Getting AP Before Checking In

Hi All,

We're going to Disney Sept 4 - Sept 9. We're staying at YC, and I reserved an AP rate. I plan on purchasing one either before I go, or when I get there. Tiffany Towncar is picking us up, so we're going to be without a car.

What's the best way to get the AP? Can we leave our bags at YC to go get it? Should I order the AP online, or do they offer them at a Disney Store? What's the most convenient way to do this?

Thanks in advance!
Tammy

You should be able to get a voucher at your Disney Store. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having problems checking in with just the voucher instead of an activated pass. Then the first time you go to the parks, stop by Guest Services to have your passes activated.

I got ours voucher at our Disney Store at home before we left.
and then I went to downtown disney, before getting to the resort.. but I think if you show that you have a voucher you will not have any trouble.

I would definitely want to have at least the voucher before you go so that you have that on check-in. I don't know about the Disney stores in the USA but here in Canada, they don't stock the vouchers. We have to order them and they can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to come in. As well, just from experiences from my family, we have all found the best place to trade in your voucher for the actual pass is at Epcot. I think it's just generally less busy there.

I called AKL Mgr last year since I just had the voucher and coming in after midnight couldn't get it activated yet . He said 'makuna matata' LOL! (couldn't help myself) 'not to worry' so when we checked in way after midnight to AKL had no problem with voucher (can't remember if they even asked for it though) to check in at AKL. It was alright. Heck, half the time when you checkin they don't even bother asking you for it! Even if you didn't have the voucher don't think it be a problem to get it next day and run by front desk to show them that's what front desk told me.

If you are going September 4, I'd advise waiting until you arrive to get the APs. If you are asked for the pass at check in, just tell them your next stop is EPCOT and you'll be buying the pass there. The International Gateway is a good place to get annual passes - there's seldom a line.

There's nothing wrong with buying the pass ahead of time by phone, but I'd worry that there wouldn't be enough time for the voucher to get to me before departure. There definitely isn't enough time to buy from the Disney Store - they have to order the vouchers and then you go back later to pick them up. Could take two weeks or more. If you go the online route, you can't take advantage of the Disney Club discount.

Since you are flying, you can also buy AP/PAP tickets at the Disney Stores in the MCO airport terminal. The tickets you buy there are the actual passes and do not need to be exchanged at one of the parks like the vouchers do. Should only take an extra 5 -10 minutes if the store isn't too busy. I'd actually recommend this over the other options.

Enjoy your trip!
