Getting from DL to Universal Studios

DW and I are going to be there in early Feb and were thinking of squeezing a day in at Universal Studios. I'm just wondering how long I should expect to be on the road to get there? I know Yahoo Maps shows it to be about 40 minutes, but it also takes me straight into LA which I assume has a bit of traffic in it. If I want to be there when it opens when should I leave DL?

It could take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours, we have had both. I would plan for a middle time, does not hurt to have some time to spare.

If you leave at a non traffic time it should take about 45 mins. Expect a bit of traffic. Give yourself an hour + to be safe if you're on a schedule. Make sure you go on transformers there, it's awesome
