Hello, all! :goodvibes

I have read all of the guidelines for the Give A Day promotion, but, I am hoping to confirm, with some of you who have actually gone through the process, that our plan will actually work!

Here's the plan:

1. On Monday, we will go to ticket window with GAD voucher and put the value of that toward purchasing a six day Park Hopper, which will end on Saturday, which is a blackout day for Deluxe AP's.

2. On Saturday, after entering the park as normal, we go to City Hall (is that the correct place to go?) and tell them that we would like to upgrade our six day Park Hopper to a Deluxe AP. They will apply the full cost of the Park Hopper toward the AP ($254) and we will pay the difference ($45).

3. Even though that day (Saturday) is a blackout day for the Deluxe AP, we get to continue to go in and out of both parks that day, with our Deluxe AP, correct?

Thanks, in advance, to any of you who have already gone through this process and who are able to contribute to the confirmation! :) I want to make sure I have all of our "ducks in a row" before we go!

Have a great day! :goodvibes :) :goodvibes

Not City Hall. You want to go to the AP processing center, which I believe is at the Plaza Pavilion, across the "street" from the restaurant.

Everything else is, as far as I know, correct.

Are you paying full price for the 6 day hopper? The full $254?

I ask because we are hoping to do this with our hopper passes, but we are buying them at the "5 for 3" price of $154 (child) and $184 (adult) so maybe that would make a difference.

If you are upgrading to an AP, it doesn't really matter how much you paid for your tickets (unless you're a Southern California resident and want to get the payment plan). You still have to pay the difference between the value of your hopper and the money value attached to the AP you're upgrading to, whether the AP was at a discount or not.

So if you upgraded a $184 hopper, you'd have to pay $115 to upgrade to a Deluxe AP.

If you paid $254 for a hopper, you'd pay just $45 to upgrade to a Deluxe AP.

In the case of the OP, they are using their GAD voucher to obtain a $254 (or whatever) hopper. The GAD voucher is "valued" at $72 (I think), so they only pay $182 for that hopper. So in the end they would actually paying $227 for a Deluxe AP, instead of $299.

At least, if it works--everything I've read here says the OP's procedure will work out just fine.

We are not purchasing the hoppers prior to our arrival; we will be paying full ticket price at the ticket window on Monday; however, we will be putting the GAD voucher value toward that Park Hopper.

If we purchased the PH ahead of time, online, for a promotional rate, we would still end up paying the full amount, in the end, for the DAP, because we would only get credited the amount we paid for the PH, online. Hope this helps!

Oops! Eeee-va's response got here before mine! :thumbsup2

That helps me a lot, thank you. We also have the GAD vouchers and would like to buy park hoppers and then upgrade to the deluxe AP's. Thanks again!:thumbsup2

Just wondering - maybe I'm missing something - why you are using GAD to go from a Park Hopper to an AP instead of just applying the GAD toward and AP? Just wondering the logic since we're planning on applying the value of our GAD toward the Premier Passport. Thanks!

We are doing the same thing, applying our GAD vouchers to parkhoppers so we can use the MM that comes with 3 day or more hoppers. After we use the MM we will upgrade to APs. :thumbsup2

Also, the last day the OP wants to go to the parks is a black-out day for the Deluxe AP, so they would have to pay the black-out fee that day if they already upgraded to an AP.

So MM is only available on Park Hoppers and not AP's? That stinks.

Thanks for the logic!

Thats a great idea. I was going next month and I was going to use a GAD voucher to get one of our two AP's, but we would be blacked out Saturday. I think now we will just do pretty much the same thing so we can go that day. Thanks OP.

Beware, you won't be able to park-hop or re-enter once you upgrade to an AP if it's a black-out day. I would upgrade to the AP once you've re-entered DL for the last time that day.

Blackout days with a Premier Passport? Somehow that just seems wrong.

Oh, we're staying at the Grand Californian, so I can just upgrade to the Premier and be fine? Thanks - you've been so helpful!

If you are staying onsite, you get MM for all days offered, so yes, you can just upgrade to the AP and skip the upgrading to a parkhopper. :goodvibes

Hmmm....I thought for sure that I read that, once I am admitted, even though I upgraded to a DAP on a blackout day, that I could come and go throughout that day. I have no idea where I read that; I'll have to do some more research.

If the case is that I cannot come and go on the blackout day, does anyone know how late the "office" is open where I need to upgrade to my DAP?

Thanks for the heads up!
