I am thinking of taking my mom to Disneyland for the holidays and might be driving on Thanksgiving day or Christmas day. I live in Sacramento and my mom lives in Carson City Nevada so we would be driving either I-5 or Hwy 395 depending on the weather. Has anyone driven on those two holidays on 1-5 or 395 and if so were gas stations and restaurants open? Thanks.

Don't know about restaurants but certainly gas stations are open. Most fast food places are open on holidays, but some might have different hours.

All restaurants and gas stations are open daily on I-5, I assume it would be the same on 395 can't say because I've never done it those days.

I haven't driven to DL on one of those holidays, but I did drive 8 hours across Texas last Thanksgiving. All the gas stations seemed to be open, but we had to try a few fast food places before we found an open one (Whataburger).

I guess I'm saying, I wouldn't worry about it.

Although not your route, we are ALWAYS traveling on Thanksgiving evening and into the night and have never had any problem finding open gas stations and convenience stores. Never too much of a problem with fast food either, but, for better or worse (I'll skip that debate ;) ) we've noticed a lot more restaurants, including more table service places, open on Thanksgiving evening the last couple of years. You shouldn't have a problem then. Christmas is a little more hit and miss in our experience, although more and more places seem to be closed until mid afternoon on Christmas and then opening up that evening, so you'd probably be fine then, too! Have fun!!
