After trying repeatedly to get PS for Chef Mickey for our upcoming stay - 7/28 thru 8/3, with no luck, I now have PS for Garden Grille Character Dining.

The CM who made our PS kept getting everything confused, first said it's a buffet(as does Disney's web-site) then said it is family style with a children's menu. She mentioned that Catfish or something was part of it. Well no one in my family will be eating that. So please tell me what's the scoop? What are we in for?

On a better note(I hope!), we do have PS for the Ice Cream Social in Epcot.

I already replied to your ice cream social thread. We enjoyed the ice cream social so much that we went back for lunch later in the week! I believe the lunch menu and dinner menu are the same except that you get a salad with the dinner.

The meal is served in skillets at your table. Our kids are 15 and 13 so we had to pay adult price for them. However they both prefer kids' food. The server was happy to bring them a skillet with mac & cheese, chicken fingers and fries. The skillet for hubby and I had enough food for the two of us plus plenty for the kids to try if they wanted it.

The adult skillet had breaded catfish (tried a bite - not my thing), chicken (good) and flank steak (excellent!). It also had steamed veggies (broccoli, squash, etc.), those little ears of corn on the cob, and stuffing. They brought a separate bowl with mashed potatoes with gravy on top and a cutting board with a loaf of bread and honey butter (yum!). Drinks were included and refills were prompt.

The server asked if we wanted seconds of anything, since it is all you can eat. The kids got seconds on their mac & cheese & chicken fingers but hubby and I were too full already and saving some room for dessert.

Dessert for the kids was "worms & dirt", which is chocolate pudding, oreo cookie crumbs and gummi worms. The adult dessert was a light yellow cake with peaches - delish and not too heavy.

The server did say that certain things change with the seasons. For example, during the spring the chicken was seasoned a bit different and then in July they went to more of a barbecued flavor for summer. The dessert in June came with strawberries instead of peaches.

The character interaction was fun also!

I would just like to add that the character interaction at this restaurant is great. We always are visited at least twice by Farmer Mickey, Chip, Dale and Pluto. They sit and take some time to "hang out". My dd loves that. We've been to this meal countless times over the past few years.

The food has always been good and the service most of the time has been good. We've been here for both lunch and dinner. They do serve the salad at lunch and dinner. It is much more relaxing than a buffet type of character meal.

One thing we do prefer that I thought I'd mention is that we always request seating on the lower level (you can mention this to the hostess when you check in). It is a circular restaurant and it revolves very slowly, there is seating on the upper level which is the inside of the circle and the lower level is the outside of the circle if you can picture it that way. You also get views of the Land ride from the lower level (and it has more of an "open" feeling).

IMHO I think the food here is better than CM's however the desserts can be debatable on that:p

In the winter we had a white chocolate bread pudding for dessert that was really good.

We were glad we ate there once but probably won't return next trip. So many other places yet to eat at.

The characters were fun and we enjoyed the revolving views!

We really like this place, and you can ask for refills of whatever you want. My Dh and I always ask for more steak. He likes the catfish and usually gets more. We have had a couple different desserts: strawberry shortcake, and lemon tart with sliced strawberries.

Great place!!

We love this place and are going again. The food is great and some of it comes from The Land (the veggies in the salad and in the dinner) and as said, the character interaction is wonderful! Have a great time :p
