Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

Happy last day, Memom! I have been swamped this last week. I barely have had time to take a peek at the report. I am caught up though. I helped my MIL and FIL move last weekend, hosted a cookout for Memorial day, visited my parents in Kentucky. I am now packing to go to Myrtle Beach. We get to go with my Mom, Dad, sister and her family. My brother passed away 2 years ago. We will be taking his little boy too. He is 5. It will be sad going to the place that we went to as children without my brother. I am happy we are going as a family though.
I watched youtube videos of Mickey's Philharmagic and Peter Pan's flight this weekend. It made me tear up. I want to go so bad! I am trying to figure out a way to go July 4th weekend that will fly with Jason. No such luck. We are leaving for Hawaii on July 19th, so I am sure he will not be up for a quick trip anywhere.:sad1:
Love the pics from the meet!! I so wish I could meet everyone too. I have only gotten the opportunity to meet Jill and you.

Oh Memom that story about your student makes me cry. As excited as I am for summer, I know for some of my kids it will not be a good thing- less food, no educational interaction, etc. I worry about one of my little CD boys... he needs to be at school year around and interact with people.

We are down to two early release days here, still a lot to do, especially when you are missing the workday to go to MN for a wedding and fun. Oh well it will get done somehow!

MeMom you got some FABULOUS pics of BUZZ!!! well done!! That is one of my most favorite rides in the MK... And I agree with you about wanting the large sized Nemo characters for your room (from the Disneystore) -- maybe for the back yard!!! I am sure you and all of us here are anxiously waiting to see the Disney yard HGTV show!!! I think it is going to be a hoot!!!!

On the cruise, the Dream that is, they have exactly what you want in the child's splash area... so now you just have to get WigD and Marc to figure out how to get them into her largest Vera bag!!!!

On a more somber note, I am sorry to hear about that child, I agree, everyone needs a little love.

Good wishes to you as you end the school year today!

:banana:Yay for the last day MeMom!!! We get out Friday and Jeremy and I both can hardly wait.

Sending some prayers up for your student. My heart goes out to those children. I have seen a lot of it in our school system volunteering and it is so sad.

Hi folks -

I'd appreciate a prayer for my good friend. Her SIL delivered a baby at 26 weeks this morning - he's only 1 lb 12 oz. The doctors are as optimistic as they can be in this situation, but he's so tiny. He & his parents really need our prayers & good thoughts. If you have a moment today to think about Baby O the family would really appreciate it.

Yay for the last day!! My mom's is on Friday then she goes back(just teachers) on monday!!!
So sorry to hear about your student, I hear the same things about my mom's kids, which is making her consider becoming a foster parent. So we'll see what this summer and next school year bring with that decision. It is one I am whole heartedly supporting!!

So sorry to hear about your student. That is so sad.

Happy last day to you! Kailyn is still having a really hard time believing that she's out of school. We went out last night to Barnes & Noble and to get slush, and she kept saying how weird it was that she didn't have to wake up for school the next day. And she graduates tomorrow! My mom and the rest of the school is going all the way till the end of June b/c of all the snow days.

Hi MeMom,
I have just read through your entire trip report, (the first one I've read of yours) all 130 pages.:goodvibes

You have a very lovely family. Your granddaughters are picture perfect, such adorable little ones.:cutie: How wonderful that you get to spend such magical time with them in the happiest place we all know of!

Thank you for sharing your WDW experiences, soccer games, school trips, and the unfortunate tragedies. I certainly need to be reminded every once in a while of those that are suffering and know that things in my life could be so much worse.:flower3:

Hooray for the last day of school with the kids!!

What a heartbreaking story of the little boy. I pray he and others like him find loving homes.
It does bring tears to my eyes.

 to all my teacher friends who have to see this kind of heartbreak on a yearly basis.
Must be a very sad part of the job.

What a great feeling it will be to finally get to start your summer break! :goodvibes

I didn't see any pics of handbags? Oh...they are probably on FB....:upsidedow

DWGal210 I will say a prayer for tiny babyO.

Enjoy your last student day MeMom! I remember as a child what an exciting day this always was. Lots of memories. I'm sure it's emotional for you as well, seeing "your kids" move on. :)

Hearing about your student makes me tear up. You know we adopted Michael from foster care. He wasn't in a good situation as well and there are so, so many kids out there who aren't given a good start in life. I really hope God puts this little guy where he needs to be to thrive.

I'm sort of bummed out today. I think we may have to cancel our October trip. The money just isn't there. We had to purchase a newer, working vehicle, repair a vehicle, repair our central air and get a new washer/dryer set...all this past weekend and this week. Talk about financial issues! I'm hoping to maybe reschedule for May. We'll see. Still bummed but what do ya do?

Happy last day MeMom!! Love the feeling of the last day when the kids walk out the door and the whole summer is in front of you! We're still trudging along here...

That's so sad about your student. We had several cases like that in the school I taught at before. Poor kids. I do hope they find the right placement for hiim.

We're down to one teacher work day and then some in-service days scattered throughout the summer.
They like to remind us we're still teachers during our breaks. ;)

I think you will get to meet many more DISers in the years ahead, and I am fairly sure you will like them all. DISers are nice people. :goodvibes

I like to youtube rides when the girls are here. It's fun to watch their faces as they get into it.

Hawaii will be awesome!

They talk about year 'round school here off and on, but so far, nothing has come of it.

Have fun at the wedding!

Wigd has already been doing plenty of bag shopping. Maybe she can sneak those figures out, or she could ship them to me.

Some kids are overprotected and hovered over until they can't breathe - not allowed to make mistakes or experience failure, and others are just let go to do whatever as long as they stay out of the way. Seems like something in the middle could be best. :)

Yay for the last day MeMom!!! We get out Friday and Jeremy and I both can hardly wait.

This is a big week! :dance3:

Being around kids with problems helps us appreciate what we have and helps develop compassion for others, I think.

Thoughts and prayers for that family. It is hard to imagine how tiny he must be. I hope the doctors and nurses give him everything he needs to grow stronger every day.

I've done weekend foster care through a church program. The kids went to other homes one weekend a month so that the every day foster parents could have a free weekend. We had some pretty good kids, and we even thought of adopting two brothers, but their dad said he was going to try to raise them after all, so they went home.

So sorry to hear about your student. That is so sad.

I bet she is feeling very grown-up right now, not having to worry about school in the morning. Is she going to go to college or work or what?

So glad you enjoyed the report. That's a bunch of reading! We enjoy sharing our Disney fun with all of you. We hope you will stick with us on the new one coming up!

Tomorrow at this time, I should be feeling awesome!

I think seeing this kind of stuff humbles us.

I told Anita to show the bag on FB, because I could not see it very well on my little phone. I don't know if she put it on there yet.

I am sad for you. Maybe you can put a little aside here and there and shorten the trip? Hanging on until spring would work, too, because you could enjoy the warmth after a cold winter. If I win the miilion dollar lottery between now and October (from my one dollar a week in the pot ;)) I'll see that you get that trip. :thumbsup2

After the castle show, it appears that Kay indulged in a nice cold treat.

We bought a few of the souvenir mugs. $5 with the drink seemed like a good deal for that souvenir.

Dapper Dans - always fun to see them hanging out on Main Street.

Time check.

Could there be a parade coming soon?

I guess we did some shopping before the parade.

Cute Stitch guys dressed up.

Just so you know I'M READING THIS!!!!
I haven't taken d&b pictures. Is that what I'm looking for? The 40th bag I found was a large shopping bag. About $10.00!

Mickey sprinkles!!! I don't know why, but I think that the Mickey sprinkles are the souvenir that brings me the most joy. Maybe it's that I can sort of pretend I'm there? Anyways, I highly recommend them! :thumbsup2

The sprinkles are a little dash of Disney happiness, aren't they? :wizard:

Uh oh!

You didn't read anything about sacks

and bricks

and dishes....

didja? :flower3:

You know what??? I don't even think I know what bag we're talking about now, after all this time! I have to go back and look at pictures. I couldn't see the one you sent me on the phone too well. I guess take a picture of any and all kind of 40th anniversary bags and purses you see and the prices, and whoever wanted to know about it can go from there. If you don't want to fool with it, I'll do it in a few weeks, too.

Hope you guys have had a good day. I know you actually rode a ride! :thumbsup2

Brook is gone now, right? I'm glad you guys got to hook up. Talk to you soon.

I know how you feel about the boy. I have some students that are bad off as well. It's nice to know that as teachers, we can impact their lives for the better.
I LOVE those mugs and a what a great price. I must get the one that you got. Do they have different ones for different parks?
I made ADRs the other day for Thanksgiving. The trip seems so close know yet so far away.:goodvibes

Hi MeMom! I'm so so so close to being done with school. I can check almost everything off that loooong list I had a couple days ago! I only have 3 exams to take next week. My forensics exam was a take home test which I handed in today. I'm exempt from my sociology exam because I have an A and it's an elective. I can't believe I only have 2 full days of school left! Next week I only have to go in for exams and graduation rehearsal. Then I have the friendship service on Saturday and graduation on Sunday, followed by my graduation party/cookout. Not a big party, just family. Exactly how I want it :) And Jeremy, Leslie, and Caleb will be there! They move into their apartment in my town on Tuesday! And Josh and Kazin will be there. I'm excited to see both of my little guys! I have't seen Caleb since January  I can't wait to see them together! I looove watching them interact and I love playing with both of them. Now I can do that regularly :goodvibes

Happy last day of school!!!:dance3:

Sorry to hear about your student. Sounds like the mother was really caught off guard and well, that may before the better in the long run. I sincerely hope there is a family out there willing and able to give this boy what he does need and the patience to get through the adjustment period. :goodvibes

I bet she is feeling very grown-up right now, not having to worry about school in the morning. Is she going to go to college or work or what?

Working and going to school. She's going to the same school as me and taking core classes for now, till she figures out what she really wants to do. Tomorrow is going to be emotional, but exciting :goodvibes

Wow MeMom - that is so sad about your student. I work in the courts and we see the parents that lose their kids. It's all around sad and sometimes I wish I could take them all home with me instead. It's a good thing that the kids at least have a teacher who cares. And foster parents - they are angels on earth!:littleangel:
Congrats on finishing out the school year!!!
We still have a week to go! We're done on June 9.

I will say a prayer for baby O and family!! That is so tiny!!

Kelli - I'm sorry to hear you may have to cancel. I hope things work out that you can still take your trip - even delayed is better than nothing. Finances are the thing that makes life so difficult - how dare things need to be replaced when we'd rather spend the money on Disney?? BTW - that's you - the angel for your son!! You are a special mom!

Gotta go check FB for all those at wdw now before I go to bed!
