Does the GF share a bus with other resorts to/from HS, DTD, or AK? If so is the GF the first stop to/from the parks?

going to DHS the bus stops at CR->POLY->GF
going to AK the bus stops at WL then GF
sorry but i dont know about DTD, i think its WL->GF

I have taken the bus back to DTD from GF the last few years of my trip and it has gone directly to DTD from GF. So I am not sure if there was a stop before it.

If you want to go from GF to HDS for the rope drop, does it make any sense to take the monorail to the CR to make sure you get on the first bus? I would have thought Disney would have more HDS busses running for the deluxe resorts. On the busier days, the bus is probably too full to stop at the GF.

It must depend on the time of year since I have never shared with CR and the Poly when staying at the GF. We normally only shared with WL (with WL being the first stop, GF second and then the park).

916chipndale has the stop order right, including DTD.

And yes, there are times when a bus may fill up before reaching GF and skip the stop. If you don't mind getting started 45 minutes earlier and you absolutely want to be at the park by rope drop, boarding at the CR wouldn't hurt.

I say 45 minutes based on 30 minutes to get from GF to CR (including wait time for the monorail), 5 minutes to walk from the monorail platform to the bus stop, and 10 minutes extra time on the bus since it will be stopping at Poly and GF on the way.

Or, you could just be at the GF stop 25 minutes earlier, and hang around outside DHS until the gate opens. Hopefully, 2 buses in a row won't skip GF, or if they do, some one will be on the ball enough to send an extra bus.

Maybe so - I've never stayed at GF and NOT had shared buses with CR/Poly. In fact, it was a stay there that was the last straw and convinced me to always use a rental car!

Again, it must be a time of year/time of day thing. We stayed at the CR in June and never shared with GF (or at least not in the AM). And at 8am on a non-EMH day, the buses were hardly too full to skip the GF. At the CR we only ever shared with the Poly (CR first stop, then Poly, then park)

I know that buses to DHS definitely do stop at all 3 Monorail resorts in the afternoon, but it may indeed be different in the a.m.

And it is not usual for buses to fill up before reaching the GF, but it does happen -- mostly right around park opening, maybe 8:30 to 10:00.

Wow, I didn't expect so many varied responses for this question. I guess we will have to wait and see how it goes when we get there. Hopefully, it will not be too crowded and the early DHS will stop at the GF.

In my experience it shouldn't be, especially at 8am. The bus should have already picked up at WL and will then take you on to DHS. That being said, I always make sure I am at the bus stop about 45 minutes before I want to be somewhere (irregardless of what resort I am staying at) to ensure we aren't late.

You also have another choice staying at the GF (also Poly guests have this choice).

You can walk to the TTC and catch a direct bus to DHS and Animal Kingdom. No other stops. However, the public transportation and offsite buses drop off there, so there will always be folks riding.

How long/far is the walk to the TTC from the GF?

About 15 - 20 minutes, but in the morning it is a quite pleasant walk and it is neat walking past the wedding pavilion and also seeing the different bricks in "walk around the world"

Far!

Like the PP said, you walk past the fitness center, past the wedding pavillion, through the Poly and then to the TTC.

It would almost be faster to monorail to the TTC instead. (OK, maybe not faster, but it would cut down alot on the extra walking. We tend to walk close to 8 miles per day in WDW and I certainly don't want to add an extra mile to that! :rotfl:)
