Gail's Journal (comments welcome)

Your doing great I am so proud of you... a completely cheat free weekend. That is something you should sky write in the sky. Woot!!

Kristin

Thanks everyone for your concerns about my knee. I did do the walk away tape yesterday for 2 miles...and it really wasn't that bad. Amazingly...it didn't bother me at all after I exercised. Weird. I do have to tell you that I have been getting on that scale each morning...and I'm excited to say that I am back to losing some...it's keeping my spirits much higher and able to stay focused on my eating. The 1000 minute challenge is helping on the exercise end.

I went up to my daughter's school yesterday to do some work...(school doesn't start until Aug. 30..it's getting close) One of my friends who hasn't seen me since school got out and was a real supporter of my first crusade (when I started at 280) as soon as I walked in the room she says..."girl, you're losing weight again"
That felt really good. Of course they had dunkin doughnuts for us...and I love doughnuts....but I didn't have any!!

A friend showed me these snacks that are prepackaged for 100 calories each...saw them in the grocery store and bought a few boxes. They're perfect!! I got some wheat thins, cheese nips and oreo crisps (Rae Ann had mentioned these to me before). But it really is nice to have them for my daughter and myself when I want a chip, I can grab one of these bags and only be getting 100 calories! They're made by Nabisco and you get 6 bags in a box. I got them for like 2.50 a box. I know you get more when you buy the regular box...but I am a convenience nut!! I like things that are easy and pre-done for me. I know I'm just rambling this morning! Sorry!

Have a good day all!!!

Hurray for Gail!!! Way to go resisting those doughnuts and buying some low-cal snacks. :)

I'm so glad you're losing again. I know how discouraging that is. I hope it keeps on going down and that you have a wonderful weigh in this week. :)

I can make you guys (anyone who wants to use it) a cheat free weekend clippie if you'd like. I'll work on it today and post it later. Being able to use the clippies really is good motivation, you almost feel like you've gotten an award for your efforts. ::yes::

Oooh Michelle...that would be great::yes:: ! I saw in another journal that someone made the dress clippie and immediately thought that there needs to be a cheat free weekend clippie!! I can't wait to see it! The clippies really are motivating!

Gail

I got in my exercise today!! Did 3 mile WATP for abs, 1 Mile on Gazelle, lunges (I'm up to 10 on each leg...both forward and backward) and some upper body weight lifting! Figured I may as well introduce a little weights for the upper body now. I hate my arms and thighs more than anything!

Have a :sunny: day!

Gail - you've been doing so great with exercising!! I haven't really had a chance to post much in journals but everytime I see a new entry from you on the challenge thread, I'm like a little cheerleader - "Yay Gail!"

Those Nabisco snacks taste pretty good for "diet food". Sometimes I do really good with those office snacks but other times....oh boy. I had a piece of chocolate cake (without the frosting) so no Nabisco snacks for me today. I love those Oreo crisps...so yummy.

New clippies are fun...I'll have to come up with a few to share too.

Way to go with the exercise today, Gail! I'm so with you on the arms and thighs! Ugh, my arms haven't budged in inches since I started working out again. I hate how huge they are! I think when I drop an inch off my arms I'll probably cry! Thank God the thighs are going down though. I just started adding more weights into my daily routine this week too so maybe we'll both be seeing the arms go down soon! ::yes::

Whew...reading about all of your exercising is making me tired...whohooo!!! You are making great choices....packing snacks on your outing and finding those snacks...I've got to go find those at the store, I'm a big convenience person as well. If I have a prepackaged snack then I'm done, if I have to take them out of a box where I know there are more..then watch out!!

What kind of snacks did you take this weekend? Was it really convenient or did you find it difficult to take them with you? I've never done anything like that before and I was wondering.

Have a good day tomorrow! You're on a roll!!

Gail, you are making this healthy living thing look easy!! Good for you! That scale will HAVE to cooperate soon!!

I'm sending :goodvibes to you for a good day today!! :sunny:

I've had good days with eating the last 2 days. Didn't get any exercise yesterday...but had planned that. My grandmother had surgery yesterday...so I spent my entire day at the hospital. Left home at 10 and got back at 7. I was worn out and went to bed by 8! Imagine...sitting all day in a hospital makes you so sleepy...as if I did something strenuous.

My daughter had her weigh in yesterday...didn't gain or lose any. She was happy not to gain.

Have to get my behind in gear to exercise!

Here's to another good day!::yes::

Hi Gail! I hope your Grandma is okay. Sitting at the hospital really is tiring! I've had to do it a few times when my mom has had surgery and it's so boring, that's what makes you so tired I think.

I'm glad that your daughter had a good weigh in this week. Any time you don't gain it's a good weigh in! ::yes::

Both you and your daughter are doing fabulously with exercise & eating right. All of us are rooting for you!

I hope your grandmother recovers quickly. Thankfully I haven't had to visit someone in the hospital recently (except for births) but I can still remember visiting DH in the hospital when he had heart surgery and that was almost 12 years ago!

I hope you have another great day! :sunny:

Gail

Hope all is well with your grandmother. Many times inactivity is more exhausting than running around.

Thanks for the words of encouragement on my journal. Would love to chat with you sometime - maybe compare notes on substitute teaching. I am sending you a PM

Keep focused on your goals and take them one step at a time

Best wishes for your grandmother.

Linda

Hope everything went well with gma. Sitting in the hospital can seem like forever. Keep your chin up. Good luck on this unlucky friday the 13th.

Kristin

:bounce: WooHoo!! I'm so excited...see my new clippie! That's right...it's official...10 lbs gone!!! Today was weigh in...lost that nasty 1.5 gain from last week plus 2 more! I'm feeling pretty good today! My next step is to get into the 20?'s. The funny thing is that in March I was at 210 and lost 9 lbs in like 2 weeks! Here, it's taken me 5 weeks to lose 10. I think this time I am taking it a lot slower and not being strict so that I can have a fast weight loss. Before I would starve myself or deprive myself. This time I have had those weekend mess ups, but not given up after. I read in my Fitness magazine about when you lose weight and gain back and lose and gain...you know..yo-yoing...about how hard it is to lose it. I'm sure at my age of 34 that is also a factor in why this has been a gradual loss, and yes my bad weekends. Oh well, that's enough analyzing for one day! Other than that I'll be :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc off the walls!

My measurements:

Chest.....Last 40.....This 40
Waist.....Last 38.5..This 37.5
Hips.......Last 44.....This 44
Thighs...Last 26.....This 25.5

Lost another inch and a half!

Have a great day everyone! I'm gonna go work out:wave:

I got in 100 minutes of exercise today! I was so motivated by losing some weight! And the fact that I'm so close to my halfway point on the 1000 minute challenge! I am a sweaty pig right now...guess I better get a shower! Take care all and have a great weekend!

Gail

You go girl!!

What a great motivation you are for the rest of us!!

You make me energized (and tired!!) just reading about it.

Linda

Had a good day yesterday. It was haircut day...so we were gone most of the evening. My stylist has a salon in her home about 40 minutes from me.

Got in my exercise today. Today is a rainy day...it's supposed to get harder later...good ol' Charley. Nothing as bad as Florida...just lots of heavy rain...at least I hope it stays that way.

I passed my half way point on the August exercise challenge!

Have a great day!

Congratulations on the new clippie Gail! You have been doing wonderfully! Pretty soon you'll have a Onederland clippy too!
