Gas Prices Dropping TOO Fast

For what it's worth, diesel fuel prices haven't been dropping nearly as fast as gasoline has.
Problem is, we are paying on a bit over $4/gallon, some $5/gallon with the increase of groceries which has increased from prices increasing back in 2009 because of $4/gallon. Grocery prices haven't gone down from that increase of the last skyrocketing gas price.

I ordered cute Christmas labels & they STILL had a gas fee surcharge, even though the prices are dropping ... thusly, methinks this all be nonsense of the highest order.

FWIW, it's worth a lot to me. I need to top of my RV with diesel. About 50 gal so I'm hoping it goes down. We've been lucky thus year with no hurricanes to cut power. The RV has a 150 gal tank. That will run the on board gen for over a week.

Certainly no prices near those figures where I live so lucky people who live in oil producing states like OK! Today’s gas price per barrel is $85 and in 2020 it was $41 so I’m feeling nostalgic. Diesel fuel is over $5 in our state, so food prices aren’t going to come down when trucking firms have to pay those costs to ship everything.

$3.44 today near me. $3.29 when I pay via the app until October 30. It’s normally a 5 cent discount.

I think you need a group hug, D. :grouphug:

Now that gas is down at a minimum more than a $1 per gallon over what it was for many months, I'm still waiting here tapping my foot for the food prices to go down. I mean, how many times did I see a sign in my grocery store that they had to raise XX Brand's milk price by XX amount because of "fuel costs." And that did it quickly. Now, not so much. This is the kind of thing that actually enrages me. It makes sense that prices go up due to "fuel costs" but anyone notice that the NEVER COME BACK DOWN?
Keep tapping. Can't wait to see what the 24% pay hike railroad workers may be getting will do to grocery prices on items that are shipped by rail.

That's nothing. We were returning from DD's soccer game the other night, about 30 minutes from home and DW said she needed to go to the bathroom. So I pull into a Speedway, I have ~1/4 tank, and decide to fill up. $3.49/gallon ($3.46 with my speedway card). Continue home and the truck stop by our house was $3.19. I wasted $3!

r.e. bold We have a 5% OFF Gas CC good at all stations so we do not get the Gas Station's Credit Card.

Gas has gone up again in Sacramento. I paid $4.89 last week, this week it's $5.19 I'm still not impressed that it went down to $4.89 when I was paying $3.09 2 years ago.

I wish we were seeing it under $3 like some of you....on the northside of Indianapolis most places are still in the $3.80's -- except for places like Sams/Costco that are about 20 cents less.

Nah, I get lots of hugs from friends and family! I just would like gas and food prices that aren’t double from two years ago. I’d like to be able to look at my 401k and not cry how much it’s dropping week after week lately. Not everyone on these boards are wealthy or have government pensions, so some people are affected by this highest inflation in 40 years.
