Gift Card Question

I am buying Disney gift cards from Target to pay for my package to save 5%.

I have been using the Disney gift card site to consolidate my cards as much as possible to make less work for my Dreams agent.

I now have 3 empty cards on my profile from my recent payments.

I know I have to keep the physical cards on case something happens and Disney needs to refund me but can I delete the digital info from my profile?

Also, if I add and consolidate more cards for use on my trip (would like that 5% off at Savi's), can I immediately delete the fully loaded digital card from my profile to lower the risk of someone hacking my account? Or would this create issues when I go to use the physical gift card in the park?

Thank you in advance!

I would never keep a card on the Disney GC website. Delete all of them at the end of your session. You can always add them back if you need to merge more funds onto them.

I agree.

Most of us keep a spreadsheet in Numbers/Excel that keep track of the Card Number, Pin Number and the Amount on the card so that we can copy and paste it into the disneygiftcard.com to transfer balances. We then delete the cards from the site as soon as we have transferred the balances.

The cards can hold up to $1,000.

Unfortunately the site does not allow you to transfer partial amounts from a card as it is all or nothing.

This means with my OCD causes me to go get a variable load card with xx amount of cents on it to make the balance and even number :)

Yes and yes.

Both actions are recommended. Disney says not to store cards online, but just use it as a tool to view charges and consolidate.

I thought it allows partial transfer amounts, no? I think it let me do that. Maybe I’m wrong?

Maybe I am unlucky but I have bought thousands of different gift cards in small amounts to maximize the savings towards my DVC dues and it has never worked for me.

Really irks me because then I have to figure out which cards to combine to make them even lol

Yep, all or nothing. When you transfer one card amount to another, the page simply says Do you want to transfer, not How much do you want to transfer.
Ok Yes that’s correct and my experience. Maybe I misunderstood PP. I thought they meant that they can’t transfer random (partial) balance amounts. That if they had a card for $50 originally and $47.50 remained on it that it had to be $50 for a transfer. I think I better understand now that their issue is they prefer to have “even” amounts on the card with no change leftover and since they can’t customize the amount they transfer then they have to buy cards w/ very specific amounts that, when transferred, will result in one card with even or full card amount. 🤪

Yes that is my OCD sorry if I did not explain that correctly!!

Nope. They don’t. They say don’t use it as a mobile wallet. It’s not Apple Pay- you can’t use it to make actual payments. Because you know some genius put a card on there, destroyed it, and was shocked they couldn’t pay with the website while at Disney 🙄 And if you don’t like my definition of mobile wallet just think it through practically- they wouldn’t allow you to store up to 6 cards on the website if they didn’t want you to. It would be idiotic to allow that if they didn’t want people to use it. They would simply have programmed a website that allowed transferring of gift cards and not gone to the extra work for the rest of it.

People may not feel comfortable storing their gift cards on the website but Disney is not telling people not to do it, just don’t destroy your physical gift card!

I agree with what you are stating.

The site states "IMPORTANT: This is not a mobile wallet and should not be considered as such. Be sure to keep your physical and digital Disney Gift Cards with you as they will be required to make any purchases."

I believe people advise against storing your cards on the site is that peoples accounts have been hacked before.
If your account were to be hacked and you had cards stored they would be able to combine your cards.
They would then be able to transfer those combined balances to one of their cards and then delete their cards.
When you logged in next time you would either see a balance of $0 on all of your cards or no cards at all.

I have stored the maximum 6 cards on the site previously with no issue however I no longer do this.
I will store a few cards on the site when on a trip to add money to a card.
I do this mainly so there is just one card to copy and paste when mobile ordering since we still can not charge mobile orders to our room.
