General Star Wars Discussion

oh my gosh yes! if you missed an episode of something, you better hope for summer reruns. Miniseries were a huge deal. I remember how excited my mom was for Shogun. And then stuff that they showed every year, like Ten Commandments, Roots, Gone/Wind etc. Being the big old nerd that I am, I used to cut out any and all mentions of Star Wars stuff from the TV Guides.....mostly starting in the 80s, ROTJ time period. I still have my clippings around here somewhere......they're fun to look at. I have the MASH finale pages too. boy that was a big deal in our house, We all loved MASH.
I get such a kick out of these millennial vloggers, who I really do appreciate, enjoying the Star Wars Holiday special.....they have NO idea what it was like to hear about a Star Wars special coming on TV, when there was NOTHING else Star Wars to watch....and getting that.....and then having to wait for ESB

I do think I"ll try and pick up some Black Series. DH saw some in the stores. I collect those. I got Jod for Christmas. We'll see.....Still waiting on my Sranger figure from the Acolyte which I dont' thing will ever be.....

but anyway, back to Skeleton Crew. Can't wait to read/watch more about it tomorrow

The thing about the Star Wars Holiday Special - and it's a little before my time, but I remember the era - is it wasn't the weirdest thing on TV - possibly not even that night! Ahh, the 70's.

Good ending, overall while I enjoyed it, it was not my favorite of the streaming Star Wars, and that was the consensus of our watching group (Me 55, H 57, D 23).

I really wanted to see Jod get the classic lightsaber thru the chest stab, I expect we might see his character again, was slightly curious who the Jedi who trained him... I suspect that would be fodder for another time/show

I hope this show finds an audience with people who want to binge it. It's perfect for that as this was always planned to be a movie.
This is what I’ve been waiting to do so I appreciate everyone here who’s been using spoiler tags for it. Real MVPs!

Why has the casual SW fan soured on SW so much?
Paying too much attention to social media and so-called 'influencers'. Blocked off every well known social media site as well as opinionated 'news' sites directly in router settings, and therefore affecting every device using it, and much better off. Pretty close to the idea of cord cutting.

In any case, I dont offhand recall any truly 'bad' SW. Boring sure. Many examples. But outright bad, no. Back in the 80's you had to have been a dedicated SW fan to buy those $100 VHS tapes priced for rental stores. Or those $300+ SW box sets. In 80's dollars.

Finished it tonight. I thought we'd get a reveal of the old pirate, since they kept it's face a secret in the lair. Was still kinda rooting for Jude Law in the end, those kids were annoying. 😄

So galaxies edge in Disneyland is getting Luke Skywalker in the park. Things must be desperate for Galaxies edge if they are reversing course and promoting Luke.

While they haven't included Luke in Galaxy's Edge, they never stopped promoting him. They have been including characters from other eras for a while now as they are no longer holding a strict timeline.

Plus, do we even know yet which era version of Luke we'll be seeing? Maybe it'll be older Luke and he'll fit right in with Rey.

From the announcement video it looked like Mando era Luke

Also who else is looking forward to Star Wars Celebration soon? I saw Oscar Isaac is signing and doing photo ops there this time (don’t you just hate to see other people living your dream in meeting him?? 😍). Some speculation that they might be announcing him and John as part of the “Rey” film or that they’re possibly doing a 10th anniversary panel for TFA and that’s why he’s going.

Can't wait for Celebration and any/all announcements, and it's right before Andor comes out. Maybe they'll be an announcement for animation, Visions 3 or another Tales series, or anything!!
I SO with WDW would offer more walk around characters, or add a lot more photo ops to Launch Bay. IF theyre' going to keep Launch Bay for a while, just add some more characters! My son and his girlfriend just go back from WDW, her first time in GE, and she loved meeting the Mandalorian, how that was set up, and how Rey, Kylo, Chewie, etc. just walking around. I'd love even more up on a raised platform, you just stand in front of for pictures. That would help lines move along, no autographs, etc. Anyway, Mando-era Luke would be AWESOME in WDW.

I don't want to watch the trailer, but I am super exicited! I plan to re-watch Season 1 soon.
I'll probably cut off reading/watching anything else fairly soon too. I dont' want to read spoilers/speculation, etc. but couldnt' resist this today.

Well this is kind of awesome. Seeing news that this will have 3 episodes a week due to time jumps.

I don't actually like that. I don't want to rush through it. I am actually a big fan of week-to-week shows. Plus, I don't want to have to avoid spoilder until I watch three of them. Normally I watch as soon as I can, but may not watch three of them every time.

Each episode is one of 3 chapters and then we time jump to the next 3 to separate the years leading up to Rogue One. I would say treat it like watching a movie. I would imagine they found the week to week was not something people enjoyed when the episodes were short. Maybe viewership dropped off with the week to week format. I think we're going to see a lot more bundling of episodes with Disney+. Skeleton Crew did that for the first two.

I know a lot of peopel perfer the all-at-once drop and to binge watch it immediately, but for me that just makes it go by too fast. So many people will have it ALL watched at the eararliest possible time one could do that based on the drop time. They will then post spoilers as if it is ridiculous that anybody else didn't do that. People will talk about it for that week, then next week move on to the next new thing. And then it's just...gone. Personally, I prefer spreading it out - savoring it, and letting it "live" for a while. Modern society though isn't up for that.
