Gift card lost but I have the receipt!

The one and only gift card that I pre-purchased got lost in the Christmas crazy. I have been looking all over the place for it, it was for DD-9 to Claire's. Then I found the receipt in my purse and thank goodness they put a gift card number on it so I think I can just give them my receipt and use the money yay! Hoping to help someone else who lost a gift card.

What if someone finds it and uses it before you bring in you receipt?

good question but I really think we lost it in our house and I'm planning on taking DD to spend it on Jan 1st

I lost the penny's gift card for $50.00 my mom bought me somewhere between her house and my house on Christmas Day. Went to Penny's the next day with the receipt. After a bit of a run around at the register I was sent to Customer Service in the back. They took my id, canceled the old card and re-issued me a new one. Good luck. Be persistent.

Glad to hear it will work out for you. I have to say that where I work they wouldn't give it you. We have had a group of individuals that have devised a scam involving the gift cards. One person will have the card and the other the receipt. The one with the receipt comes in and says they have lost te card and would like a new one. Now once the one with the receipt gets the money put on another card, another person(with the card) goes into the store to make a purchase. The person claims they are the one with the card and because they physically have the card in hand they should get the money put back in the card. This person makes such a stink. We believe that she is the person who buys the cards because of how she pays for it using her card. We know she is working with some others to get additional free cards. The other cards(from the person with just the receipt) are spent immediately so they can't be closed. Yes, this is being investigated but it is hard to prove. So now no one legitmate or not can get replacements.

I had this problem with an Old Navy gift card. They reissued it with no problem.
