Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

Saw something funny today advertised here and it got me thinking; Assuming these chicks (and dudes) really use these things, which is an odd assumption, but if they did, would anyone sleep with them? I'm on the fence.

Saturday night I was walking laps around my dining room table, through my living room, down the hall to the kitchen, through the kitchen and back into the dining room so that I could make 10,000 steps.

I work as a substitute one on one para educator and on Fridays the class I'm in has PE. While the kids are playing games I do laps around the gym to get my 10,000. Works out great because it's still early then and I'm usually able to hit 15,000 by the time I go to bed.

WOW! I'm very impressed! I started using my fitbit last Monday and I haven't hit 10,000 steps yet. I was over 9,000 twice, though, so I will get "green" for the steps one day soon!

Oh, and I did 1 hour of cardio (walking on treadmill and riding recumbent bike) and 30 minutes of strength-training today at the gym so I could enjoy my corned beef and cabbage (and green beer) dinner tonight! :thumbsup2

I run/walk for about 30 minutes on M, W, F and walk on T, Th and Saturday. I take Sunday off because everyone deserves a day off. I do it all in the morning which sets me up well for getting the rest of my steps in to reach 10,000.

I didn't dare click on it. Just dealt with a wicked computer virus over the weekend and really didn't need the possibility of another one.

I didn't either. I've had to "clean" my computers in the past, too though. Total pain!

Laps around the house work for me :) I strap my baby to my back, and 'round and 'round we go - get lots of steps that way :thumbsup2 I try to make sure to keep good posture, do some keels, do some lunges/squats etc at the same time. Work as much as possible while I do it.

I haven't and won't follow this - however, I'm curious as to why it's here. It makes total sense that it's here, in this thread (to me) however, your intro to the link makes me think you have no clue what CPAP is which again makes me wonder why your posting the link :confused3

CPAP is a life and marriage saver, and of course the person wears it while sleeping. The need for CPAP is also linked to weight gain and many other health issues. So I *get* why it's here. But no personal introduction, nothing else, 3 posts to your name = SPAM.

I reported the post by mrtoad87.

:thumbsup2
I just don't 'get' why people SPAM, especially for something obscure like that. I always wonder if people actually follow those links, and if so how many actually purchase anything. I mean it must be worthwhile to have the majority of the internet look at you like you with pity and disgust and not want to actually know the person behind the SPAM.

But then I like to talk to people and so couldn't fathom doing something that'd prevent me from talking. :rotfl2:

Crazy week so far... Really crazy... But I've managed to do my workout goals so far. Thank goodness for morning workouts!

I love morning workouts too. Never thought that would ever be something I would say.

Just finished Week 6 Day 2 of my 5K app. 5minute walk/10min run/3min walk/10min run/5min walk. Had some knee pain last week but realized that my posture wasn't the best. Figured out how I should be running and haven't had any recently.

Keep up the good work everyone! :goodvibes

Sorry I have been absent. I got the flu there 2 weeks ago and was out of commission for about 1 week. Back into working out 6days a week. Have not weighed myself as I don't want a number to control my thoughts. lol

This week has been harder with the bday, st Patricks, and we went to a concert last night and drank. Fortunately, I've still been doing my workouts and even though I feel like I've been so awful, it's not as awful as if I wasn't trying?! Glad it's over and eager to go back to same old.

I seriously love the fit bit. It's making me be more active- if watching tv, instead of sitting in the couch I move back and forth while I watch. On indoor recess duty instead of sitting at my desk I walked around the classroom for the thirty minutes. Not going to make me drop 30 lbs or anything- but has to be better than just sitting around?

I've also been tracking the distance and calories burned at the gym which is helpful to see progress and motivate to try and do a little more each time. I've been running on 4.9 and walking mostly on 3.5 and I have no idea if this is good or not.

Also, I love coming here. It's so helpful to check in and share with all of you!

I enjoy reading everyone's posts - struggles, victories, concerns - all of it. We're all on this journey together and that really helps.

I had a headache yesterday and talked myself out of going to the gym in the morning like I've been targeting. Got into my workout clothes and said I'd go later in the day, then said I'd walk on the treadmill in the basement, but ended up not doing that either. (Despite the fact that I had my jogbra on all day!)

Back on track today, though. Headed out at 10:00! :thumbsup2

Keep the faith, gang!

If you're working up a sweat and you are not lame the next day, I'd say these are good paces for you!

I haven't worked up to running yet, but I'm walking 35 minutes on the treadmill at speeds between 3.0 and 3.3 (inclines up to 7.8). My heart rate gets up to the low 150s, and it seems my fitbit only recognizes those minutes as "very active minutes". I know it has to do with METs, but since I'm not jogging or running yet, I don't "trip" the METs level often during my cardio workouts at this point. But I am seeing progress, so I'm taking it!

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING EVERYONE!!!!

So excited! Ran my first continuous 15 minutes today! Then walked for 3 and ran for 5. On Monday I go for a full 20 minutes. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Oh, I LOVE my new treadmill! Yesterday I ran in Venice, and today I will run in Ireland. ;) Plus, I'm really loving the fan. I can now run 5k distance without much difficulty, so I'm not stressing as much about the fall race. I need to work up my speed a bit, but that will come. Congrats to all on your progress!

Countdown: 19 Weeks Until August 1st!
(We're in the teens! )

So glad some of you are having such a good week! This week has been rough for me for some reason, and I'm not really looking forward to checking in tomorrow. On a good note, I've kept my morning routine of exercising and eating a good breakfast. And I've been sleeping well each night which is wonderful compared to where I was. But around Wednesday I either ate something that set my system off or I'm fighting off some bug, because my stomach started hurting and yesterday I got a bad headache and my muscles in my neck and back just kept getting tighter and tighter... I wound up having to take a mild muscle relaxant that I have for when it gets really bad. Things seem better this morning, although still my nick and upper back are stiff. As I type this I'm contemplating not doing my workout this morning. I'm worried I might set it off again... I can tell my fingers are swollen; my weight will probably be up when I weigh in tomorrow.. Just wish I felt better.

On a good note, those doing the 5k routine seem to be rockin' it! I did a 5k once. It was kind of a bitter sweet experience for me. Maybe I'll share tomorrow..

I know it's hard to decide to skip a workout, but it really seems as though it might be best in this case. Please be careful and don't hurt yourself!
