Gift card sales at stores??

I am curious about a thread below that talked about Winn Dixie holding a gift card sale at certain times of the year. As much as I would consider hopping a plane to the southeast from Philly to get discounted cards to get a deal like this (LOL, kidding) I doubt we can swing it . I get updates for cards I want on Cardpool.com and Plasticjungle.com but I have never heard of grocery stores having 'gift card sales.' Are there any in the northeast or mid-Atlantic that have these types of sales?

Target has started selling a few gift cards in the electronics section... Darden Restaurants, IHOP, Chuck E Cheese, Disney, etc... If you have a Target Debit/Credit card, you DO get 5% off. Granted not a huge chunk of change, but still...

Last summer Giant in SE PA had a gift card special. I can't remember the particulars but it was some amount of $$ back or off the value of the gift card. I went to several Giants at the time but they were all cleaned out of the Disney cards by the time I got there.
You need to keep an eye out and jump on something when it's announced!

Thank you both so much. I also saw in a post below that Acme had something once where if you buy $100 of a gift card you get $20 for Acme. Not bad. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that for Acme too but can't find when it happened. I went through flyers from the last couple of weeks that were still in my recycling with no luck.

I am hoping Giant does their sale again this year and I can beat the rush to the store to get the Disney cards!

Ha! I just searched for the closest few Giant stores, I will probably try the one in Frazer first if I see the sale. Good luck!!

Nice thing about Winn Dixie besides it being in our town is that they take a credit card payment for gift cards which allows us to get our points. Most other places dont allow this, cash only.

yes this recent Winn Dixie gift card promotion is when I have 5 times the usual reward points on my credit card. this equals another $12.50 in savings for every $300 i buy.

The Acme deal was around Father's Day. I bought $700 in Disney gift cards and got $140 to spend on food (in $20 increments). Used them to pay off my trip.

Before that, Genuardis had buy $50 in gift cards, get $10 Catalinas, and I bought $150 in Macy's gift cards for a wedding I was going to. That deal ran around Mother's Day. I used a credit card with a 2% rewards to buy all gift cards.
