Getting around the parks

We are planning a trip to WDW Dec 2002 with my inlaws, me, DH, and DD (will be 2yo). My inlaws have a timeshare so they are providing the accomodations (great !) however my family has never "done Disney" from off site so I have no idea where to begin planning. Can anyone recommend a site or offer any suggestions on how to do it. (where to park, use busses or boats, etc) I know my 2yo will need to rest during the day but will it be possible to leave the parks and drive back to the hotel without it taking hours (the timeshare is supposed to be very close to WDW HOPEFULLY!) I hope I have asked this on the correct board. Help please!

Read everything on the DIS home page. Follow all the links. I would also recommend www.wdwig.com. It is an excellent site.

However, I always recommend that people going for the first time buy and read the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It covers transporatation well along with all your other touring needs. Above all DO NOT go to Disney without reasearching it! It is overwhelming and you will miss stuff!

By all means go to a book store and invest in one or more guide books (preferably with maps included). The more you know about WDW before you leave home, the better off you will be.

Mid-day breaks are a really good idea, especially when you have small children along. For adults, too. It's no longer fun when you are hot, tired, and your feet hurt.
