desktop crashed, and DH has to get some parts for it. So I'm on my laptop and it seems so slow... I probably need more memory on it!

Have a great night!

Day 5, part 1 (September 3)

Woke up around 6:30AM (Well, Granny and I did…), then the two of us ran over to Captain Cook’s for our usual breakfast while DH watched Aubree. After chowing down, the boys and Aubree got ready. We were soon on our way to the Magic Kingdom. We should have visited sooner! I don’t know what I was thinking… well, actually, I did think we’d head over on our first night. But oh how plans change. Our next trip will concentrate more on the Magic Kingdom, that’s for sure!

A quick PhotoPass pic:

castlepic.jpg

Heading towards the castle – Aubree was saying, “Castle! WOW!” and just acting silly.

Daddy decided to buy her a $7 foil balloon with Mickey on one side and Minnie on the other. She really liked it, and I tied it to the stroller. STUPID…. the whole time I walked over to Fantasyland, it kept hitting me in the face. Of course, I had tied it in a knot… DOH! So I just made the best of it.

We took in the show for a few minutes before heading over to Fantasyland.

IMG_5199.jpg

We then rode the Pooh ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, and It’s a Small World. Aubree did great on all of them – but especially LOVED It’s a Small World.

After a quick restroom break, we decided to have some lunch at Pinocchio’s. I was surprised that it wasn’t packed. We were fortunate to grab a table overlooking the It’s a Small World ride, which really was cool. Granny and Jon had salads, and Barry and I had the chicken nuggets, which we split with Aubree. I also had an order of Figaro Fries. We definitely overdid it on the fries this meal. We chose strawberry yogurt and strawberry cheesecake for our desserts. Everything was fresh and the right temperature, and this was a good lunch experience. I think DH and I first ate here in 2003 and hadn’t returned until this trip.
After lunch, we decided to take Aubree on It’s a Small World again. She had been asking to go again, so we did. She was starting to get sleepy after that, so Granny and I opted to take her back to the room for a nap. The boys headed off to enjoy some thrill rides. I know they rode Buzz Lightyear, Stitch’s Great Escape, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the Haunted Mansion. Barry did not like the Haunted Mansion, especially the stretching room.
