Gel nails chipping after only a few days - go back or go somewhere else?

Hi! I got a pedicure and gel nails done last Friday. The pedicure is great but on Saturday I noticed already a chip coming off of the gel nails. Now it is Thursday and more are peeling - like layers of an onion. I read somewhere that is they put it on too thick, this can happen and that is what is happening. This is only the third time I've gotten them done but the first time and at another salon, they only put one coat on and it stayed great.

Should I go back and have them redo the few nails that are peeling or chalk this up to learning that too many layers can cause this and just go to another salon to either fix these nails or have them all redone? I fear the others will start to peel too since this guy did layer upon layer.

Please advise :confused3

I would go to the salon that applied the gel polish too thick, explain what happened, and see if they'll fix them for free. I'd go to a different salon for future appointments.

Go back to the salon. When I used to get mine done one broke while I was pumping gas about 2 days after getting them done. The salon redid it for me at no charge because they should last longer than that.

Go back.

A friend of mine recently began doing nails as a career, after taking a proper course and everything. She did mine and they chipped very quickly. She said she would redo them for free (I offered to pay, as she wasn't charging much anyway) and continue until she got something that worked on me. She's redoing them again tomorrow, but now she knows what actually works for me. These last ones have lasted on my fingernails for nearly 3 weeks before chipping.

I use regular polish and apply Seche Vite very 2-3 days. Keeps my manicure perfect, until I do polish change.

Go back to wherever you had them done. Your gel polish should last about 3 weeks and definitely not be chipping after a few days. Hopefully they can fix it up for you. If you're still not satisfied the second time, go to a new salon.

Hi !

I have no clue about your nails.

I just wanted to say, I'm excited to see somebody on here from my town !

Where did you go ?

I would definitely go back and have them fixed.

I have a home gel nail set and I can easily make mine last for two weeks (on my hands). By that time they're not coming off, my nails just grow enough that you can see the space at the bottom and it bothers me. My current gel polish has been on for three weeks and I have a good 3 mm of new growth but I don't have any chips or peeling at all.

I've found that lighter colors work better than dark ones, but that just might be my set (Red Carpet Nails). I have an LED lamp, not a UV one.

I'd go back to the place that did them and see if they would fix them for free. My nails take a beating and mine last 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. (and I am not easy on my nails at all). Not sure about the thickness thing. I get a base coat, 2-3 layers of color depending on how it covered, and then the top coat.

My manicurist has told me that the humidity in the summer can affect how well the gel cures. I have noticed that the paint doesn't last as long when it is humid. Once we had to redo a couple of nails because the paint was rippled after it came out from the lamp. And it was a brand new bottle of polish.
