Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Celebrity Ghost Stories is on Saturday nights on Biography. I really like it.

So, the next 2 weeks are the best of the year for this stuff!!!! It's my favorite time of year. :thumbsup2

We watched Extreme Paranormal last night on A&E.

It is a 3 man team with a film crew that tries to reinact deaths to provoke the spirits. They did a summoning charm and had a protection circle. One investigation was in a prison and the other was, get this, on a lake. One guy got in a wet suit and scuba gear and claimed a hand had pulled him down into the water twice.

There was a lot of activity just off camera, though they did show one shadow person. And after both investigations, with no real tangible evidence, they claimed, "There was a lot of activity. This place is definitely haunted."

To which one guy replied, "Absolutely!"

Maybe I am jaded, so anyone else should watch for themselves, but I found it laughable and not credible at all.

On a more positive note, I just read in my very local paper that there is a TAPS-like paranormal investigation group nearby! I am going to be tucking that information away to think about! It was actually a pretty nice article, which surprised me. My area is so strong in the bible-thumping way, that we don't have Halloween in schools and on more than one occasion I have been prayed for because I read Harry Potter!--at my own church!

As I began reading your post, my first thought was "Well why didn't you tell us about the show before it came on last night, not after?" However, after reading your review, thank you for NOT sharing beforehand. :rotfl:

I wish there was a one-stop shopping place where we could find a list of all the paranormal/ghost shows on this month. It's the only time I can get a good fix. :woohoo:

I watched it too and thought the same. It's like a cheap knock off of Ghost Adventures. Except they do REALLY stupid stuff, like summoning spirts... I thought Zack was crazy to challenge the spirits at the places they go to but these guys were doing weird rituals that looked a little satanic to me. :scared1: Not too bright IMO. NEXT!

Hi there! Another GH fan - right from their state. :)

I have watched GH & GHI from the beginning.. love it! My Weds. nights are "my time!"

I also have seen that show with that kid -- Zack?? IMO, he's not a very credible ghost hunter..Seems like he thinks he is a "Mr. Tough Guy" alot, and comes across somewhat arrogent. Seems like those guys are just out there to credit every bump in the night to a ghost or something.. i don't know.. just my opinion. I know some here may like that show.. If you do, that's fine, As i said, i will watch it for entertainment when i need a fix and GH isn't on..
Haven't seen that other show mentioned above though..
I kinda feel like some of the junk they put on tv does a discredit to shows like GH/GHI.

I am also starting to really like Destination Truth - it's pretty interesting, and Josh is freaking funny!!! I don't think i would be able to do 90% of the stuff he does.. and he does it with such a sense of humor..

Caitsmama, I have to agree with you about Zack(?). He such a tough guy until something happens, they he runs screaming from the room. :rotfl: He's always daring something to happen, then can' handle it when it does. ;) I personally like the other guy on his team - the big guy that's always afraid. At least he's honest, and funny too!

Extreme Paranormal was even more ridiculous than Paranormal State. :rotfl:

I love GH and GHI but those two above are so stupid. I still watch them though but usually for the laugh factor.

Caitsmama: I could have written your post! I feel the same about Zack & his show--do you know what it reminds me of--my friends & I used to find abandoned farmhouses on weekends when we were teenagers & we would go inside & freak ourselves out looking for ghosts. It was great fun--that's what ghost adventures seems like to me. I watch it just for laughs--it's so non-professional compared to GH. GH will always be the best in my opinion!:worship:

Yeah, Ghost Lab was pretty cool. I will wait and see, but the first two episodes were reasonably entertaining.

I was all excited, I thought I found a new paranormal show on Animal Planet (that should have been my first cue) called Lost Tapes. It set itself up like Blair Witch or Cloverfield with these supposed lost tapes of 'victims'.

If you aren't interested in fictional accounts of werewolves or the like, then don't bother. They only last 30 minutes and the werewolf one I watched was at the very bottom of my threshold of too dumb to watch vs. just smart enough to keep me interested. DH definitely was not interested at all.

Don't get sucked in otherwise.

Ghost Hunters this week was pretty amazing with an opening and closing door. They visited Fort Henry. But I can't watch anymore without thinking in my head that they could have faked it. Even when it looks pretty legitimate. I don't voice that since it is a show that DH and I enjoy together, but the thought is always there.

Destination Truth was pretty good as well. Josh Gates is just an entertaining guy, even when he has the GHI guys on.

Herd,

I feel the same way! I do like Ghost Lab because when they analyze the EVP"s they can differentiate the frequency which seems a little more credible. I think that GH has lost all of its allure for me since the new shows are on. Ghost Lab and Celebrity Ghost and I even like Ghost Advnetures which by the way is going to be live for 7 hours from I don't remember where on Halloween.

Guys

I just wanted to tell you if you go to You Tube and put in parnormrus1 it will lead you to this channel with more paranormal shows than you ever knew existed. I know I mentioned it before but this guys finds shows from England, Ireland, New Zealand etc. He also has all the standard ones too. If you ever miss GH or GL or PS etc just go there and he will have them up the next day. They are divided into segments but that is to cut out the advertisments.

Cool thread! I don't necessarily have a ghost story but a story that still kinda creeps me out to this day.

Setting: mid-May, 1988, Indiana, PA. I went to college for two years at Indiana University of PA (IUP), it's a smallish college town. Since the spring of 1987, there were issues with people (can't remember anymore if it was one or two people or a group) going around at night and beating people to a pulp with baseball bats. No lie - there was at least one person MedEvac'd.

Soooooo, stupid 18 year old that I am, since it's the end of the semester and we'll all be heading home soon and I already know I'm not coming back in the fall and I'm gonna miss this little town and my friends... a few nights before finals my BFF and I decide it'd be a good idea to take a walk around the town once more for old time's sake. :sad2:

I used to remember street names but not so much now. :confused3 Anyway, we're walkin and talkin away and eventually decide we'll head back to the dorm. Turn a corner and my stomach doesn't feel too good. Keep walking down the block and my stomach keeps getting more and more and more upset. "Mmmm, Faith? I think we need to get off of this street. Let's go another way home." We poo-poo and laugh off my weirdishness but, nope, getting waaayyyy anxious now. Coming up to a small store on our right and I swear to God there's someone coming out from the side of the building with their arms up and behind their head like they're gonna chop me with something!! I scream (literally) and jump about 10 feet in the air - it's a mannequin in the store window. "OK, Faith, we're turning HERE NOW!!" Immediately after turning the corner, willies subside. We (obviously) make it back to the dorm unscathed.

Two days later, we're hangin out in our room when we find out that someone was beaten up 2 1/2 blocks down the street from the store that I freaked out in front of.

Never, ever underestimate a "stupid" gut feeling!

Ghost Lab starting now on Discovery Channel. Don't know if I like it because of the subject matter, or the fact that Mike Rowe is doing the voiceovers for it.

Missed it!!

But, tonight is the great night! GH and Dest. Truth!! whoohooo!!!

PrincessKsMom, I totally would have warned you that it was coming, but I didn't know until I searched through the guide that day. I think they are replaying it again and again if you really want to check it out. They did catch a shadow figure, but I thought it looked pretty doctored. You might not. I am certainly not any sort of an expert on that sort of stuff.

I have also been watching Ghost Stories on the Travel Channel. They play those again and again as well. It is true stories, reinacted. The narrator is Jay Thomas-name sounds familiar as did the voice, but I can't place him. They try to be spooky about it but there is barely any evidence, just retellings. I think maybe they had an EVP but may have that confused with another show. I have watched only a couple of them and don't think I will set them to record. Travel Channel can be pretty sanitized.

My DD13 just came out and told me that they announced on SyFy (duh, it should still be SciFi, but that's another thread entirely) that there will be a Ghost Hunters live episode this year on Halloween:

Let the festivities begin! :worship: :yay: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Ghost Adventures is going live too!

Travel Channel Presents Ghost Adventures LIVE

October 30th - 7 Hours - LIVE on The Travel Channel

A 7-hour Paranormal Investigation of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV

On Oct. 30 the Ghost Adventures Crew -- Zak, Nick and Aaron -- will lock themselves in one of America's most haunted locations for the most ambitious LIVE paranormal investigation ever attempted. Built during the Civil War, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV, is the second largest, hand-cut stone building in the US, second only to the Kremlin in the world. For decades its massive walls housed the insane, the neglected and the unwanted. Patient-on-patient violence was common. Inmates were subjected to brutal medical procedures. The asylum was finally shut down in 1994 and stands empty, there were much reported paranormal activity in the asylum's 2-1/2 miles of corridors. Visitors were grabbed from behind and dragged into rooms. Mysterious figures darted through walls. Today, those brave enough to venture inside report hearing the incoherent screams of the former patients. Ghost Adventures will have unprecedented access to the entire asylum from the seclusion cells where the most violent patients were shackled to the medical center where hundreds of primitive ice-pick lobotomies were performed. The team will be padlocked inside the facility, unable to escape as they record their experiences. To aid in their investigation, they will be calling on both paranormal and technical experts. Viewers at home will have complete access to the investigation on air and online as it occurs. They can monitor webcams throughout the building, chat with the guys during the lockdown, post messages on the bulletin board and send mobile text messages. You won't want to miss one minute of this 7-hour LIVE event.

I know some wont tune in to GH halloween event because of last years episode, but I am thrilled they are doing one! :goodvibes

I just dont think I could get through 7hrs of that Zac guy from Ghost Adventures :rolleyes1

almost forgot....It'sWDW4me i grew up in Homer City right down the road from IUP small world huh? :wave2:

I like Zac! He's funny to me. :)

I hate to miss all of this but we'll be out of town. I hope that the Travel Channel repeats this show like they do all of their others...over and over and over... You know. :)

Speaking of the Ghost Hunters live thing, what is with the Ghost Hunters Academy? Has anyone else here seen the ads for this show? I see that they will be doing the live investigation instead of the TAPS regulars. We might have a few running away like Zac! :)
