I know we usually have one of these each year. Since shopping is in full swing with potential low stock I need some ideas. This age seems to be one of the hardest to buy for. Post any great ideas you may have.

I'm not sure of the age of your 'young adults', but mine are 24 & 25. This years gift will be travel. The 25 year old is going to settlement on his first house next month and has what he needs for it, but not much leftover in budget for travel next year. Youngest is currently deployed and has some serious travel plans after that next year...so we are gifting them a few airline gift cards.

I have several young adults and their significant others I buy for.

Gift cards to their favorite places- hair cuts, nail salons, eateries.
Household items- this year my son is getting new towels, wash clothes etc. an instantpot with a crockpot lid and extra insert, rada knife set and sharpener. Others have asked for new comforters, new sheets.
My oldest daughter asked for new bras- she has a specialty size and they get expensive so it’s a great gift. Clothes they may not want to buy for themselves Or that help their current budget out. I’ve bought shoes and luggage as gifts as well.
Most of them have had computers built (usually a previous years gift) so every year at least one or more ask for some sort of upgraded component.
Sometimes it’s been new car parts - one year one daughter asked for rims.
Two Year (or any multi month that fits the budget)) kindle unlimited for those who like to read.

age/living arrangements (at home/at school/beyond...) make a big difference for my choices. with our grad who lives interdependently i try to do a mix of fun and practical. really into anime so i ask for a specific list of movies/shows that are coveted for their collection, has gotten into watching some older tv shows (older as in 80's/90's :rotfl: ) so i've grabbed a couple of full series sets at low prices. the practical part of me bought a nice ugg comforter last year which was greatly appreciated and odds and ends of small appliances. i do i.o.u. cards ('i will pay for your next...') that i know will help streeeeeeeeeeeeeeech the household budget-haircuts, oil changes...gift cards these days i will only do with businesses that i'm sure are staying open b/c too many people bought gift cards to help support small bushiness last year only to have them go under anyway so their gifts to others were worthless-costco (multiples in small amounts so a person w/o a memberships can shop there), local chain grocery stores, drug store. i've also been known to gift the much better priced large bottles of shampoo my oldest likes as well as food items like flavored olive oils. i love to do silly but practical stuff in stockings (crockpot liners went over really well cuz she never thinks to get them until she's mid cooking with the crockpot).

Gift cards. Portable phone and electronic charger. A couple of books they have been wanting to read. Their favorite candy. A piece of clothing they’ve needed updated (like a new pair of slippers or a couple new pairs of jeans).
Also if they have moved into their first place recently: a fire extinguisher, a clock, toilet paper, paper towels, batteries.

Thinking of getting our young adults TSA precheck...or the cash earmarked for that. Luggage. Last year oldest wanted bedliner for truck. New running shoes and/or entry to a race/sporting event. Keurig.

Our favorite things to get were things we loved, but weren't always in the budget. Gift certificates for, say, the movie theater and dinner somewhere, or Dunkin, so that we could treat ourselves when it just wasn't in our normal budget.

This year, we're all going on a family vacation this summer, so my in-laws are buying everyone (except us, since we actually have some), some good luggage. Practical, but also a great present because it's going to be much better than, say, the walmart stuff we can buy :P

Also, I've found that you can NEVER go wrong with snacks and chocolate.

DD21 is getting a new bed frame this year plus a few smaller gifts of clothing and small kitchen appliances for a future apartment (she goes to school locally so lives at home still).

Her boyfriend also 21 is getting a Keurig Coffee maker, and a starter tool box. I also got him a "100 Date Nights" scratch off poster, because DD hates the fact that he never plans their date nights, it always falls to her.

And as a gift to both of them, I am "paying" air/hotel for the boyfriend to come with us to visit extended family at Christmas (actually using FF miles and Hotel points to cover most of it). DD I would always cover (at least until she graduates college which is this Spring), but covering his is outside my obligations, making it a gift.

Stocking stuffers tend to be either practical or completely stupid LOL Practical stuff this year includes underwear, facial products, a refillable pod for the Keurig, travel tie case, etc. Stupid stuff includes some silly socks and post it notes that look just like our cat. Both will also get $50 Amazon GCs to pick up little items they are disappointed they didn't get ;)

(For those of you wondering, DD insists her boyfriend is "the one", so I humor that although I still have my doubts just based on their ages. And there's nothing wrong with spreading some extra love at Christmas if you can! He's a good kid, even if they don't work out as a couple, but has some issues at home so he appreciates it all.)

I think I'm going to upgrade their phones and keep them on my plan and continue to pay for it and let them continue to live here rent free ;)
I'll wrap up some small stuff for under the tree and stocking stuffers but I'm not making any kind of list or going crazy with stuff for them. They've reached the practical gift stage of their lives

My mother is the same way with stocking stuffers! Gift cards, new versions of makeup you are running out of (speaking of which washable makeup removers are AMAZING), travel sizes of things one would use on a trip, purel, Lysol wipes. You name it it’s in your stocking lol

One thing I will say that my mom insists on doing for my cousins and I even though we are all over 18: at least 3 books you want. Or an Amazon/ Barnes and noble gift card for getting books. Really helps when you are in college too. Cant tell you how many spring semester books I got for or from Xmas when I was in college

DS 26 is getting the iphone 13 (We already got that for him) and maybe that new crazy expensive lego Titanic model (He's really into Titanic history, etc. and thinks this is really cool.)

Other years we have done things like theatre tickets (good seats for two) to a traveling broadway type show he'd like to see.

One year it was a one day park to park ticket to Universal for two plus the one time express pass (wanted to do one day at Universal on an Orlando trip that wasn't really in the budget). That was about $650 for two for a spring break week.

Reminds me I need to pick up some travel size deodorants for both stockings LOL Razors often make an appearance too :) And DD would be mad if I didn't throw some makeup remover wipes in there as well. I like to get stuff that is needed, but you get to the store and go "gosh, that's expensive for what it is - it sucks I have to spend my money on that!"

One thing I grabbed that I think DD is going to be thrilled with is some rechargeable batteries (from Ikea - very reasonably priced) She has some flameless candles she uses just about every night, and goes through batteries like crazy.

I got my brother a set of good luggage for his birthday, and he loved it. I always struggle with what to buy him. For a joke last year at Christmas, I bought him one of those "Cozy" sweatshirt things, and he loved it. He wears it all the time. Who knew, and he's so fussy about his clothes!

I'm getting my girls a spa day gift certificate for a sister day together. Mani/pedi and facials.

I'm paying her mobile phone bill for the year and then some of her favourite hand cream, a Disney tree decoration for her forever Christmas collection (she loves our family collection so I've started one for her), a reusable coffee pod, the making of margaritas and a good wallet.

Well, I'm shopping again - so much for being done! Our plans to travel at Christmas got scrapped due to DD21 not being able to get off work, so that meant the plane tickets/hotel room for her boyfriend to come with us can no longer be counted as a "gift" to the both of them. (The airline changed our flight schedule so badly this past week, I can get a full refund for the tickets.) So I felt the need to add just a little bit more to their hauls. But just a bit. I'm still trying to cut back from previous years - they are adults, working part time and are buying plenty of stuff for themselves with their own money.

I picked up a nice pair of dress slacks, dress shirt and tie for the boyfriend at Kohls for interviewing in the Spring. Yay for college graduation! DD didn't like my choice of a peach shirt, but I think it's going to look sharp with the slacks and tie - what does she know :smooth: I also grabbed him a couple of pairs of black khaki-type pants that he can wear to his current job at a car parts store and if any future job environment is business casual - I noticed the pair he usually wears had quite a few holes in them the other day; DD says he likes to wear things until they just can't be worn anymore LOL It feels a little odd to be buying him these types of things, but I'd rather get him things he needs instead of more video games or whatever (I've gotten him some "fun" stuff already, so I'm not a total Grinch ;)

I'm still not sure what else I will get for DD - she's such a shopper and buys everything she wants. I'm eyeing a headboard...but it's more than I wanted to spend. Maybe a decent sale will come up. Otherwise I may just give her cash - courtesy of the First Bank of Santa :santa:

I'm not sure of the age of your 'young adults', but mine are 24 & 25.
Mine are roughly the same age. Some things I've bought:
- Nice Osprey day packs with water bladders
- Nice camera for my daughter who just had a baby
- Stroller bag for the same daughter
- Nike hoodie for my son-in-law
- Socks for everyone -- aren't nice socks just a special pleasure?
- A couple grill items -- always a hit for the guys
- Leather work tote bag with built-in phone charger for my recent college grad
- A couple board games and a puzzle (it's chickens!)
- Another edition of the new, hardcover illustrated Harry Potter books
- Fur-lined moccasins to replace the ones that are falling apart /my daughter won't throw away

For their various stockings:
- Washable "cotton rounds" -- for make-up, etc.
- Reusable cloth sandwich wrap -- my youngest got one last year, and she's loved it
- Mini-bottles of unusual or new alcohols
- Charcoal toothbrushes
- Dominos -- the game, not the pizza place
- Nice lotions
- I haven't bought candies /snacks yet, but I will as the time draws closer

Something I put in everyone's stockings last year: emergency /safety window-breakers /seat-belt cutters to keep in their cars. I also gave them each a piece of velcro to attach the "breakers" to a good spot in their cars.
a fire extinguisher
A fire extinguisher is my daughter's go-to shower or wedding gift. As she says, "There's nothing uncool about safety".
I picked up a nice pair of dress slacks, dress shirt and tie for the boyfriend at Kohls for interviewing in the Spring.
Something smart I did for my kids: About the time they finished high school, I started buying them a professional outfit for their birthdays (mine are all spring babies) and Christmas -- it was an "extra gift". I always had them choose something very simple and classic -- like gray slacks and good basic loafers. At first they didn't think much of them, but as they needed to go to interviews or make presentations in class, or whatever, they were ready /didn't have to scramble to find something quickly. When they finished college, they all had a small professional wardrobe.
