Getting Ready for our July Trips to the World

So my day is going well so far ... aside from my tummy being off and me running to the bathroom on and off all morning :( It's my own fault ... all the crap I ate this week/ast night... ugh!

I was not hungry at all this morning but I finally made myself eat some cataloupe and watermelon and drink water.

Lunch was collard greens (I have been addicted to them lately!! yum!) and also a smart ones pasta meal... plus more water :)

Dinner will be baked BBQ chicken legs, no skin. Also potatoes of some sort ... and a veggie of course.

One thing I did that I am proud of today ... I had 6 cans of root beer left sitting in my pantry and I had been grabbing it to drink ... I dumped them all out today! I am not really a soda person, but when I get into eating crap, if soda is around I will grab it. Does anyone else buy junk just to feel guilty and then throw it out? I must waste so much money doing that :( I hate it and wish I could just STOP!

Anyway, no gym today because tomorrow is zumba :) My instructor teaches every other Saturday ... so when it is her weekend, I skip Friday workout and do zumba on Saturday.

Have a great Friday the 13th everyone!!!

WOOHOO!!!

I got the okay to walk (slowly, carefully), swim, AND use an elliptical!

My doc was a little reluctant on letting me use my recumbent exercise bike, but said I could, if I'm careful!

:banana::banana::banana::banana: <---allowed
:yay::yay: <-- not allowed! ;)

I FINALLY - after 7 weeks! - had an actual diagnostic exam on my sore leg and it turns out I tore BOTH muscles in my calf. BOTH. Even my doctor said "...this explains why you are in a great deal of pain."

Now I can start moving again, albeit slowly and carefully, so Disney won't be QUITE the same shock to my system!!

Plus, I think it'll make me start feeling better about myself. It's hard to keep your weight down when you are forced into inactivity, so it's been a very long seven weeks so far. At least, since I can work out, I'll start to feel like I am the one in control of me and my body, instead of outside circumstances.

New day! I start again, today!! pixiedust:

Glad that you are on the mend! Take it slow though so you don't re-injure yourself.

After a ridiculous day at work, I came home and did Jillian Michael's 30 day shred workout 1. I haven't done that workout since last summer so it was a nice change. Easier than it used to be. Still can't do "real" pushups and still nearly fall over doing static lunges with biceps curls. :rotfl: I can't walk and talk at the same time either so that's no surprise!

Glad to hear you can start walking again. 2 torn calf muscles sounds very painful. Make sure to follow the doctor's orders.

I love Jillian. There is a program call 100 push-ups that is designed to get you do to 100 push-ups. I have never done it but I heard it works.

Good morning!!!!!

Today starts a new week for me and I'm going to take advantage of it. I already got my workout done. I got to the gym and did legs and abs. Right now I'm enjoying my recovery drink. I'm going to track every point I consume this week and hopefully will see results on the scale.

Thanks, ladies!! :hippie:

You can bet I will follow orders and do what I can to NOT reinjure myself. Heck, I'm not even feeling great, yet, so it won't be hard to NOT overdo it!

So, I started with a no resistance slow 20 minutes on my recumbent bike. I even wrapped my calf, for extra support. It was a good start. It didn't hurt! I don't hurt, now! I'll do another 20m tomorrow and if I still feel good, I'll start ramping up the time. I'm NOT going to increase the resistance, I think, for awhile.

I'm SO happy! It's nice that it didn't hurt!!! (I *have* been waiting for the doctor's okay before I tried ANYTHING)

8 weeks and 2 more days of recovery before we're there!!

Actually I did a program similar to that once, it's called US Army Basic Training at Ft Jackson, SC!:lmao: But that was a long time and 30 lbs ago!! It is much easier to push your body weight off the ground when you weigh nothing...and when you have drill sergeants yelling at you!;) About a year ago I found the 100 push-up program and printed it out (it prints in a special way so that it can be folded like a book) but I didn't really do it and I haven't seen it since we moved from Texas last summer. I'm slightly obsessed with my arms right now so maybe I'll Google that again. I try to do full push ups at first, then drop to my knees. I did 30 Day Shred again this morning, thinking about trying it for the actual 30 days this time. I've never gotten past day 10 because of boredom but it is such a quick workout and I can still elliptical or go walking afterward. Oh and just wondering...are grits with butter at Cracker Barrel considered a whole grain?!?:rolleyes1

I think I could use a drill sergeant - lol!!

I did really well yesterday, was under on calories, which was a good thing because I blew it today. Went out to lunch with some old friends - restaurant food just kills with calories. I only ate half but it was still killer in the calorie department. Also, no real exercise today. I am hoping that the two days will average out.......back to the grindstone tomorrow though.

OK so Friday the weather was rotten so didn't go out on my bike and yesterday I kind of cancelled my Body Pump class!! ARRGGHHH!! and ate too much cake!! OOPS!

Doing this

on Saturday - we go to take part not compete (well most of us do!), there are 17 of us from work doing it so it's much more a social thing than anything else but a couple of the guys are really fit and competitive. So need to get a couple of spin classes in before then as I really haven't done any real training.

I sooooooooooo need to sort my diet out though, I am being so lazy and eating way too much rubbish.

Yesterday, I did very well with my eating. This morning I wanted to go out for a run, but the weather is not cooperating. I went to the gym to use the treadmill. My leg felt pretty good this morning. I did a 10 minutes warm up followed by 17 min run, 3 minute walk, 17 minute run and 5 minute cool down. I could have run longer, but did not want to over do it. I have the March for Babies next SUnday, the Corporate Challenge a week from Tuesday and 5 weeks of personal training left. I can't afford to injure myself.

I get bored easy too, which is why I have a ton of videos and go to the gym.

I think the only program I ever finished was ChaLEAN Extreme which is 90 days, but that was subbing some of the cardio workouts

I hate eating out when I really trying. Applebee's is good because they have the WW items and the under 550 calories items.

Have fun at the 10 under Ben, it sounds like a lot of fun.

One thing that I find helpful, is to write down everything I eat.

Thanks!! It sure does!!

After I posted, we went out and did some errands. My leg did get pretty sore, but my husband and I realized that I'd forgotten to ice after working out!

Yesterday, I did another 20 minutes, but iced for 20 minutes and kept my leg elevated for most of the afternoon. No pain at all. One more attempt tonight and if I stay pain free, I'm taking Tuesday off and then pushing the time up!

However.

I also got on the scale today. There are a couple of problems with this:
-I didn't sleep well. This always seems to push my weight up.
-It's a certain time, which also pushes my weight up.
-It was a Monday. Monday's are bad days to get on the scale!

But it still wasn't pretty. Even if you figure a pound or two for the three things above, it's still not pretty. I just need to put my mind to it and log everything I eat and do a much BETTER job of eating! I can do this!!

(but it's frustrating, anyway!)

Sounds like you are doing great One Bad Apple!!

Well my week on the scales started off badly - 2lb gain since last Monday! OOPS!! Downloaded a new app on my phone last night which records calories and exercise so maybe that'll keep me in check!!

Week of exercise started off well though, left work bang on time this afternoon and headed straight to the gym for a spin class followed by an hour of Bodyjam which was great fun! Food been ok today.

So aiming to be good all week but I know the weekend won't be great as we are all staying two nights in a pub! eg Pub food and beer - at least there is exercise involved! and I'm veggie so I won't eat the big fried brekkie in the mornings that everyone else will have!

Going to try and check in here every day to keep my focus. Good luck for the week everyone!

Hi ladies, I'm baaaack.

My cousins were here (NY) from Scotland for 12 days. We had a lot of fun, ate a lot and shopped a lot. We also went into NYC for the day and generally had tons of fun. Ummm...the chocolate from there is way better than it is here.

Anyway, they left last night and I'm a bit sad today. But now it's time to get serious about losing perhaps 20 lbs before vacation. Soooo, after I take today to rest up I'm going to get my butt in gear tomorrow.

Anyone want to recommend an easy start, besides walking, for someone in terrible shape?

Sorry you are sad today - it is hard when fun times are over. I was in terrible shape when I started exercising, not sure I am that much better now - lol! Anyway, I started with Wii Fit, and the exercise bike in addition to walking.......

I do like the Wii fit. We also have EA Sports Action for the Wii. I was thinking of getting Zumba for it, but I read reviews that it was really hard.

I was just talking to my friend and we're going to start walking every day. I want to walk indoors, because the weather here is going to be disgusting this week, but she wants to go outside. I don't know what we're going to do :)

Where in Scotland are you cousins from? Did you mean our chocolate is way better? I agree, chocolate is one of the few hideously fattening things I don't touch in the states - tried Hershey once and thought it tasted of vomit - lol! You do lots of other things way better though! Oh and you have Disney!! ;)

Anyway, left work sharpish again today and did another spin class. Was great but I'm feeling a little saddle sore  after two days in a row. I am booked again for tomorrow then better leave it alone til the weekend or I won't be able to sit on my bike!! :lmao:

I'm not being very good right now...in fact, I had a whole post about my day and how horribly awful I've been with my food choices and my YDD came up and punched keys which deleted everything I typed :headache::headache:

I will say that I have been cheating on my diet the past few days with NOT good options (right now I'm staring at part of a Quarter Pounder). I'm begining to think that my time of the month is comming up soon because that's when I have little to NO willpower what so ever. It's like my body takes my willpower (the part of me who helps me decided that yes a handful of strawberries is soo much better for me then that package of oreo's with a large glass of milk) and ties it up and gags it when this happens. I can somewhat hear that part of me and yet for some reason I go for the most fattening, sugary, salty BAD FOR ME thing I can pick up. I'm my body's worst enemy when I near my time of the month and so would like to hear I'm not alone or if anyone has hints as to how to break my body from tying up my willpower I would LOVE to know them!

Sounds like you are doing a great job! I wish I could run for 17 minutes, I do a fast walk with a couple of 1 minute runs here and there. You are right, writing everything down makes a big difference.

You could always take turns on the indoor vs outdoor walking. I hate to be outdoors in yucky weather so I totally understand.

I went back to the gym today after 4 days off - just had too many complications over the weekend. I also did something to my ankle and it was really sore for a few days. Anyway, had a good workout today. I weighed in yesterday and was down 2 lbs :yay: Hopefully, I can keep that trend up!

The only suggestions I have is to either distract yourself from eating - start doing something to get your mind off of it - or, just allow yourself a tiny bite of the bad item. Last evening I soooooo wanted ice cream. So I had one tiny scoop with about a half teaspoon of black cherry syrup......not much but it did help satsify the craving. It is hard, hang in there!!!
