Gay Days at WDW

Although I have never been there during Gay days, I have a mom who is gay. She and her life partner have held hands and kissed each other hello and goodbye in front of both my sons. They just see my mom as Grammy and her life partner as Nana. They don't think anything or know anything is different. They just see a loving couple. Both my mom and Fran (My mom's partner) love my boys more than anything and think they are the kings! We are all going to WDW this Dec.

As I agree with others, I wouldn't want my DS to be exposed to any lude or over the top behavior from anyone. I would imagine that WDW would be on top of that. BTW I went to school with many over-the-top people (I went to an art school not a cliche just more likely to be open minded) and most know when its fine and when it's inappropriate. I think during gay days you will see mostly families unless you plan on heading out to parties at night.

Unless it is a moral issue, I wouldn't worry. Please, I'm going during POP Warner and my friend who went last year said the moms of some of the cheerleaders were more ridiculous than anything she's ever seen. Some are desperately trying relive their "glory days" vicariously through their daughters. One particular woman was so bad, she had the nerve to show up to the pool in a thong! A CM asked her to cover it up and she made a huge fuss and said that she was about to go topless. Again a few bad apples, I'm sure most are completely fine.

I have to say that Gay Days wins out, hands down over the cheerleaders and dancers...

We happened to go on a "gay day" not realizing it was going on and it was fine. There were crowds of people wearing red, and my husband happened to wear red, so he was kind of bummed to say the least, but it was nothing different from any other trip there.

That article was written by one gay man and is not representative of the entire gay population. In fact, I respectfully yet vehemently, feel absolutely strongly the opposite of Pete's observations. My partner and I, and many many MANY friends, all of whom are heterosexual, never noticed a thing. Both Joe and I have been asked if we'd ever been during that time and I always said "No," when much to my surprise, we had indeed been to the parks at that time. I never even noticed or realized. And that is also from a gay man's perspective.

I've been there the last two years during Gay days and have not seen any of thing things that Pete saw either. I didn't find it particulary crowded either.

Unless she is extremely sheltered, your 13 year old knows there are homosexuals in this world. And her classmates probably make out more at the football games than she will see at WDW.

A 3 year old sees nothing wrong in people being loving, and could really care less what other's are doing...they are self-centered little beings.

So true.

We've been there during Gay Days one time and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I get revved up when a person posts that they saw something nasty or over the top and blame it on Gay Days. We go other times of the year and have seen more than our share of "over the top" stuff that had nothing to do with gays or lesbians. I'd rather my kids see two members of the same sex holding hands(which doesn't bother them) than them see a 60 yo man wearing a Speedo with his shirt tucked in. In some cases, as Ron White says, it looks like there is a squirrel in there! :confused3

Like I said, we had no problems when we were there. I think, only because of crowds, I would find out which day they plan on doing MK and plan something else that day. WDW parks aren't the places that are a part of Gay Days. Guests also visit US/IoA and Seaworld and other areas of Orlando.

I won't go back that time of year again, but it certainly isn't because of Gay Days.
It's just too dang HOT!

We were there during "gay days" as well- and even wore our "Incredibles" shirts which are red on one of the days... we got lots of thumbs ups, and smiles for dressing in solidarity! (Most of the gay days participants wore red) Seriously, everybody was very respecful, kind and appropriate. My kids didn't notice- although we pointed out that all families are different to my oldest- and it was a great teachable moment
Have fun!
