Gatlinburg

My wife and I have been going to Gatlinburg every fall for the last 20 years. Always a beautiful place to enjoy the fall colors.

Weekend traffic will always be rough, especially if there is a home game for the Volunteers in Knoxville. Weekdays are usually ok.

Always go to the Pancake Pantry - you will not regret it.

Don't waste your points - plenty of reasonable Inns and Lodges - not to mention cabin rentals.

Spring is much less crowded than fall due to the fall color changes.

We're going to Gatlinburg March 7-12 and staying at Tree Tops -- swapped in via another timeshare we own. So, what's the weather most likely to be like? We're driving from north Texas and hope not to be iced in!

Pancake Pantry, Pancake Pantry -- trying to memorize that name since our kids love pancakes!

Early March will vary from near 70 to the possibility of snow (we've had both over the years).

Tree Tops sits at the exit for the Motor Nature Trail- an auto accessible roadway thru a portion of the National Park. There are several nice hiking trails in that area, water falls, plus some easy to reach homestead farm buildings and other points of interest. You can get directions to the entrance at the resort.

Cades Cove is a short distance away- near dusk you may see herds of deer feeding in the meadow areas. Drive to Clingman's Dome- the highest point in the Smoky Mtns. It has a paved trail to an observation tower. On clear days you can several states from this vantage point. (It is likely to be as much as 25-30 cooler at the top of Clingman's Dome!)

There is a ski center located in Gatlinburg, accessible by gondola tram.

Enjoy!
