Gas in Atlanta

I have been reading reports on the gas shortage on CNN and in our local paper. What amazes me are all of the people who can't get gas are blaming other people for buying too much gas. Why do they think that they are more deserving? There is just not enough out there and everyone can justify their need to purchase.

I am bumping this because of the severity of the shortage. Yesterday I saw a total of 3 gas stations open out of 20-30 that I passed One had a line that I counted 75 cars in before I quit counting. The other had HWY 92 backed up for a couple of miles in the right lane.

The QT at Mcginnis Ferry and Peachtree Industrial had people lined up this morning at 6am!
I pass by this station every sunday morning and only see 2 or 3 people here I was shocked to see what was going on!!!!
This problem is getting a little weird now.......I have seen some people following the tank trucks to see which station they are going too. I am glad I don't need to leave my house M-F and my husband's car (1986 mazda 626) gets 36 miles per gallon!!! He can go two weeks on a tank of gas....gotta love that :-)
The 03' nissan and 06' pilot stay in the driveway most of the time now.

DH has been having good luck at a QT on 41 ( just north of the Big Chicken). He filled his car up early this week and the mini van early this am. We are set for a while now, but we are not making any extraneous trips anywhere. We're pretty lucky that DH works from home and I work very close to home. I've heard it will be around Columbus Day before things are back to normal. Good luck everyone.

Lanshark- I guess you live near me. Intersection of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford. I passed by 6 gas stations before I found one that had gas and
I paid $4.19 a gallon. Not only did I pay that but, I sat in line for 10 minutes for the pleasure to do it. :)

Yep. The BP at the intersection you mentioned had gas yesterday afternoon and the line was backed up to close to the CVS on Shallowford. That was the line I counted 75 cars before I stopped

I got lucky a few days ago and caught a station that was just opening up and had about 4 people in line. At that point I have no idea what I paid.

I got lucky and at 8:30 yesterday Costco on Barrett had gas and no wait!!! Before this "crisis" Costoc got deliveries on Sunday afternoons--so not sure if they got one today or not.

I saw more stations with gas this morning than I did yesterday but somewhat long lines. If we have really hard problems I have told my son and DIL to go north to Cartersville (about a ten minute drive)--it would probably use less gas than sitting for an hour at a station.

I thought I was being smart and going to get gas at 1:30 in the morning. I was awake anyway so I thought why not. Well guess what? I waited for an hour to get gas. The good news is i only paid $3.99 a gallon and the BP by me that has the gas and about 70 cars waiting for it is $4.40.

Actually, I have a friend whose partner works in Cartersville and he has been able to get gas there. Go for it. DH got to fill up and we're laying low. They lifted the restrictions on the boutique blend, so why aren't things better already? Columbus Day is scary. I can't keep skipping rehearsal.

The people in Cartersville are going to LOOOOVVVVEEE us for spreading this word :rotfl2:

What are you in rehearsal for?

Got lucky. Only need a half tank gas to Atlanta to the Georgia Dome. It's really affect Atlanta traffic. That's slowest I seen Atlanta traffic ever.

I sing with a choir at Emory University, which is a long way off for someone who can't drive. The guy I carpool with has gone into conserve mode, so I missed last week. I'm the Soprano section leader, so I can't make this a habit.

Yeah..the McDonough and Conyers area are rough on finding gas....
but my ex lives around Jackson Lake and he hasn't had any problems...
It's those little tiny towns like Cartersville and such that seem to have it.

Poor little towns about to get invaded... lol

LOL..I helped open the Kohls in Cartersville! It's a nice 'little' town :)
