Garment Steamers - Recommendations???

Hello all,

I'd really like to purchase a garment steamer before the new school year starts. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!!

I've got a Rowenta and it works well--but the results aren't as great as I thought they would be.

Mine was pretty cheap though, something like $60 on sale at a department store.

I'd recommend reading up on the reviews on Amazon--even if you don't buy it from there, there are some good tips in the reviews.

I have the Rowenta "hand" steamer, shaped kinda like a hair dryer. It takes about 10 minutes to get really hot and steamy, so I have to plug it in and wait. Can be very frustrating.

It's been on sale at Joann's a lot recently for just about $30. That's about all it's worth, but then I really don't need one of those steamers that they use in the store that looks like a vacuum cleaner.

We have a pink "Jiffy" brand steamer (J-2000) that we love! My fiance and I use it every week to iron our business clothes, and we store it upright in our bathroom. It works on all types of fabrics, including my delicate satin and silk tops, and it saves us both a lot of money on dry cleaning. It does take time to properly steam each piece, but it does not flatten the fibers in our clothes like ironing did, so our clothes look newer longer.

We paid about $125 for it a year ago, and we would buy it again in a heartbeat.
