Does anyone know where i can get the best rate for our dollars at the moment. Any proven sites etc

Thanks steve

Sam Do you have to have a Marks and Spencer Credit card to order off them?

I've always done my in store paying cash, I know my mum used a debit card in store and had to take ID with her. I think online is only for M&S card holders. On the website they have a list of stores with a Bureau.

The rate today on M&S is looking good, the hard decision is whether to hold on (we did say we'd buy when it hit 1.85!) or buy now? :confused3

Another vote for onlinefx.....got mine last week at $1.84 - £1.00, just checked for you and they are quoting $1.8689 - £1.00 today. Very easy to use, just order online and they are delivered to your door the next day.

me too, they even phoned me to confirm delivey would be the next day. Sent special delivery the next day. I will be needing more $$$'s soon, I'll use them again.

:cool1: see what the rate is at post office then go to thomas cook they will offer more than post office :cool1:

I use Travelex a lot. Their rate is typically just a little bit better than OnlineFX's (but take today's for example - it's only about a quarter of a cent better) but the difference is you have to pick it up at the airport - they don't deliver. That doesn't matter to me, but I can understand why some people prefer to have the cash (or TC's) in their hands before they leave.

You still order it online and will get today's rate no matter when you are actually travelling - good if it starts going down before your holiday.

I've always collected my $$s in person but like the sound of 'delivered to your door' :). Can you specify a delivery date / time with onlinefx or M&S to ensure there'll be someone at home to sign for them?

 Hi Hilary

M & S deliver the next working day if you order before 1 pm. Anyone in the house can sign for the package - it's a great service, and time it right and you have 6 weeks to pay too :)

Thanks for the info, Pootle and lagunn :)

I think if you buy through M&S using a M&S card you don't have to pay the cash advance fee that credit card companies usually charge.

The other thing to remember is that if you go with M and S and buy more than £500 there is no delivery charge. With fx online it cost £4.75 so you may not see the benefit of the higher rate. I booked my TC with M and S last Thursday in the morning and they were there by 1pm on the Friday. Courier delivery as well.

If your're not at home when the TC are delivered, you just collected them from the post office a few hours later.

I bought my TC's from onlinefx for the first time, based on the comments on this forum on Wednesday at 1.857.
Service was superb..they arrived at 9.30 am following morning.
Sure you pay a fiver for delivery, but the net result is still fantastic compared with 1.39 in 2002, our last visit!!
One happy customer here. :sunny:
