Getting FP before park hopping

One of our days we plan to visit MK in the morning, then around 2 p.m. leave for AK. After AK closes, we are returning to MK for a few more hours to either watch the parade and fireworks show OR ride more rides.

Here's my question..........since the boards are telling me you can use your FP after the time expires (in most cases).......then I plan to get a FP for Space Mountain before I go to AK. And then use it in the evening when I return to MK.

Here's the question.......will I be restricted in AK to get another FP until the time for Space Mountain has expired........or since I've switched parks does the FP time renew, therefore I can get a FP immediately when I enter AK?

New park = new fastpass, you can get it immediately.

Depending on the time you leave MK, your Space FP might be for a time after you planned to return anyway.

People may have said FP can be used after they expire... but that doesn't mean someone SHOULD. That kind of messes up the whole point of the FP system. Maybe it is just me, but if we have a window... we come then or we don't use the FP.

We were told by a cast member that the computer keeps the FP time and not to bother trying to get another one at another park. (We went from AK to MK). We just waited until out time was up and got them. We frequently use our fast passes after expired. Only stopped once at Honey I shrunk the Audience. We were at EPCOT on NYE and used Soarin' fast passes after expiration with no problems. We were once told "I see you know the secret of using them anytime" by a cast member.

Using a FP "late" does not "mess up" anything.

MOST FP's are used nearly as soon as the earliest time printed on them.

Any that wait until later in that same day (past the "window") are so statistically insignificant that it simply does not matter.

Besides, a certain percentage of distributed FP's NEVER get used at all.

Don't worry about it.

Its not "wrong" or "unpatriotic" , or "un-Disney" or even "unusual".

:goodvibes

Its all up to the discretion on the CM working the FP entrance, and, while you won't be "guaranteed" that you can use an expired FP, there's (I'd venture) a better than 95% chance you'll have zero problems doing so.
(And not "mess up" any other guest's adventure.)

I recently read a trip report (maybe on Mouseplanet?) where the writer was VERY upset that her expired FP was not accepted at Soarin' Personally I think that if the intent was to regulate traffic (which it was) then the only way the system works as designed is to go during your window. (This is just another example of "that rule doesn't apply to me" that is so common today..)

I am not sure if you can get a new FP at AK prior to the time printed on the MK FP, sorry...

Keep in mind that have seen and or read of increasing numbers of cases where the CM's are enforcing the ride windows on the FP. On our trip the first weekend of April this was the case on Soarin, EE and Test Track. The CM's were not allowing folks with fastpasses that had "expire" to enter the FP line at all.

Its has happened to me personally once that I was not allowed to use an "expired" fast pass and once that we were. Both times we were late due to dining issues, neither of our creation.

I guess it can't hurt to try as long as you realize you may not be able to use your expired FP.
