Gauchos???

ah yes, they are very popular with girls on my college campus. i personally hate them, becasue this is what 90% of the girls i see wearing them have on.
1. a hooded sweatshirt
2. gauchos
3. flipflops
4. messy ponytail with headband
its the most horrid outfit ever, ok i take that back i hate UGGS more!

I'm glad some of you like gauchos (so that the gauchos of this world don't have to be sad :p ). I'm definitely not anti-retro, but gauchos to me are right up there with those huge-rimmed colored-plastic '70s and '80s eyeglasses - never, never, never on me again.

By the way, I LOVE DAVID BOWIE!!

I remember - we've talked about that before :goodvibes. I even used to have a tag fairy tag that said something about me and him, but I've forgotten exactly what it said. What happened to your flashy signature picture of him from all the different eras? I've missed it the last few times I've seen your posts ::yes::.

I lived in Gauchos in HS, and have always loved the style. They really are a classic "riding skirt". Barbara Cartright used to wear them (was it Bonanza?)I think it is a classic feminine/sexy/comfortable look!
Of course i hate the ones in the picture because they are not long enough, and the rise is too low.........

I think you might be thinking of Barbara Stanwyck as Victoria Barkley in "The Big Valley".

agnes!

The first time I ever heard of them was last year. I have 2 pairs and I look quite cute with my high heel boots ;)

Ok, now I feel stupid.... In real life I have a hard time remembering names, looks like that goes for the internet too!

Now, I remember.

My flashy David Bowie thing fell by the way side beacuse I was told I had to limit my sig to 3 pics. I have my DD5, Meeko glitter name and countdown. David Bowie had to go.

I'm a fan! They are pretty flattering if you have a nice butt, but not perfectly shaped thighs.

I must say that that picture of your daughter looking out of the monorail is so cute princess:. I figured it had to do with limiting your signature, and as much as I like him I'm glad you chose your daughter over David Bowie :teeth:. It brings back nice memories and always makes me wish I was on the Monorail ::yes::.

I had a pair of denim gauchos in 7th grade--I wore them with my rainbow-striped toe socks and a pair of Mork from Ork suspenders. I was stunning, I tell you! Just stunning!!! :thumbsup2

I admit I wore those way back when, but that was in my slimmer days. Don't think I will be repeating the good ole days. :rotfl2:

"Just say no" to the gauchos!! This was one fashion trend that I thought would never make a comeback. I admit I had a denim pair with a braided leather belt back in the mid 70's. But I blame my Mom for that, since she was making my clothing decisions back then. :hippie:

Slightly off topic, but speaking of fasions coming back in....at mass this morning I almost hit the floor because I saw a young girl wearing the two polo shirts with one collar up and one down ala the 80's. I hate the sytles of the 70's and have been waiting patiently for it to pass. (including gauchos) I can live with some of the 80's things as long as it is the more tailored type of styles.

My 16 year old has 2 pairs of them, she loves them...me I'm too old for that stlye and my body is too fluffy to look good in them. :teeth:

Ahh, gauchos! Making women look short and fat since 1976!

I like the gauchos ! my DD has 2 pairs and I think she looks adorable in them

My DD was wearing them last September. she says no one wears them
anymore around here
Which is why you should buy these fads at Target, Charlotte Russe etc. instead of the expensive stores.

TG others (OP) feel the same as me. I am never really into fashion but they are ULGY!!!!

:sad2: gauchos -- can knickers be far behind - or those cool pants that buttoned at the bottom???

I can't wait to "peg" my pants again :lmao:

A lot of the middle school girls have been wearing them to band concerts and church and I like them a LOT better then the so short my butt hangs out of the bottom of my skirt they had been wearing. Most of the girls have been wearing them with a layered top and they look cute, but those 10-14 year old bodies, most of them anyway, can handle the style. I personally won't wear them but they would look cute on DD.

:lmao: They defenitely weren't designed for most of our "maturing" bodies but the kids look terrific in them.
