Genie+ trouble with different tickets

Yeah, I’m in the same boat though for my christmas trip :(. That’s going ot really effect my ability to get SDD if I have to waste precious minutes every morning at 7 adding genie+ every day.
Critically, can all this be done before 7 am though? I’m in the same boat as you.

Definitely do it before 7am. Genie+ can be purchased daily anytime after midnight. Just do it a little before 7am, and you should be fine. This is what we plan to do, since we have APs.
 
I am going next year and will have mixed tickets within our group as well. 6 of us will have military salute tickets with genie+ already included and 2 will have military magic your way tickets. But the two are minors. I have all of them under my group and I’m planning all of our times together. Will I be able to add genie+ to the 2 kids before 7am?
 
I had the same problem Monday morning as well. I think it was a wider IT issue that was resolved before most had woken up. I had a Park Hopper ticket. I couldn't add for the individual day nor could I add for the entire trip. I tried two methods of adding them on two different devices. Customer service wasn't available to help at 5:30 in the morning. Finally around 6:30 a.m. it functioned. This was very stressful and I'll plan on buying for the whole trip ahead of time next time to avoid this possibility. In person guest services didn't seem to care or comprehend the stress they caused.
 
I have an AP, and my parents are thinking of upgrading to APs. The rest of our party (will be 9 at some points) has either 7-day hoppers or 2-day hoppers. So basically I won't be able to purchase for everyone until 7 AM since we have different ticket types? Just trying to understand how to prepare for this.

EDIT: Seems like it's more of an issue with folks having Genie+ already attached to tickets for length of stay, which none of us do? Either way, hope this gets resolved for everyone
 

We just got back from a trip - 3 of us had APs and one of us (a non-family member child) had a 5 day park hopper ticket. Prior to our trip MDE gave me a message that I could only add Genie+ for members of my party with the same ticket type as me, and that others would have to purchase Genie+ themselves through their own MDE account. I chatted with a cast member before our trip about that message because I thought I might want to add Genie+ for certain days of our trip and didn't want to run into any trouble with the child's park hopper ticket. He doesn't have and wouldn't have his own MDE account. I made that clear to the cast member. The cast member on chat assured me that I would actually be able to purchase Genie+ for everyone the day of. That wasn't true. One morning I was toying with getting Genie+ for us all and it would allow me to purchase for those of us with APs, but not the park hopper. I wasn't about to make an MDE for him (he's not my kid) and I didn't feel like I had an effective way to deal with it at 6:30 am, so we just skipped it. We had also had bad luck with Guest Relations and a prior issue trying to get an ILL for my husband (I could purchase it for 3 of us, but he was "ineligible because it was too early for park hopping", which made no sense since his park reservation was identical to ours).

All that is to say that I didn't see anything that led me to believe that one person can buy Genie+ for people with a different ticket type, and for whom they don't control the MDE account.

So I’ve got an AP, my wife and daughter have tickets. Basically at 6:45 AM every morning I’m going to have to buy Genie+ for myself on my phone while my wife purchase it for her and our daughter on hers?

Edit: I’m thinking about just upgrading them to AP’s to avoid this problem (was going to upgrade them anwyay at some point during the trip). However, they have park reservations right now tied to their tickets (not tied to a resort stay). Will they lose those park reservations if I upgrade them to AP’s?
 
Called Disney to see if this was a known issue and there were any fixes. CM said they've never gotten any complaints about this (ok) and GR or GET would be "more than equipped" to help me purchase if there are any issues. Looks like we'll be spending some time there if this isn't resolved.

In the meantime, I'll be spending the next few weeks getting my relatives that I manage (who have never been to WDW) to log into MDE for the first time & connect with my brother as a hopeful workaround.

I'm surprised this isn't a more prevalent issue, tbh? Especially with DVC members with larger parties who frequently have a mix of APs/hoppers.

This is going to really screw me up next year if this is the case. DD and I both had AP so we had no issues, but next year dh will have a hopper instead.

I know. It's screwball. However, park reservations are the same way. But, you aren't usually trying to make park reservations early in the morning before starting your park while being tired and sleep deprived.
 
Thank you so much for your quick reply! Issue is I am trying to add it daily. At midnight it wouldn’t let me for today. Says “you are good to go”. I’ll find out in 7 minutes 😩

I'm also curious to see how this worked out. I have an AP, but my family all have tickets with Genie+ included. I know as an AP that I will need to purchase on the day of for the days I wish to add it, but hoping it is going to work.
 
Following........ taking my niece over new years and she will be the only one with a ticket, everyone else has an AP and she is already on my MDE account. Planning on using a few days of G+ and maybe ILL as well.

She won't have her own account and I would rather not make her one unless its my only choice. Making the purchase each day doesn't bother me but I hope I can do it from my account.
 
Hopefully someone is going to be the Genie-pig before I go in 3 weeks. DH has a 1-day ticket with Genie+ (he has his own MDE), I have an AP. I *think* from reading all the replies, we're ok, because I just need to buy Genie+ for myself, through my MDE. However, if my son comes with me on another trip, I'm going to have a potential issue getting Genie+ him because he'll have regular tickets and I'll have an AP and he doesn't have his own account...

Is that how we're all understanding it right now? And we haven't yet found a solution?
 
I am fighting with this dilemma now. 4 of us have military salute tickets and three date specific park hoppers. I know ILL works fine because I did it last week with a group of 1ap and 2 military tickets. It’s the genie+ that’s the issue. I have the login for one of my group members MDE in case I can’t make all reservations next week. I’ll have my husband do it with me at the same time to try and get overlapping times. This will be a real pain if we have to do it for every LL booking.
