I have been thinking and came up with what I want my big Disney gift to be this year, especially since I'll be down at the parks for my Birthday. I am thinking of getting one of those hand drawn character watches.

I am talking about the location where a CM draws a character in either single color or two colors and you can get that drawing as a watch. I hope yall know what I am talking about. I do have a few questions about it incase anyone has the answers.

1. Is the only location to get this done at Downtown Disney? Is there a location in the Magic Kingdom?
2. Do you know if the Birthday Gift Card can be used for it?
3. How long does it take for the whole process to finished?

At DTD check the "Art of Disney" location next to Rainforest Cafe and across the walkway from the Christmas store. They had the hand drawn watches there the last time I checked.

At Magic Kingdom they'll be at the "watchmakers/jewelry store" on the right hand of the street (as you face the castle) right before the side street where the silhouette artist is set up.

I'd assume that the Birthday Gift Card would count toward the purchase of the watch as long as you were making the payment on your birthday, while the card is valid. It just can't be used toward park admission, food or beverage.

Don't know how long it takes, sorry.

I would love one of those watches too! I have never seen one but is sounds so neat! How expensive are they?

Last time I was at Hollywood Studios you could get the watches at a store half way down Sunset Blvd on the right hand side....

At least in a park you would have something to do while you waited for the watch.....

If I recall correctly they're in the $200-$300 neighborhood.

I just bought a Skagen at MK in May with the hidden mickey head in the chronograph...great investment!

I was thinking of getting the artist to draw a really handsome picture of Prince Phillip for me :-)

Aren't the gift cards good until there are no funds left on it? I guess if you're using it to pay for one of the watches that would deplete it, but out at DLR the cards have no expiration (that could be because it's a CA thing that gift cards can't expire). We've had Marc's since January (we don't buy a lot of stuff while at the parks) and he's only spent approximately $25 of the $69 and that was 2 weeks ago when he finally remembered to bring it with him.

Great idea on the watch, btw!

Scott was told he had to use all of the funds on the gift card he got instead of free admission for his birthday on his actual birthday.

That was on January 2nd, so things might have changed since then.

I read somewhere that it is a California requirement for any sort of gift cards to not expire.

So....having trouble spendign that $69? I can give you some pointers in blowing tons of cash at DL. :rolleyes1

Oh, I'll have no problem with $69..... or any other dollar amount *wink
