Have any of you received a Covid vaccine while in the US?

We are US citizens and live in TO. We will be in Hawaii in early-mid December and depending on how 5-11 approval and roll out goes here I am considering getting kiddo vaccinated while we are in Hawaii.

Has anyone had a dose outside of Canada? Any issues with aligning for the second dose in Canada?

Edit - mods please feel free to merge this with the similar thread that was posted! Slightly different question but a lot of overlap.

My sister and my brother-in-law live in South Africa and had no problems getting the vaccine while they were here this year. They had to get a second dose back home when they returned.

We got our second shots back in June on a trip to WDW. Moderna for me, Pfizer for DH. We got a CDC card from CVS, and the people filling them out even added our first dose info from our Ontario paperwork.

On return, we were able to submit our second dose info to York Region, who then submitted it to Ontario. We got updated Ontario receipts at the time, and now have one of the new Ontario “passports” showing we are fully vacc’d.

At the time, availability here was haphazard, and we wanted to avoid mixed doses and a lengthy wait for shot two. Vaccines there were easy and plentiful. We booked appointments, so we could guarantee locations with the brand we wanted. However, you could walk up to any Walmart pharmacy and get shots…they were even advertising it over the PA like a “blue light special” to try to encourage people to get them.

Quick update - we were able to get kiddo’s first shot this Saturday so following the US’s three week standard he can get his second shot on our last day in Hawaii. We made the appointment at the Ewa Beach Walgreens on our way home from his first jab in Mississauga!

I just want it done and be able to visit my parents in the US with him. I also don’t want to play around with Canadian timelines and availability because we have a DCL cruise booked for March break and if he’s not fully vaccinated we’d have to move that a third time.

I will be prob be getting my littles second dose of first doses go well while we are in the US over the holidays. Numbers are high now, I’d rather have full coverage in 5 weeks than 10. ( 8 weeks between then 2 weeks to be fully )
