Gate check a booster seat?

I will be using a low back booster seat for the trip to the airport and we plan on renting a car in WDW. I know that you can't use a booster seat on the plane, so can I gate check the seat? I will be checking a stroller too, is there a limit of gate check items?

Thanks.

We gate-checked 2 booster seats. We also had a stroller, so we hooked the armrests of the booster seats on the stroller handles to get them through the airport. The stroller belonged to a different ticketed kid than the booster seats, though.

I have no idea if there's a limit to gate-checked items; I would assume that would be addressed in the airline's luggage policy?

I don't think you'll have a problem. I'm flying Allegiant Air which charges per bag and even they don't count car seats. I'm assuming your child has his own seat, so if they did have a max for gate check, wouldn't that count as one for each? In any case, if you're still worried, either call the airline or obsess over teh luggage policy online. And keep that ticket for the gate check stuff-once my stroller never reappeared at my destination!

Why not check it with your regular checked bags? Why are you going to carry it all the way to the gate?

You should be able to gate check the booster. I used to be a gate agent with a major airline and we had lots of people gate check car seats and boosters. It's probably a better idea to check it at the gate and make sure it's on the plane with you then risk it being lost or delayed at your arrival. I also worked in baggage claim and we also had many lost/delayed carseats/bosters that were checked (not gate checked).

We just flew and my ds (age 7) carried it on-board as one of his 2 carry-ons and we stored it in the overhead compartment. It was the small kind, just a seat and arms, no backrest. I also had a stroller and infant car seat which were gate checked....I brought a large leaf bag and wrapped the car seat so it didn't get all dirty, worked great!

Someone explain gate checking to me (newbie flyer). I will be on NWA. Do gate checked items count towards your regular checked luggage allowance, or towards you carry on allowance, or neither?

Gate checked items do not count in your carry-on or checked items. Typically you can gate check strollers, car seats, and wheelchairs. They will put a tag on it for you at the gate and you will leave itat the bottom of the jetbridge (right before you enter the plae) and they will have it for you as soon as you exit the plane at your destination. :thumbsup2
