My sister had something similar when we were growing up. She missed a lot of school, and they said it was psychosomatic (or all in her head). They finally labeled her truant. About 3 years later, the problems still persisted and it ended up being a fungus in her sinus cavity . MRIs, CT Scans, tissue cultures, you name it....nobody found it! I hope your son's issue is discovered soon so he can fully recover.

Hope everything turns around for you quickly and your son is able to receive a diagnosis. I swear it's the not knowing that is the worst. Once you know, at least you can figure out a plan of attack.

I have no life and no pinecone turkeys. I do have several paper cornucopias, though. I also have a strong-willed 2 yr old who thinks she knows how to use scissors by herself. The fact that we both still have fingers and hair on our heads is a miracle.

DD4 sucks her thumb and twirls her hair, always has. She twirl sit into knots that you have to cut out. One night when she was around 21 months she slept in our bed, on my pillow. She twirled my hair in her sleep. She twirled a knot that would make a boy scout proud. I had to cut it out, leaving an inch long section of hair framing my face. It sure was purdy.

Oh, and we do have our own BBB. They fixed my hair just the other night. They put enough clips in my hair that I gained at least a pound. I also have lots of "special" jewelry to wear. I try to resist the clothes they want me to wear, though.

I'm a hair twirler and I'm over 50. You'd think that after chemo baldness, I'd quit but my hair is almost long enough again to start twirling it. I do the spot right behind my left ear. It drove my father crazy when I was a kid but there was no stopping me.

That may be too much information.

And it certainly proves I have no life.

She now pulls out the knots, breaks them. We find knotted hair everywhere. My mil took her to get her hair cut short (I couldn't do it). It was layered all over so she couldn't find a piece long enough to twirl. Her hair is growing out again. I found a lock in the suburban over the weekend. It does drive her daddy crazy, too.

Gee Kerrie, I'm always complaining about the hair left behind by my yellow Lab, I never thought it was a problem others deal with.

Pakey, after dealing with chemo, you're more than entitled to twirl your hair whenever you darn well feel like it!

As for dress up and BBB, I might have told this story already. Who can keep track of what I tell you all. DD painted her Poppy's big toe toe nail once. Only he forgot and went to the podiatrist a few days later. The doctor and nurse got a big kick out of his painted toe. She's also done all of our hair so that our heads were covered in every possible butterfly clip, barrette, etc. that she had. Kerrie, a word of advice -- I really miss those times. Hold on to them for as long as you can.

Kerrie, I really hate to add this but pulling out the knotted hair became part of the fun too. My dad used to tell me I looked like a monkey playing with my hair like that.

I guess I should have painted his toenails when he wasn't looking.

This poor guy really earned his pay this day. He was SOOO good with her and really took it upon himself to make sure she had a good time, inspite of herself.

I went to the last official meeting of the high school's fine arts parents group last night (it's being dissolved because of changes to financial policy for student booster groups). Here's the no-life part -- I had a raging headache, but had a major need to get out and see other adults! I'm glad I went, for more reasons than social, but I felt like begging friends there to go out for a coke afterwards! I'm used to being out and about -- I'm a substitute teacher and haven't been able to teach almost at all this school year.

Yes, bahookies are just fine in my book, but I promise to obey the Mickey bahookie ban. But baby bahookies -- cute cute cute! I have a brand new nephew but won't be able to see him (they live in Boise and I don't), and I'm dying to hold him.

Hair twirlers -- I've heard that that can be an early symptom of OCD!

I sure hope the home tutor calls today so we can get this started.
