DH just asked me what to do with DD's stroller? I mentioned we could gate check it. He questions this. Did I make this up?

That's right! You can use it up until it's time to board the plane. You let them know and they'll give you a tag for it. You wheel it to the plane door and then leave it at the entrance and they'll store it under the plane.

It will be there waiting for you when you exit...or it will soon be there when you get off the plane.

Really easy and convenient.

Yep, I gate check all the time. The only time I had a problem is when I had a tight connection and needed my stroller in between. It was very slow in arriving and I had to totally rush to my next flight. That said, I'd still highly recommend it. Just be aware if you have a very tight connection.

Just an FYI. You can check a stroller at the ticket counter, and still have the agent put a "claim at gate" tag on it for your FINAL destination. I'm not sure what your situation is, and whether or not you need that stroller in between flights (or to get to the gate itself), but it is an option if you know you will be having a tight connection.

Beca

That's right Beca. Wouldn't work for me as I travel alone with two children. My DD is 5 so I just have to keep an eye on her but my DS is 2 now, younger when we travelled last. Add the diaper bag and the carseat and the stroller was a must have!!! Gate checking is great...I don't think I could travel without it! :sunny:

Yep, just wheelin' it (and baby) all the way to the plane, and they check it as you board. It's there waiting for you when you get off! One piece of advice, if its a small stroller and you have a bag for it to go in, it may get a little less "beat up" while its getting moved around. :flower:

Thanks for the advice everyone. We are taking a non-stop flight (purposely driving to a farther airport for that). Glad at least that part will be easy.
