Ginger Family Getaway: 8/30-9/6 Trip Report DAY 7 & 8 UPDATED 10/2

Hey Betsy!

I'm actually headed to the zoo tomorrow. DD4's preschool is doing a Family day there tomorrow. I'm hoping it warms up a little bit from today, if you know what I mean!

DD4's favorite thing is to watch the elephant bath. She has to do that every time we go, but I think we'll miss it tomorrow. It's usually at 11:00 and I don't think we'll be there that early, since the group is leaving Noblesville at 10:45!

I think you guys will have a great time at AK, although it's going to be a lot hotter in August there than in April in Indy!

Oh, that will be so much fun for your DD tomorrow!

We missed the elephant bath too. Aubree would have liked that. Maybe next time. I think we were still looking at dolphins around that time.

When we went in the desert area, it was really hot and I told Jon - this is probably what it will feel like when we're there. At least we won't have to wear jackets or jeans. I'll blind the world with my white legs instead!

I'm sure the zoo trip was a fun day for all of you. Aubree's haircut looks very cute. Her sunglasses are very stylish!

Nothing new to report on our WDW trip, but we will be taking a fun roadtrip in a couple weeks.

Jon's parents live in NJ, so we're driving out for a nearly week-long visit. Will also be visiting his other relatives in upstate NY. This will be so fun, because Aubree hasn't seen this set of grandparents in a year. She'll also finally meet her great-grandparents and various great-aunts, uncles & cousins. One other exciting thing: we're planning on going to the Crayola Factory in Pennsylvania while out there. Aubree loves her crayons!! I remember seeing this on the Jon & Kate + 8 show... can't wait.

We leave right after Jon gets home from work on May 23rd and will stay overnight in Cambridge, OH before continuing on the next morning. Then we'll leave on May 30th staying overnight in Washington, PA. This should be much easier on all of us. Aubree loves riding in the car (she did great on our 2007 summer vacation to Minnesota!).

I have to stay committed to my diet and am planning on taking my Nutrisystem food. I already know what sensible choices to make if we eat out, so I should be able to stay on track.

Just booked the character breakfast at 'Ohana for 9/1. I was thinking about Kona Cafe again (very yummy), but am sticking with our other ADRs.

Me too... I tried to get DH to change our Boma ADR to Kona Cafe and he really wants Boma. I guess I'll let him choose one thing on the trip!

Honestly, seeing some pics of the AKL construction made up my mind, along with some pixie dust floating our way! Jon and I are very excited, and me especially since I can roll Aubree right onto the monorail instead of folding/unfolding the stroller. I think the majority of our time's going to be spent at the MK and Epcot anyway! He can handle getting the stroller on any bus we need to take, but this will really help me out since I'm such a weenie strength-wise.

We are going to keep the crib rental from ABBF. At least my mom will get one of the queen beds, and Barry will get the daybed. Much nicer!

Hope you like the zoo pics. We had a great time, although I constantly compare stuff to Disney's awesome theming. I'm going to take Aubree back later this month.

Thanks! This will really make for a special trip for my mom - my parents were going to take our family to the Poly back in the 70s and ended up canceling due to the gas shortages. We did end up going years later, but stayed offsite. She seems very happy about the change too!

Will let you two know when I plan something... it will probably be in June now that we have our road trip to New Jersey coming up on the 23rd and will be gone until the 31st.
