Hi!

So, I'll be down in Disney World July 5-9, and I will be staying on the Disney property. I'm thinking about leaving the property one of the days to head over to Islands of Adventure.

What's the easiest way to get to Islands of Adventure from the Disney property if I'm NOT renting a car? Bus? Taxi? Walk?!!?

Thanks.

I vote for walk. It's very comfortable in Orlando in July. ;) Probably a Mears shuttle but I'm sure the locals can be more helpful. I couldn't resist the "walk" option. But if you do, head up Turkey Lake road. :thumbsup2

If you can take a bus, please do. I don't know much about the public transportation here as I have a car, but it's a might far to walk if you're on Disney property.

I think they were kidding. ;)

The Lynx bus is the cheapest way but it will take you several hours...yes hours to get from Disney to Universal. I would never recommend to someone to take the Lynx bus.

Mears is the best way to get there.

Check out www.mearstransportation.com for more information.

This is exactly the question I was going to ask!! Thanks OP!!

Can anyone tell me how much Mears costs? Just trying to get a "total" price for a day trip to Islands of Adventures before we commit to go..

Thanks

Thanks! Does anyone know what their schedule is like?? Do I need to make a reservation? Where does it make stops on the property? Thanks again!

we were kidding around when we said walk ........

if you are at a disney resort, make the ressie for the mears bus at the concierge in the lobby of your hotel.

you have to sign up the day before to guarantee your seat on the bus.

you are picked up at your hotel at a designated time.

the bus will go to other disney resorts for picking up guests going to universal.

the return is simple.
call an hour before you want to be picked up if you did not get a designated time to return.

I'd investigate a one day car rental from Alamo or National at the Customer Car Center CCC. Sometimes during the weekends, Alamo runs a special rate of $20 per day. You could rent for a 24 hour period, and save yourself a lot of hassle and expense. The CCC will also pick you up from your WDW hotel for free. I've done this the past 2 trips, rented a car for only 2 days, then scheduled any hard to get to table service meals, and excursions for the days I have the rental. I still use the ME to get to and from WDW. Good luck.

Don't forget the $14.00 parking charge.

The dreams unlimited site has a package 2 parks 1 day and mears transport for 109.00. We plan on one day from our Disney vacation to go see Harry Potter and so far that is the best deal. A 1 day ticket is 79.00 plus then your 18.00 transportation so for 9.00 more you can do both parks.

We stay at the Boardwalk and rent a car from Alamo or National at Swan (or is it Dolphin?). Pick it up at 8:00 and drop it off when we get back. We also combine a grocery run on the way back and stock up for the week. This year where doing Universal one day and maybe a trip to the coast (Vero Beach) for a day. It's $ 47.00 for the day, full size. Just an option we like. The Hess station right by Boardwalk has had the cheapest gas in the area. That has always amazed me.

I used to use the cabs alot, usually ran me around $20 from LBV before tip to Universal each way but called this week for an estimate from the Boardwalk to Discovery cove and it was $25-$29 each way. I decided I would not partake in quite as much of the free Budweiser and save the $60-$70.

How many people are in your party? Mears is probably the cheapest option, around $20 round trip, but a cab is easiest, but also probably the most costly, at around $80 round trip.
