Ging Gang Goolie 2008, 23rd May, Tal-y-Bont On Usk

whatever floats your boat - anyone volunteering to scrub Kevs eggy pans in orange hot pants and american tan tights ??
Go on then, I'll do it:thumbsup2

We've got our portable bbq which we had last year, cooks most things well and also can receive logs for keeping warm.

what's a Ging Gang Goolie lol?

hi chris, last year our young Matt (miss you pokemon master!) ran a thread call ask me anything and during someones non stop question and answer thread we joked about having a huge camp out, well, a few weeks later it was all arranged by the wonderful Jules (saratogagirl) and her hubby Ian, quite a few of us camped out at a site in tal Y Bont on Usk for a weekend.
needless to say mucho alcohol was taken and it was such a laugh we decided it should be an annual event, so we have even more lovely Dissers joining us this year.
and its the ging gang goolie because of the camp fire song...
ging gang goolie goolie goolie goolie
watcha ging gang goo
ging gang goo....

Claire, to answer your question more seriously honey, last year we split the food, we decided before we went what each person would bring to avoid having an overload of burgers, I guess we will do this again in the next week or so, bacon was a very popular choice, we got through lots of the stuff :lmao: Kev makes a mean bacon and egg sandwich and even cooks the bacon to your taste, medium or well done, as Deb and I prefer it, Its better this year as we know there is a supermarket so close, so we can stock up in the mornings if we need to, bring along of course your favourite tipple. Could you tell me what your boyfriends name is, everytime Ian and I discuss it we say Claires boyfriend which seems very rude !!

That all sounds great Jules, Mike and I will bring a variety of things.

Clare, don't know if this helps

if i remember rightly (and who knows as much voddie was partaken of!)
we had a volunteer to supply each of the following

burgers baps ketchup and plastic cheese
hotdogs rolls onions
poridge
bacon and bread for breakie

we also brought various items of local specialities, like cornish pasties, leicestershire pork pies, welsh vodka jelly (that never made it out the fridge!) so if theres local fayre bring it on!

so have we got communal cooking stoves or bbqs? or do we need to bring individual disposable ones?

various cooking and eating implements were quite handy too, a washing up bowl, sharp knife, old frying pan and/or saucepans, disposable plates, cups glasses and napkins.

oh, and plenty of booze!

We've got a portable double stove which we'll bring along and plenty of other stuff.

And of course we have a lot of booze!

Thanks Nat :)

panic stations! callum broke his arm yesterday, really badly too, after spending all day and half the night in hospital they managed to manipulate it back into place rather than do a pinning operation as was first feared.
he went to his dads after being discharged and I've just spoken to him, he's happy to still come camping so thats great, i had a fear he wouldn't want to as he'd be pretty much out of action

poor thing... what happened?

he was up the park in a science lesson (darn good science lessons these kids have i can tell you!) and they had ten minutes to play, he was swinging on some overhead bars type thing and slipped and fell really awkwardly.
as always with callum he had to do a grand job, when he broke his leg a few years ago he couldn't crack the bone across ways, oh no, he had to split the shin bone right up through making the whole healing process really long and awkward. this time he didn't crack one bone crossways either, no! he had to break both of them in whats known as a 'dinner-fork' break so his arm looked like harry potters, all floppy in the middle! he's ok though, i just spoke to him, but when he comes home tomorrow night, no doubt the whinging will start!

Ouch! I did something similar at school when I was eight. Not satisfied with just breaking a bone, I had to break my elbow. It took a long time to heal. Actually, it's still a bit manky now - remind me to show you sometime.

Hope he's feeling chipper, Carol. So pleased you'll still be joining us. :thumbsup2

really pleased you will still be joining us, sounds nasty, Deb I want to see your elbow, maybe we can swap war wounds, Ian has a hole in his foot, mine are boring just nasty burn scars on my leg ... I so can't get my head around it, two weeks time we will be in a field !!

no doubt the whinging will start!
If he whinges, give him a slap and remind him real men don't feel pain. Furthermore, if he needs proof, I am perfectly happy to stab Kev in the arm at the GGG.

:rotfl2: a lesson in how to traumatise the kids for life !

you're all heart Matt :lmao:

Poor Callum. I hope it isn't too painful now.

So glad you are both still coming to the GGG though - wouldn't be the same without you both

Tam

I so hope that is as beautiful as it is today, it is so warm already

If it is as hot as this, we will be able to go swimming in the canal :rotfl2:
