Gift card vs Amex Discount

Taking my family in February for three days. I was going to buy the kids Universal gift cards as one of their holiday gifts. The designs are great. However, I see that we can get a 10 or 15% discount when we use our AMEX card so if I get $150 in gift cards it will essentially cost me $15-20 dollars extra.

I keep seeing a mention of a AAA discount on merchandise but no details as to how much it is. Is it the same as the AMEX discount? If not, it might make more sense to let the boys pick out what they want and put it on the AMEX card (but then they don't get the cool cards to hold for two months before the trip).

Is there a discount when buying the gift cards with an AMEX card?

the AAA card allows a 10% discount off of food and merch.


i don't believe you can get the discount when you buy gift cards with the AAA or the AP cards.

now if i am wrong, someone will correct me.


i don't have the AMEX card anymore so i'm not up on the additional discounts they allow.

if you do not recieve any replies on your question, contact AMEX and find out now so you can make the decision of buying the gc in advance or in the park.
