Can anyone tell me if it's possible to catch a bus from DD to the boardwalk or EPCOT and back again? If so, how late do busses run from the Boardwalk or EPCOT back to DD?

Yes you can take a bus from DTD and Epcot to the Broadwalk. The Epcot buses run until 1 hour after the park closes. THe DTD buses run to and from Broadwalk up to 1 hour after they close. Epcot buses do not go to DTD.

There are busses DTD to Boardwalk. None DTD to Epcot. None Boardwalk to Epcot (there is a boat to the International Gateway or a short walk).

How early in the morning would a bus run from DTD to Boardwalk?
That's the $25,000 question. There is little need for buses to run from DTD to any resort early in the morning. The DTD shops open around 10ish, so the resort buses start running there at about 9am. But, the buses going back to the resorts are not all that plentiful. You can not count on the bus dropping off BW guests at 9:15 is going to be returning to BW..it could very well be heading to POP to pick up more guests for DTD.

Not very.

DTD makes a very poor transportation hub. Years ago, people staying offsite would park at DTD and then take the buses to the parks so they could avoid paying parking fees.. Since that made it very difficult for people who had legitimate business at DTD to find a parking spot, Disney made it very inconvenient to do that.

I personally think the short walk is a lot faster because it's less then 5 minutes away. Although should anyone want to take the boat the Boardwalk is the 1st stop once it leaves the International Gateway.

The stores in Downtown Disney Marketplace open at 9:00 AM. As for the buses don't forget they also stop at Typhoon Lagoon, although I am not sure how much of a factor that is.

Not all stores open at 9am...I've arrived in DTD for 9 and had to wait awhile before the stores I wanted to shop at were opened.
And there are times during the year that TL isn't even open...so you can't add it into the equation.
The problem is that if you are trying to get a bus back to a resort, from DTD, much before 10:30ish, it's going to be hard. Not impossible, but the buses just aren't all that regular at this time.

Boat or walk between BW and Epcot??? Up to each person to decide. The boat is a bit faster if you walk at a normal pace. I tend to get there at about the same time, but I also tend to be a faster than normal walker. Same thing going the other way.
