Is this served family style like Ohana? I notice they also have a childrens menu. Does this mean that kids cannot eat from the adult choices? Thanks

Yes, it is similar to O'hana in that they bring out food for the entire table ie family style. They do bring a child's meal if you have a child and the child prefers that food, but nothing precludes the child from eating the other food.

Yes it is! :thumbsup2

The kids are welcome to eat from all food offered. We (2 adults and 1 teen) did not like any of the food they served us initially :scared: and we actually ate from the children's menu (we saw the table in front of us - upper level seating - request it for their entire table, we ask our server, and they gladly served it to us as well)... it was chicken strips, mac & cheese, and french fries. Needless to say, that was, and will be, our only visit to the GG! :upsidedow

Maybe we ought to skip it then. What wasn't good about it? It is the kinds of food my family likes but if it doesn't taste good that won't work. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh... don't do that based on our account! Everyone is different and you all may LOVE it! :lovestruc We did not like (nor would we return to) GG or LTT, and they both have a massive amount of fans!

On the positive side the characters were cute! :goodvibes Ask for a booth on the bottom level when you go... you cannot see the decor while rotating very well from the upper level.

To answer your question, we did not like anything at all (ecspecially the meat). We did not like the steak (flank I think) at all, nor did we like the fish. I thought the turkey was OK, but DH and DH did not care for it either. The veggies seemed undercooked. The "kids selection" of strips, macaroni & cheese, and french fries was not what we were expecting to eat that night... but it did at least fill us up. The funny thing is DH is not picky at all... he eats what is put in front of him (the easiest husband in the world to please:rotfl: ) yet he did not like the food whatsoever (he did eat the "kids dishes" when brought out). :goodvibes

Whatever you decide... have a safe and magical trip! :wizard:

This was one of the few character meals we did that I actually liked the food. The only thing that I didn't care for was the green beans since they were crunchy, dh however liked them.

We were there last week. The character intervention is great. They made several rotations around the restaurant. The food was good. We didn't care for the flank steak either, but loved the roasted chicken and fried catfish. We are use to "cooked" green beans, so the crunchy green beans were not our favorite. The potato casserole was wonderful. The dessert was good, but hard to eat, kind of a tough crust. It was a puff pastry with strawberries and cream inside. We try to go there every time and look forward to visiting again.

Don't base your decision on one person's opinion. We had lunch there last April & the food was very good. The chicken, flank steak, potatoes & something else I forget, were all very tasty & hot. GG has lots of fans here on the Dis, it's why I tried it in the first place. :thumbsup2

We were a party of 7, 4 adults & 3 kids & the server asked if we wanted him to bring the "kid's menu" items out w/ lunch or wait to see if the kids would eat the regular menu items. Well my son and his 2 cousins are all picky kids so for us it was best to bring the kids stuff out from the get-go. :)

We were there in May 2008. Our group of 4 (DH & I, both 52, DD, 19 yrs. & DD's BFF 18 yrs) all loved the food there. Cornbread was fabulous (First we "fought" over it, then we asked for more. There were also biscuits, those were just o.k.), flank steak was wonderful (we asked for more), chicken was rotisserie, about like good deli rotis. chicken, the guys loved the fried catfish (gals, not so much!) gr. beans were o.k. (these are cooked from fresh, so not soft like canned beans) the potatoes were outstanding (we asked for more) The dessert was extremely good, but we were so stuffed we barely ate 1/2 of it. (ours was not crunchy/hard so maybe an error was made on the one mentioned by PP.)

Character interaction was great. Service was great. Meal was great...so really depends on your own taste preferences. some people don't like this kind of food, we did. Would classify it as good ol'fashioned down-home cooking.

Another question. i already have O'hana for dinner and Liberty Tree Tavern for Thanksgiving, is this all too much of the same?:confused3
