I was wondering if you were to go to guest services right at park opening, about how long are the lines and how long would it take to get a DAS

there is no way to answer that. you could get lucky and have no one ahead of you in line and you be able to explain your needs easily and be in and out in 15 minutes, or you could find yourself in a very long line with only 2 CMs available to handle issues

Yep no one know some times at MK they do the DAS where you pick up packages next door to GR I have been in and out in 5 minutes and some times it takes 15

I would not go to the package pick- up place at MK expecting to get DAS there.
That is a 'hit or miss, maybe they are, maybe they are not' place that is probably used for overflow at times.
Guest Relations inside of the theme parks are the guaranteed places to request DAS.

Sue I should have said if you see GR CM there then that is where you need to go I have waited in the GR line got in told the CM what I need and then had to go wait in the other line over by package pick up I even on 2x asked the CM if I could just get my DAS there since I had to wait in line and they just say no

it is quiet easy to go in the left tunnel and if you see GR CM there stop in if not keep walking

And depending on the park they handle things a bit differently. At MK and Epcot, they have you stand in line the whole time. At the Studios, they have a CM that asks what assistance you are requesting and takes your name and then puts you in a virtual queue. They then have you take a seat (there are several benches right there) or stand, whatever you choose, in the nearby area. A CM will then come to you and depending on your need, you will go into the GS office with them or they will handle your concern right there. When I am renewing or adding people to my DAS, they have the necessary device with them. So they handle it right there. Their computer system must have a way of knowing and dividing up the requests, because even though they are always busy with a lot of people waiting, I get in and out of GS there pretty quickly and often before people who were in line before me. It seems to run very efficiently though.

Last week at rope drop at MK, no line atall, it took about 2 minutes (maybe less!) When we went to GR there was a line, not too long, but they had someone at the door directing people requesting das to go next door to package pick up, and they had 3 people there with portable devices doing only das.

I went this past Saturday right at rope drop, I upgraded to an AP and got a new (renewed) DAS in less than 15 minutes. As we left the park that day around 1 pm the line waiting for Guest Services was out the door so I was glad we had gone early. We were lucky as I didn't expect it to be that quick. It depends on the day, and the park. Sadly no one can predict what it will be like on any given day.

As of the last time I went, it depended on when you got there. They still had the cards and the girl at the MK guest services scanned the card from Disneyland without a problem

in 2014 we went to the park in the afternoon to get the DAS, they were very crowded and the CM that handled my situation seemed very stressed at the time. It took about 15 minutes though once we got through the crowd. When we went in 2015 we went to GS at park opening. The guy that handled our situation was very nice and very understanding and more cool calm and collective sort of speak. I really think that is because we were going at opening so the CMs hadn't been dealing with people all day before us, lol. Anyways we were the only ones at GS at that time and we were in and out in about 5 minutes. By the way both of these times we have gotten the DAS from Magic Kingdom. Not sure if its different from parks to parks.
