Been a long week so now is the first I'm getting to reply.
The comment about AP holder's getting a GAC for 3 months:
I have NEVER known this to be true. Up until May I was NOT a local/AP holder but had family. My husband is military so we thankfully are able to afford tickets a little more often and visit our families who live 30 miles from Disney. WE got married at Disney so all vacations are to Disney, so me getting a GAC a dozen or so times in a year is not strange even though we lived in KY during most of that time. I am NOW an AP holder and was on Monday and they never said anything about a prolonged GAC. Now has it happened, I wouldn't doubt it, but with all the people I know who have APs and gotten a GAC I've NEVER known someone to get one good for 3 months.
As for me needing to explain my needs, I did. I explained that it isn't about the wait time but about the amount of people in line. Many times the hallways are extremely tiny and feel much more so with 100 people in them. To be in that same hallway with 30 other people is a lot easier on my anxiety. And as someone stated, I already get anxiety just seeing a wait time outside, at least the GAC allows my brain to be tricked into thinking things will go smoother.
As for the buffer thing, that is all great when I go with more than 1 person, but it is not unusual for me to go by myself to the park or go with just 1 other person. How am I supposed to create a buffer with 1 person?
As for fast pass, yes in a sense they help, but 9 times out of 10 finding a quiet uncrowded area to wait until the FP time is impossible. I like the FP+ and use that over a GAC whenever possible but only having the option for 3 FP+ times set up makes for difficult planning of the other rides without a GAC.
No matter what new rules they implement there will always be someone who finds a way around it.
