Genie+ Extra Stacking Loophole Changed- WDW Vloggers Wrongly Saying Stacking Is Gone

Just something to watch out for. The extra stacking loophole in Genie+ at Walt Disney World has been stopped. However the WDW Vloggers are wrongly spreading that stacking is gone. This is not correct. Stacking as we used to do with Maxpass and the free paper Fastpass in Disneyland California is not gone. You can still stack Genie+ Lightning Lane passes by getting them every 2 hours and with return times for the afternoon and evening.

If you used to stack Maxpass Fastpasses, in Disneyland California, then you have nothing to worry about, just do what you used to do for Maxpass with Genie+ Lightning Lane passes in Walt Disney World.

Either way, I sincerely hope they right the ship on this one. Were I paying $15/pp for my family of 5 and got to pull a single "good" LL, I'd be pretty upset. Not to mention the frustration of trying all day to pull another for anything at all with no success.

I don't go to Disneyland during major holiday times like Thanksgiving or Christmas. But the percentage of people who used Maxpass was still low compared to the overall park attendance on any given day. It seems that with Genie+ there is a high percentage of people using it, which would in turn lead to a high demand for lightning lane passes.

Also there is a far higher percentage of onsite guests at Walt Disney World, many of whom probably added Genie+ for length of stay because it is the thing to do. At Disneyland, there are only 3 onsite hotels , so a far lower percentage who would have length of stay Maxpass.

That makes sense re: onsite/LoS influencing utilization. It will be interesting to see how they address the issue going forward.

“Length of stay” for Genie+ is not related to onsite/offsite. It is for the length of ticket regardless of where the guest stays.

it sounds like Genie+ is now following the old FP rules. You may book another when you have none in your account or 2 hours after your last selection, whichever occurs first.

This meant that some people were using this loophole as well as the allowed two hour rule to get lightning lane passes, which result in the passes being sold out at far earlier times than they should have been. This loophole was spread by Vloggers and people in Disney communities like Disboards.

Disney have stopped the loophole but the 2 hour rule is still in place and is the way Disney want people to get passes.

No thats not correct. You can still have 2 or more Genie+ lightning passes stacked throughout the day, however you can only get a new pass 2 hours after you have booked a pass, you can't get a new pass every time you tap in. Thats the loophole that has been removed.

Example

11am - get a pass with a return time of 4 pm
1pm - get a pass with a return time of 5pm
3pm - get a pass with a return time of 6pm

You now have 3 passes stacked for use after 3pm.

I was wanting to do something like this for our arrival day - we are reserved at EPCOT and should be in the park around 2:00
I understand EPCOT is not the best use of Genie + but at the same time - having some stacked LLs could make our evening go so much easier - right?

I was also thinking of grabbing a BG for Remy too but we run the risk of getting an earlier time we cant make.

Thoughts on the best strategy for this?

Personally, I would try for a BG at 7:00AM and when you arrive at Epcot, try to use it even if your window has passed. The worst they can say is, 'no' and I've heard often they will still allow you to ride.

Or do I have to wait until 12pm to make the next reservation?

IF Slinky Dog at 10am is your only booked lightning lane ride, then yes, you can book another reservation after tapping into the ride. The 120 minute rule only comes into effect if your booked ride is MORE than 120 minutes away.

You can make one while in line, as long as you've tapped into the second tapstyle. That may not give you much time before boarding, though.

Not every ride is using both taps this week so I’m not sure how that would affect you making another one.

Oh the good old days when I could use 3 reserved fast passes in less than 60 minutes then accumulate another 8-12 throughout the day while smiling at the standby line and wondering why people use it. Pre-pandemic I had not gotten in a standby line of over 20 minutes in years. All the MaxPass lovers are discovering it won’t work at WDW. Please show me a day now where I can use the Lightning Lane 13+ times in a day during a holiday weekend.

I used FP+ at WDW and MP at DLR many, many times. I think one issue now is that when MP was at DLR, you had three options; there was still a free, paper FP option. So you had option 1: buy MP (with some advantages like a 90 minute rebooking time instead of 120 minutes), option 2: paper FP (free but you had to run all over both parks to the machines, and could not pick up cancelled FPs late in the day like you could with MP), or option 3: standby lines (free). Now, at WDW, you have only two options: option 1: buy G+ and/or ILL$ or option 2: standby (free). So now at WDW, if you want to avoid standby, you HAVE to purchase G+ and/or ILL$. This means a much higher % of people will be using G+, or trying to use it, and causing a melt down of the system on busy days. We went during the holidays to DLR and used MP, and while the "big ticket" rides would run out of FPs by mid day or early afternoon, the smaller and mid tier rides basically always had availability until park close. And since WDW refuses to cap the number of G+ they sell on a given day, they purposely allow the benefit of G+ to be eroded the most on busy days.

As to the last comment, I would point out that many more guests are DLR are thought to be AP holders, and they could add MP to their pass for a flat yearly fee of $100. So many, many of those APs had MP and used it heavily. So I am not sure if the number of onsite hotels being different between DLR and WDW would factor into how many guests per day added MP on back at that time.
