Maybe it should also be remembered that George Best was the first real celebrity footballer. He had no role models in how to deal with his success both on and off the pitch.
He was the first. The original. He lived in times of high excess and continued in that vein throughout his whole life.
Maybe we should focus on the great things he did during his career. He was a fantastic entertainer and his like are so very few and far between.
